Why is Murphy not in the same boat?

He presided over Stubbins retention, he did nothing (as middleby allegedly did) while the club was run into the ground and payments not made, he came out publicly and kept giving the equivalent of "the cheques in the mail".

You could argue that Murphy did exactly the same thing Middleby did (or didn't do).

The common denominator is the real issue, and he is now gone. It would not have mattered who the CEO was at any point of tinkers reign. He was always the one pulling the strings and once the money ran out, it was just one giant PR machine of smokes and mirrors.

My gut-feeling all along has been that Murphy was "parachuted" in by the FFA in preparation for the eventual take-over.
Reckon FFA knew it was enevitable that Tinkler could not meet his obligations so Murphy got put there to get a "feel" for the place and just to go along with the flow, even if he had to tell porky pies about the situation. I may be wrong but it makes a lot of sense also from FFA's viewpoint.

I'm with you Stopper2. There was a lot of pressure from the FFA on tinkler to make an appointment. Given Murphy's involvement with FFV it's not unreasonable to think the FFA have said "here's a bloke, interview him for the role to sort yourselves out"

Agree - there is strong word on the grapevine that Murphy was a "plant" and the FFA called Tinks bluff with Murph being a standout candidate.

The fact he is carrying on so passionately and his job is not under threat suggests this is very possible.

Up at coffs for the week and there's an article in the local paper about moving an a league match to the town for one round. Would be marketed with coaching clinics etc. what are everyone's thoughts of moving one game up here? I know it's not ideal moving home matches etc but would be an opportunity of picking up some fans up north who may be sitting on the fence as to whether to support us or Brisbane. Excellent facilities up here too
