We need Con back to sell Newcastle for its lifestyle. Comparable housing on beachside property for a fraction of the price you would get anywhere (except in a caravan park down in gypoville). Saving money on housing and getting a lower salary than elsewhere should be an easy sell for the right negotiator when you talk about disposable income at the end of the day.

    You're not wrong, Pissant Gypo.

But they did try selling the lifestyle to Johnny Steele and he hated it within a fortnight of touching down

A lot of foreign players are attracted to Melbourne and Sydney because of the big city, kulcha, etc - it's hard to convince them to come check out the giant penis at queens wharf
    OK

I know I'm not wrong, Actual Gypo.

I think Steele would still be a Newy lad if Fanny's was its old self.

The A-league is a development league, a stepping stone to bigger things, or a step back when you're in your twilight.
Either way we need a coach that players feel like they are getting something from.

We regularly compare the decisions footballers make with "real jobs" and I've no doubt I've had bosses I'd work for on less money than some others who I'd not work for even if paid twice as much.

Get a coach who players want to play for and you can then start attracting players.

Look at Arnold, he helped develop a fair few CCM players into European contracted players, if I was hoole, I'd go to. Stubbins who doesn't know what he's doing, or Arnold who could possibly help you get to Europe? Hmmmmm

Spend some money on the roles within the club that fall outside the cap and it makes it easier to get quality players fit under it.... And that money spent also helps improve and develop the squad while they are here giving you even better value.

    Only a few hours, guys!

Predictably, Griff and Taggart are the only ones selling with Reserve met. Not a single bid for Pepper, Kew, Kanta, Gallaway or Regan and the rest are below reserve.

I wish someone would just go "holy shit, we ARE a selling/development league. Maybe we can be profitable focusing on youth" and do exactly that. GvE ALMOST had the right idea with a bunch of the people he signed but then the wheels fell off and he clearly didn't have the ability to take them all from promising prospects to saleable assets.

    this this this this this!

It works for clubs all around the world but I still feel like we haven't really seen an HAL club take that approach, the closest would have to be CCM but they appear to have lost their way, in part i think due to Moss getting the top gig.

    That makes my day

Assumption that BK is on 6 figures of course but he has had quite a few spells as No1 Keeper at the club and one would assume his agent has cashed in on this at some stage to get BK a good deal. Even when he has slipped down the pecking order behind Birraz Covic over the last decade you would assume his agent would be competent enough to not see his client lose out financially to stay with the club.

I don't recall any serious interest in him to go elsewhere and all his deals signed seemed to have been pretty straight forward.

If he ain't on 6 figures his agent needs shooting

Maybe, just maybe, BK and his agent have a relationship with the club where he is offered a deal, thinks it's cool and accepts it.

Maybe there's no 'other clubs are keen' agent talk that is all too familiar these days.

Maybe also when he does lose his spot he just goes to work and busts his ass to get back into the 1st team rather than whining to mates in the media (YES IM TALKING ABOUT RYAN GRIFFITHS)

Maybe the bloke is just happy with his life.
Not every player has to be hell bent on world domination and screwing people and clubs over to get where they want to be.

Maybe he's just a good bloke who loves the Jets and appreciates what he's got.

So your saying the Jets should take advantage of his loyalty and offer him a pie and a can of coke per game and he will be in on that to save funds??

    BK Noble bloke and all

The latest financial returns recently lodged in the United Kingdom by English Premier League giant Manchester City has shed some light on its financial relationship with A-League club Melbourne City.

Manchester City moved to buy 80 per cent of the then Melbourne Heart in January last year, the remainder held by the owners of NRL club Melbourne Storm.

The City Football Club report for 2013-14, lodged with Companies House in late December, showed Manchester City had paid £5.303 million ($9.75 million) cash for its 80 per cent share, confirming the mooted overall sale price of $12.5 million at the time of the deal.
City Football Club said it had provided £246,000 in services to Melbourne Heart in 2013-14, which would have covered about four months of the 2013-14 A-League season it owned the club, and lent the Melbourne side £1.598 million.

The Melbourne side contributed £2.183 million in revenue and £1.118 million in losses to Manchester City’s overall £347 million revenue and £63.4 million loss in 2013-14. The Heart were rebranded Melbourne City before the start of the current A-League season. Manchester also own New York City and are understood to be planning a football academy at Melbourne’s La Trobe University.
Can see why now Tinks is standing his ground on what price he sees as fair

from 1500 to 10000 members since he forked out for it too.

Though getting someone else with city's cash to come along.
He of all people should know an asset is only worth what someone will pay.
