400km's ???
Is that all.
I was expecting it to be a hell of a lot further away than that

And again tonight.
Time: Sun Jul 26 5:44 PM, Visible: 6 min, Max Height: 47 degrees, Appears: SW, Disappears: ENE
6min at 47deg is a pretty good stretch.
Last night my wife spotted it first. It winked into sight about 30-40deg above the horizon at 6:38pm.
The kids loved watching it almost 'collide' with the moon lol
Winked out about 20 deg down from mid heaven.
Good viewing angle tonight.
ISS @ 5:38pm.
If you've never seen this before, set an alarm.
Time: Sat Jul 23 5:38 PM, Visible: 6 min, Max Height: 76°, Appears: 10° above SW, Disappears: 11° above NE
An outstretched sideways hand at arms length is a good guestimation for 5 deg so
so it should appear 2 palm widths above the horizon.
so the super moon this afternoon wasn't much to behold behind the clouds
but anyone lucky enough to be up at dawn this morning got to see the almost super moon setting just as the sun was rising
it was pretty damn spectacular - though I've not experienced that many concurrent moonset and sunrises, so it's hard to compare with a non-super one
ISS tonight

Anyone see or feel the apparent meteor last night??
We felt & heard our house windows shake. Mrs v4 thought someone was outside near our window but all the dogs in the neighbourhood going nuts made me think it was something wide ranging. Mrs v4 noted the time of 8:50pm and said she'd check earthquake news today. Turns out it was a meteor!
OK

Taken from Caves Beach a few months ago. The guy who took it said he also saw last night's, and said it was bigger than this one.
ISS tonight.

Went over last night but only 2.5 min viewing time.
If anyone hasn't seen it before, it's worth while having a look.
It's like the Sun sneezed and Venus got in the way and is being blown out to Jupiter.
cheers
meant to look yesterday but forgot - will try again tonight if this cloud goes away
