    New User Introduction Thread

There have been comments across various social media that people are steering clear of the forum because they don't feel welcome and when they participate they feel bullied or abused.

Firstly, we should all remember the posting guidelines when engaging with each other.

But for new users (or any existing users) who want to, I thougth I'd start a thread where they can introduce themselves by talking about (for example):

    • Whether they support any clubs in addition to the Jets
    • Their first memory of the Jets
    • Favourite Jets player
    • How much they hate Hutcho
    • How long they've supported the Jets.

Admins - Is there any way we can link this to the posting guidelines and possibly sticky this if you think it adds value.

    - Liverpool FC and Garden Suburb FC

    - Memory is a bit fuzy as I was only 12 or 13 at the time. The old man was still in work clothes so I would guess it was a Friday night game. I'm pretty sure it was against Brisbane Strikers because we were on the hill giving it to Kosmina all night.

    - Lord Griff

    - Words can not describe the hate

    - 17 years.

My other team is obviously Liverpool. Played locally for Kotara South as a junior, spent 4 season playing for Cookers in AA with some mate.

First memory of Newcastle football was Johnny Maj coming on as a substitute at Energy Australia Stadium for the old United don't remember who it was against. Remember the names like Sprod, Dodd, Roberts, Pryce, Masi, Buonavoglia, Bingley, Baille, Owen fondly. That would be around 2000/2001.

Fave Jets players have been Griff, Zads and Stevie U-G.

Sean Rooney and Tarek Elrich should be knighted for having Hutch by the throat at various stages.

Supported the Jets since inception. Remember the first goal from Milicic like it was yesterday.

I definitely have earlier memories of Newcastle Football, cold nights over at The Gardens all rugged up and covered in Raid watching the Breakers.
You asked for the first memory of the Jets and I consider United as the Jets.

Ill go. My other club is Chelsea (surprise) Supported them since 98 when I saw Zola work his magic on sbs

First Jets game and memory was in the 06/07 season, saw advertisements for the Jets v Roar game (Free entry maybe?) and even though we lost 2-1 (I think?) Nicky Carle was amazing and started my Jets love affair. Been going to Jets ever since and season ticket holder since 08/09. Actually pretty sure my pops took to a breakers game when I was younger but cant remember anything from that.

Favourite Jets Players, Lord Griff (Actually all the Griffiths brothers), Carle, Milton, Song, North, Regan, Durante, Thomo. (There's been a few)

    Hutcho? Flog move along

Been going to Jets ever since that game I mentioned above and season ticket holder since 08/09.

Hi. I'm a relatively new poster and I do feel bullied sometimes, mostly by the fact that that red bar to the left says my reputation is "off the scale" in a negative way. I'd feel entirely at home if it was emerald.

Here are some titbits about me:
    • I used to support the Victory. Then I found myself wanting City to win their derbies. I decided that was probably incompatible with being a genuine Victory fan, so switched to the Jets.
    • The first time I knew I loved the Jets with all of my plastic heart was when Ruben Zadkovich led them to victory in the Singapore Soccer Sixes. I was bursting with pride. I decided that was probably compatible with being a genuine Jets fan.
    • My favourite Jets players are Zadkovich, Nick Carle and Kaz Patafta. My favourite current player is Sugar.
    • I feel ambivalently toward Hutcho, because I have a soft spot for good pastizzi and, hence, all Maltese people.

Whether they support any clubs in addition to the Jets
All of the effnik clubs in Straya

Their first memory of the Jets
Breakers/United - I have memories of going to games all the time, but I was fairly young. My earliest distinct memory is Greg Owens scoring a barnstorming volley. Someone pls track down footage.

For the Jerks though - earliest memory is hearing that new sick gold jersey was on sale at Rebel and that if you bought it, you got 2x free tickets to the Adelaide game. It was financially irresponsible of me not to get it, really.

And the preseason game (inc penalties). Running down to stand behind the goals, and a random 40+ year old CCM fan punches me in the face, my first ever punch ops:

Early days Squadron was fun. Aeroplane Zelic, etc. Squadron.org Dezy bringing Ray Baartz into the away bay at Gosford was awesome at the time.

    Favourite Jets player
    Stu Musialik, Griff & Ljubo

    How much they hate Hutcho
    A lot

How long they've supported the Jets.
    I hate the Jerks
    OK

Anyone else here actually go to the first KB United game in 1978? I'm the antithesis of plastic - next year celebrates 40 years of national league football in Newy.

And a question I am hearing more as he becomes a memory - who's Hutcho?

Watching the Grand Final for the podcast special, Tarek gets Hutch by the throat after Griff takes out Jedinak in the first half and I think I remember him getting into Hutch again in the hoo-ha after the Holland "hand ball"

Hard to believe this was over 8 years ago now. Seeing Vigs for the first time at training I thought the club had finally turned the corner - then he got injured ... and we all know the rest.

Ljubo was probably the best defender in the competition.

Elrich - played every game like it was a grand final.

Looking at this brings so many questions of "what if" and such a feeling of sadness.

Other teams : Arsenal, last week was pretty awesome for me.

My first memory of the Jets was getting a text from my brother when I was on holiday in New Zealand the day the a-league clubs were announced. Pretty hard info to find in NZ at the time. For some reason I was petrified Newcastle would miss out & not get a team.

Favourite player. Hmm that's a difficult one. Probably Song; though the only Jets shirt I've got with a player's name on it is Heskey. Paul Okon & Ned Zelic are up there too.

I dont hate Hutcho. He is a great "villain" though & used to enjoy giving him crap

I went to the very first Season one pre season game at Marathon Stadium, and then the first home game. Been going (and suffering) ever since ! I also used to go to the ISC as a kid to watch KB United go around.

As good as winning the grand final was, the semi-final the week before against Brisbane is my favourite Jets game. It was such a roller coaster and Tarek's winner was a screamer !!
