How is this situation the same as Griffiths?
Montano- Waiting on a Visa to work in Australia. Completely out of the clubs control.

Griffiths- Waiting on a International clearance to transfer from another club, said club hardballing Griffiths so they don't have to pay him out, Griffiths refuse to relinquish money his untitled to so clearance is delayed. Completely out of the clubs control.

it depends on how early they applied for visas, etc.

Yup, completely of the club's control to sign a player from one of the countries that doesn't have an embassy here, ergo making visas very hard to get. It's not as if we haven't already signed a player from Ecuador who had visa issues. Oh wait, there was Zura, wasn't there?

And while I'm glad we did sign him, we know from experience that signing players from Chinese clubs, and indeed Asian clubs in general, is generally very difficult, like Burns not 2 months before we signed Griff. And not unlike Paartalu in the past month.

If you fail to learn the lessons of history, you are doomed to repeat them. Seems very adapt for this club.

Yeah why didn't HSG learn from their obvious previous error, I blame Middleby, its not like a completely different set of club admin were in charge when that occurred last time....

I'm with pico this set of club admin seem to think we've only existed for ten years, to expect they know who Zura was is expecting way to much.

We will the grand final this year and HSG will announce it as the first time we've made the finals.

How is a guy UNDER CONTRACT till end of December remotely similar to any of the others? If we aren't going to stump up a transfer fee and he isn't going to buy out his contract, why is the club under any obligation to let him go?

You have to remember that most clubs aren't full of spineless imbeciles who let players go at the drop of a hat like our lot.

You want the club to learn from past mistakes, yet you are happy Montano was signed.......that logic makes no sense.

    Off season boredom striking here.

I would rather the club sign the right player no matter what country they come from then restrict our choice to those who can obtain a quickie visa. Particularly when there is 2+ months before the season starts.

Pretty confident in saying other clubs around the world can get a visa organised within 5weeks for an Ecuadorian signing.

I am pretty confident when Valencia went to England the clubs had no issue organising one.

It's also called research. A few phone calls are all that is required to clarify the visa requirements and an assessment as to what is required.

Wonder if that has ANYTHING at all to do with there being an Embassy in London and NOT ONE IN AUSTRALIA as has been pointed out in this thread.

So what does the Ecuadorian having an embassy in London have to do with it???

The signing of an Ecuador player to an English club goes through English government embassy's and not Ecuadorian embassy's

Just as this bloke Montana has to apply to Australian authorities for a work permit to come here. Embassy in Santiago Chile deals with it assuming the Jets can't send it through to someone in this country.

The problems got nothing to do with Ecuador at all.

What does it matter? Disappointed Montano wasn't here for the Weston Bears rout or the FFA Cup? As long as he is here in the next 2-4 weeks that's what matters.

Look around at how many players our opposition have signed at this point of the year.

You should be happy that the visa news is out there so you have something else to whinge about in what has been a relatively good news off season

Bloke really needed to ring Ryan Griffiths and learn how to make the sad 'please trade me' sooky face.

The quicker this bloke settles in Newy the quicker we will see his best football.

He ain't gonna show his best until he is comfortable in Newy

He ain't gonna do that in Ecuador

Yeah because this is a problem only Newcastle has.

We're lucky he has that 1 cap for Ecuador otherwise it would be a hell of a lot harder to get him a Visa

Wasn't Griff under contract until the end of December this year with the Chinese mob?

And Borat I was talking about Griffo, not Montano. Hence the reason why the Chinese and asian comments followed.

I'm going to have a guess and say Nick Kalmar, Nick Carle or Mass Murdocca. Mind you it says Australian club so not necessarily A-League.

In other words I've got NFI

Yeah its hard to work out. No team would want to let go a quality midfielder so bit disappointing.
Prob a team thats got too many midfielders on their books that arent getting game time.

    Mass would be good.
Syd have alot of DM!! Rhyan Grant maybe. All random guesses though

Edit: Toohey saying we expected to sign celeski this week. Must be playing in vpl. Thats why article said australian club and not aleague club
