Sad day indeed. An innovator that we will never see the likes of again.

    RIP Bowie.

In light of Glenn Frey's passing, this seems appropriate.
    Not a bad cover...

On my first listen through The Astonishing. I'm definitely not going to be able to appreciate it properly until I've listened multiple times. It's epic ans ambitious and filled with plenty of the bits that makes me love DT but just in writing this I've lost my place in the story and have no ****ing idea what's going on right now.

Maurice Smith of Earth, Wind and Fire fame is dead.

Non music but so is Dave Mirra (BMX legend) and Axl Rotten (ECW wrestler).

White not smith... dunno why my brain did that. Had parkinsons, was also old.
    Mirra committed suicide.
No news on Rotten but speculation is pain med OD. Was found dead in a motel room. He had serious back injuries so had readily available meds... at least that's how the rumour goes.

New film clip from The Black Dahlia Murder..
Animated insanity, probably NSFW.. Definitely not safe to watch if you are under the influence of hallucinogens..

What if I am working from home?

You might be able to help me, Bon...

Can you recommend me a band that plays music like that but has much much cleaner vocals? Or even just something like that that has no vocals would suit me fine.

Hallucinogens while working from home? haha

A lot of those sort of bands are actually releasing a downloadable "instrumental" version of the album these days, as they realise that a lot of people love the music but not so much the vocals..
As for bands that play like that, but have much cleaner vocals.. Ummmmm.. Leave it with me, you have given me something to do today at work..

Also, this won Grammy for Best Metal Performance.

Good clean vocals, wish it was a bit heavier. Might have to check more of them out.

Oh yeah man, Ghost are awesome.. Definitely check more of their stuff out, their first album Opus Eponymous is brilliant..
Amazing scando riffs.. I'm not totally sold on the vocals, but I guess that's all part of it..

Have given Ghost a few playthroughs. Is good, will definitely by it from my local dealer and add to my collection.

Get the vinyl because the digital is compressed to within an inch of its life. Ok for the car or ipod but that's about it.
Credit to this band though, they definitely have their own sound.

Ok, when I read that the other day, my first thoughts went to some of the classics that I know you would already be familiar with, like Opeth, In Flames, etc.. (Although they aren't completely clean vocalled, and arguably less death-y)..
A band I've been digging for a while now Conquering Dystopia play heavy technical stuff that is all instrumental.. (A bit of a supergroup - guitarist for Arch Enemy/Nevermore, drummer for The Faceless, bassist for Cannibal Corpse, and Keith Merrow who is a freak.. haha)
I don't even know how they play stuff like this on guitar.. Especially all the arpeggio stuff around the 3:15 mark..

There are plenty of bands I could recommend that sound or play similar to The Black Dahlia Murder, although it is tough to think or find any that are instrumental or completely mellow vocals.. Part of the genre is about screaming your tits off I guess.. haha..
As I said, a lot of them release instrumental versions of albums, or have instrumental one off songs on an album (and I can recommend plenty of them, love it!), but not many that I can say are completely clean..
