    It's still in the CBA.

I believe it's only Lundy and Solari that are on Contracted youth players. Ox was upgraded to the senior squad when he received his last contract.

The whole system is a joke because clubs rarely announce who holds these roles

The squad rules state that the HAL squad of 20-23 places, must have 3 U21 players.

The NYL squad can have 3 designated NYL Youth Contracted players signed to min wage HAL contracts. NYL players are u20.

This effectively boosts your contracted squad to 26.

I'm really interested to see how the side lines up this year. We will get an idea on Wednesday I suppose.

Has anyone been to training sessions? Shed any light on the new Big Phil's (lets face it, Phil Scolari can't be called that and more because he doesn't have a job and not many people know Phil Brown) formation and tactics?

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I wonder how Stubbs is gonna use Jeronimo, seemed to be used mostly as a super sub in Adelaide and considering Griff may struggle with full games and Montano is untested at an A-League level I wonder how we'll use him, so the front two is a bit hard to predict. Safe to say Flores is AM. At right I would say we'd use Hoole since he is the best option out of the lot lot we've got in my opinion. The left side is very interesting in my opinion, assuming we want start both Carney and Steele, one of them is going to have to go to LB. Seems like we're signing an experienced DM so assuming he'll start with Kanta being a solid back-up. At RB Neville hopefully can start, was quality before his injury last season. And at CB I would say Kew and Madaschi but if Regan were to start I wouldn't complain, and I could feasibly see it happening as well. Basically, this was a long as **** way of saying I couldn't tell you and I apologise for that, but at least it's interesting to think about

If Paartalu does come to the Jets they would have close to best 11 in the league.

    Birighitti
    Neville - Madaschi - Jaliens - Goodwin
    Paartalu - Steele
    Griffiths - Flores - Carney
    Jeronimo

And Stubbins would have 2 players for every spot now.

    Bk
    Hoole - Gallaway - Regan - Gallagher
    Kantarovski - Pepper
    Barresi - Cooper - Virgili
    Montona

Without having seen Montano, I'd swap griff and Neumann in your line up but I think you're bang on.

The thing with Partaluu is he could play that holding role by himself. We've seen in the past we've retro-fitted two players in there because they didn't have the nous or legs to cover that role. I think Steele will play a box to box type role in that regard, leaving Partaluu sit.

Kanta can do the sitting role too. He has very good positional sense and made such a difference in that regard when he came on last season.

And no Reegz for second team duty!?!

My thinking with 4-2-3-1 was to fit Goodwin, Steele and Carney together in the same lineup, 3 left sided attacking players. Could always go the 4-4-2 diamond.
But then Carney or Steele would have to play RM

    Paartalu
    Carney - Steele
    Flores
    Griff - Jeronimo

Carney would play right out of those two I think but we'll see in preseason

If you read any of Stubbins comments on Jeronimo or watched him play at AUFC, he is only being signed as a 2nd striker. Jeronimo won't defend.

IMO we are nailed on to play 442 now.

    -------------Paartalu

    Hoole-------------------Steele

    -------------Flores

    -----Jeronimo
    -----------------------Griffiths

Isn't it funny that a team with no locals and no young guns looks like a title contender?

Bk, Regz & Kanta would still be very much in contention, Kanta when fit and in form is a better player than Paartalu IMO and his only 22 so him and Birraz along Goody would be your young guns.

Are people serious ? His CSL Club Tianjin Teda released him mid contract and now he's playing in Thailand. FFS which part of this doesn't ring alarm bells ?

As far as the jets signing Paartalu I'd say there is a good chance. After all, he's currently out injured so that would certainly put him into contention for a Jets contract.

I'm sorry but when did BK lose his starting spot?
Best keeper we've got and was on fire when he came in late last year.
Or do we just forgive old flappy hands Biraz and chuck him back in there?
