Anyone know the best or decent places online (or in person) to purchase vinyl??
For the new stuff: Birdland in Sydney - www.birdland.com.au . Great little shop owned and run by music lovers not business types.
If you want new vinyl directly then Mobile Fidelity [MOFI] have a solid catalog of good quality recordings at very reasonable prices.
http://www.mofi.com/
If you are after 2nd hand Vinyl then: Garage sales, deceased estates, Charity Shops.. and so on for the used stuff. Actual record stoes will charge you a fortune and the quality is far from guaranteed.
If you are truly prepared to go the vinyl route then go 2nd hand records to make it worthwhile, buy in bulk and sell what you don't want to cover your costs.
Don't even consider the shit they sell at JB Hifi. It's poorly handled, overpriced, and sounds more digital than a good CD.
As someone that has owned over 5000 Vinyl LP's my question is what are you after and why on Vinyl ?
To get Vinyl to work costs a fortune and the ritual of maintaining the software is a complete pain in the arse.
For convenience get a mid priced SACD Player and get into SACD and CD because it's a lot easier to manage and a hell of a lot cheaper as well.
This is what I have: http://au.yamaha.com/en/products/aud..._a/?mode=model
It's about 20% of the cost of a decent Turntable, Phono Stage, and moving Coil - and the difference in sound quality is negligible at best.
Sound wise - a mid range SACD player as described above will eat any Turntable anyone here who's name isn't Hawk can afford.

Sh1t, forgot that you had written that Dunster, I'll pm you about it..
New Metallica song out today.. Actually not too bad..
Not a Metallica fan in general but this one is pretty good. Gets better the more you listen to it - a lot going on you don't pick up first time in.
Went and caught Caravana Sun on Saturday.
These blokes are brilliant.

Punk, metal. and has disc golf.
That's excellent. Will contact the organisers and ask about disc golf.
New music out from Car Bomb..
These guys just keep pushing it.. So brutal. The time changes and musicianship are brilliant.
I recommend having it on while watching the Jets get fisted tomorrow night, will help with the anger..
New Metallica out today. I like it and I find that concerning.
Anyone else heading to The Metro in Sydney tonight for Every Time I Die?
They always put on an amazing show..
Agree looks like a very good show. I don't think they'd warrant listening to at home alone - but for a show they look like the real deal.
There is always a time and a place to listen.. I do understand it isn't for everyone though.. haha
Not so pumped for the opening bands, letlive are a little too... ummm.. well, just not for me..
So I plan on boozing at one of those seedy Irish bars around the corner until ETID begin..
So after the gig on Tuesday night, this randomly popped up on Facey..
The fan-made clip is..... different.. but I can't believe I hadn't heard of Mercyful Fate before.. This came out in 1984, considered to be one of the first black-metal bands corpse painting it up..
Gotta say, takes me a while to get used to King Diamond's hectic voice, but its kinda hilarious over the prog/metal music..
