If we're not playing 4-2-3-1 (or 4-2-1-3 if you're that way inclined) or 4-4-2 with diamond midfield I honestly don't see any hope for us.
The tactical master GVE ain't running his crazy 3 man at the back set up

To wind up the Member more, I see Steele as being our very own McGlinchey.

    FFS that's just terrible

You are much better at it than that.

    Try again

Some teams maybe, but on a whole the A-league isn't the same standard.

look at Jesic, had a decent year here, went over there and couldn't even get a squad contract. that was what 2 years ago?
THe Galaxy were one of the best MLS teams and yet were beaten by the Jets and SFC. I understand they were only exhibition matches - but overall if they were the best in the MLS then I'd rate the MLS no better than the A-league.

Milton Rodriguez was only wanted as a bench player for the Jets so he went to the MLS and did very well.

Jesic, as much as I liked the bloke still doesn't have an A-league contract and was pretty much unwanted at the Jets.

Overall, I'd say the A-League vs MLS is probabably too close to call.

Danny Allsopp walked the HAL, went to MLS and looked like he couldn't kick a ball.

Fred was good here first time around - but after returning from MLS was nothing special.

Danny Allsopp did ok in the MLS scoring 5 goals in 23 games for a side that was nowhere near as dominant as Melbourne Victory were in the A-league.
Based on your assertions [ rof] Allsopp would never have scored a single goal if the MLS was so superior.

    Stick with your Mariners.

Allsopp was ordinary in the 2nd half of his career full stop.

Gve is gone so now we have a chance of having a decent team. see what happens on the pitch. City on the other hand look like they may avoid the spoon

Tim Cahill went to the MLS instead of coming to the HAL because he wanted to play in a better league to keep him top notch for the WC (and funnily enough, he was our best player there).

Has anyone figured that there is a reason no HAL players go to MLS clubs? Maybe because they're not good enough?
    OK

James Gardner from the herald tweeted that both Flores and Neville are back training with the main group. Excellent news 2.5mths out from the season

Ffs we should have kept Zads and Roundabout if we wanted to be mediocre
So let me get this straight.

Instead of trying something different, we should have stuck with the same players who got us to 7th?

    That makes real ****ing sense.

Have you seen Berisha's history before he landed in Brisbane? What about Carrusca? Paartalu? They have histories that would make most fans cringe at the thought of signing them.

You're right, we should have stuck with the ever reliable Zadkovich and Caravella - because they've done more than some nobody who's played for NY Red Bulls and currently represents his country. You get dumber by the ****ing day.

But hey, all foz members will forget about this if he does do really well because you whinge about everything and everyone anyway.

Would any of our current midfield get looked at by NYRB or any other team in the MLS?

Kanta, Pepper, Oxborrow & I'll throw in Wheelhouse, Zads & Caravella for good measure.... can anyone honestly see them making it anywhere outside Newcastle?

Kanta, definitely. He's pretty much just an Australian Javier Mascherano.
