Furns and Matt return after a few weeks off (again) to go over the Jets performance in the latest round of the A-League Men. We discussed the starting lineup and changes, as well as the goals, performances of some of the players and the team overall, and a result wholly against how we usually perform against Sydney FC.

Then we moved on the Jets Women who played their final game of the regular season by travelling to Coopers Stadium and completely demolishing Adelaide United 8-0 to qualify for the finals series. The elimination final against Western in Tarneit was discussed and the prospect of the home leg of a semifinal in Maitland should the girls get a result this weekend . 

We dived in to the elephant in the room while we’ve been off, all the negative publicity surrounding the club, possible owners withdrawing interest, players rumoured to be signing at other clubs and how all of this is affecting the supporter community around Newcastle and the Jets.

Finally, we briefly covered off this weekends Men’s match against the Roar in Brisbane and also gave our predictions on the rest of the games in the round.

Furns and Matt are joined by a returning David aka Stats Daddy. We began by catching up with Dave’s thoughts on the Jets season so far in both the Men’s and Women’s teams and what the stats are telling us about the performances of both teams.

Then talk moved onto (another) frustrating experience watching the Jets Men as they dominated the first half however lost all three points in the second half (again). We discussed the players performances, and why we seem to be losing points after going ahead in many of our games this season.

Dave gave his thoughts on the Women’s team, their strengths and weaknesses and the news Gary Van Egmond has moved on to oversee the Chinese women’s youth National teams. 

We moved on to preview both the Women’s & Men’s games against Sydney FC, both Jets teams need to get a win on the board to improve their table positions.

Finally, we gave our predictions on the rest of the games in the Men’s competition and then gave our thoughts on the Unite Round. We ended with a tribute and our thoughts on  former Jets alumni Stephen Laybutt who was tragically found passed away a few days ago.

Furns and Matt are joined by special guest Harry from Newy Jets Football Podcast. As we had been off for a few weeks over Christmas and New(y) Year, we covered off the games that had taken place since our win away in Wellington.

We chatted over both the player & team performances, as well as those missing through injury or suspension. We then diverted into a chat about the ownership situation. 

Then we talked over the season so far after 11 games, how we think it’s going, the style of play and selections from Rob Stanton and the players who have stood out so far. 

Lastly, we moved on to preview the Mens game in Sydney in the Unite Round against Brisbane, who certainly haven’t been travelling very well recently home or away. They have however appointed a new coach, so will we get bitten by the new manager curse?

We give our thoughts on whether we change anything or keep the same team and tactics. We finished off by briefly previewing the rest of the weekend’s games in the Unite Round.
