Winter. Summer grass. 8 games a weekend. No roller.

Both goal mouths/18's were ruined in preseason. Besides for the bobbles, it actually has more coverage this year than last year, believe it or not.

I believe the top ground (that you warmed up on) is being re-turfed in the off season and being converted into one pitch (running East/West), with plenty of space around all four ends for drills/warm up/training. With the hopeful plan of getting the main pitch re-turfed in the coming year or two.

I should post some photos of last season at this time of the year. It was akin to concrete from goal to goal with no hint of grass other than the corners. While not great, its the best the pitch has been at this time for years.

With the top ground, last off-season we received a grant to move the cricket pitch, put in fencing, new goals and some returfing (not a lot) to allow us to run the pitch east west. The dimensions of the new pitch will be identical to the bottom field. Works will start again on this in 2-3 weeks now the juniors don't need the ground. This pitch will take the load of Lance Yorke and mean we don't have to use the bottom field for pre season. We will be pumping water into it this year to get some grass growing up there. We have sought funding to top dress this ground as its a substantial figure to do the whole field. If we are successful with this, it will be done in the off season as well. The plan is to have movable training goals off the side of the pitch so training doesn't impact on the field.

We also had a soil analysis done on both grounds. Part of the main grounds issue is that is seems to have been top dressed through the middle with sand at some point. Thats why the grass struggles mid season. The sand means the grass doesn't grow properly and is more affected when stressed. We are looking to see if the funds are there to top dress this field in accordance with the remediation in the soil analysis as well as putting in new goals. If we can find the $$$ then the main field should be vastly improved next season and able to cope with the traffic.

We have learnt from the last off season though and the goals will be dismantled and put in the containers so there is no goal mouths on the bottom pitch. We will probably fence off the boxes as well.

We can't take much from this season for ourselves, but we'll certainly be looking to end peoples finals chances or form.
We didn't have 14 fresh players, but that's okay. I guess if that's what you're proud of this season, then good luck to you and good luck next year. The season was over for us last weekend and technically still mathematically a possibility of making top 4 in all grades albeit extremely unlikely. All the best mate

It doesn't generally hold too much water.

It just doesn't have any grass. But there will be few "damp" spots - more towards the northern 18s. Southern end is mostly fine.

With these rain showers coming through all day, I think our chances are getting slimmer and slimmer...

We have had stuff all serious rain though. Very sporadic and light. Nearly all will be good. A couple of unlucky areas (cookers and NewL) will have copped a brief down pour which maybe in trouble.

    Too true mate.
We will be down their having a look this afternoon, but it was in an unplayable condition when checked last night and we were hoping for some sun and wind to help out (hasn't occurred). We will be down there again today to have a look, but slimmer and slimmer is the go currently.

We would discuss with Garden Suburb but would look to transfer the match to next Saturday. The desire is to get the match on tomorrow though and we will be working towards that.

Very poor form on behalf of the Dudley ressie player degrading someone's family during the game against mayfield today it's all good to have a bit of banter but you cross the line when you have to stoop so low as to bring someone's family into it that's very poor form.
