This is how it cam get out of hand..
Occasionally, sledging doesn’t go down too well.
McGrath to Ramnaresh Sarwan: “So what does Brian Lara’s di*k taste like?
”Sarwan: “I don’t know. Ask your wife.
McGrath : “If you ever F**king mention my wife again, I’ll F**king rip your F**ing throat out.”
Unfortunately for Sarwan’s quick wit, McGrath’s wife was very sick at the time with the cancer that would later take her life.
From www.cricketsledges.com
Now if Sarwan didn't know about her illness its a pretty good response to something McGrath started.
But...

I see the biggest problem with that is where the media mention Jane McGrath's illness. It's totally out of context and I believe has nothing to do Sarwan's response. He would have said it if it were any other Aus bowler in my opinion.

So you’re cool with homophobic insults but not ones about wives?
Ok.
But you just made my point for me. McGrath, like Warner started it, and have no authority to state where the boundaries are.

Just watching the Carragher thing....not defending his actions but like Warner was goaded beforehand, this time by a twit with a camera looking for a nibble. Would like to see him getting done for using a mobile phone whilst driving....
It's like the Current Affair thing of chasing "wrongdoers" down the street. Whenever someone bites they are told "you'll be up for assault" or "you'll have to pay for that camera". Under extreme pressure you have to expect a brainsnap. One of these idiots will pull a gun eventually.
Leave well alone - if you are prepared to goad someone don't be a wuss and run to mummy when they hit back.

8000 over 4 years is almost BAU though, so maybe the blood letting won't be as bad.

Just woke up in my own bed after 3 weeks interstate. Bliss... but gear grinding?
Brother picked me up at the airport. Standing outside at Williamtown, having walked down near the departure entrance because every man and his dog tries to get picked up in the one pick up/drop off bay at the arrival exit.
He calls me says he's just left Macca's car park and be there in a min. Said you can't miss me because there's no one at all in the first bay, just me. Sweet. Home time soon. 5 minutes later he calls me. Can't see me. Has done two laps.
Then asks "are you in the yellow pick up or the green one?" ****er drove down to Sydney to get me. :(

To be fair about the beer tasting bit.. I'll admit I've done it occasionally in the past at the Grainy, for several reasons:
a) I already knew what it was like, but I was being a frugal bastard (or had just been down at Customs bunging pineapples in to Mooooooore Chilli) and wanted some extra for free..
b) I wasn't willing to take a risk of paying $14 for a jalepeno infused coffee stout, but was intrigued with wtf it would be like..
c) When I was single and wanted to talk to the fit birds that work there, instead of just longingly stare silently from afar.. (Who ironically don't work there anymore, probably due to creepy patrons..)
As for the gelato/ice cream wankers.. I am with you there. I just don't get it.. And its not only the tasting before buying, its the idiotic lineups..
You see them all the time at the place on Zaara St, however nothing is as bad as Popopopopopopolo on King St.. That place, no matter what time of day, has morons lined up out the door..
I have trouble thinking of ANYTHING that I would line up out of the door for these days..

I don't really have one. I fell into a casual job with Telstra nearly 12 years ago after sucking at university. I've climbed my way up but have no qualifications in any field. 10 years or more in a job is about as good a qualification as you can get.
It shows that you are dedicated, demonstrates that you were always learning new systems and procedures, and because of that would have no issues transferring to another sector of employment.

It's got nothing to do with not being good enough. It's about a business / organisation restructuring.
Get a job in retail, work at a service station... whatever. If you don't have kids and so on to worry about you can work the hours most people don't want to making you very employable
Do that to keep the money coming in and who knows you might actually enjoy it.
Do some labouring... anything. Just don't wait for a job to be handed to you because it rarely happens.
Don't think of it as a step backwards either - it's capitalism - so all jobs are shit in the end and you really only work to make a handful of people you will never meet rich anyway.

As far as DJ's / musicians go. You just have to learn to appreciate different things. Its not that dissimilar from the difference between session musicians and songwriters/artists. What you think is better depends on whether you value creativity or technical ability on the "instrument". Because they are two very different things. Most famous guitarists aren't famous for being able to play the fastest, or the cleanest, or the most difficult licks. Its the fact that they conceive of them in the first place. How many thousands of guitarists can produce a perfect rendition of Stairway to Heaven? The technical ability to recreate it isn't the impressive part.
I tend to feel the same about DJs/producers, some of which are actually skillful musicians in their own right - the Presets are an electronic duo from Australia with a background in the Sydney Conservatorium where they studied classical music.
Yeah, its not as difficult to create the rhythm or melodies on a laptop as it is with instruments. But if that is all you're listening to music for then you are missing the point, and I can assume that you only listen to something like orchestral classical music where the technical difficulty and skill level is at its peak.
And I say this without trying to say that you have to like or enjoy different styles of music. But you can still appreciate the artistry or creativity that a composer has regardless of what tools they are using to enact their particular vision.

You are totally correct, BUT perhaps going down a different rabbit hole than what I think was originally intended..
I could be wrong, but I am assuming Dunster was referring to the sort of DJ you would see at your local pub/club.
Person (usually a hot chick) shows up, hits play, someone else's music comes out, acts like they are a genius and rocking the house..
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the skin, but I don't see how it requires a large amount of talent.. I've never done it, perhaps there is more to it than meets the eye..
I know I'm leaving myself open to all of the mixing and beat matching and all that stuff, I'm happy to be wrong and shown that that stuff takes the same amount of time to master as it does an instrument..

Jimmy Page was a session musician - He was the hired gun for producer Shel Talmy. Plenty of other session guitarists had successful careers as well. Glen Campbell made 40 albums 27 of which made the Billboard top ten. Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, Duane Allman, Eric Clapton, Steve Lukather... and the list goes on. All hired guns but also wrote, produced, and played some of the biggest selling albums / songs of all time.
DJ's don't come close.
Classical music has been dead for a long time - the few great players left are well past their best and the benchmarks of their instruments like Heifetz [violin] or Dennis Brain [Horn ] have not been equalled and probably never will be.

Fair point on that, I probably did interpret it more as a music producer rather than a live "DJ".
I too don't know much about that side of things and what it does and doesn't take to do it. I will say though that there's a huge difference between a chick who's curated an iTunes playlist of songs she likes, and some person who actually remixes and combines songs, takes samples etc to create a different take on existing songs. I can appreciate the time and thought that's gone into it and enjoy hearing familiar stuff in a different way.
Dunster, I'm not gonna try and compete with you on musician knowledge because you'll blow me out of the water. I would agree that in general, musicianship levels on instruments are not what they once were. And I wasn't saying that session musicians are not extremely talented - in fact that was my point. The fact that some of them have the talent and the creativity doesn't undermine my point either.
If I can leave people hitting play on songs they have nothing to do with out of it, when people are creating music (regardless of what instruments or medium is being used), its going to be received by very different people in very different contexts. Some styles will not appeal to you in general, but that doesn't mean there isn't stuff of value in there. And within styles that don't appeal to you, you will still find bits and pieces you can appreciate (whether its individual songs or just elements of them) and enjoy, and maybe transpose into a style that you enjoy more.
But there's also some music that is trash. Always has been and always will be.

The really worrisome thing about it is that since so much information is now disseminated by social media they should fall under the same rules as a phone company or postal service. because they are private companies who kind of get to make their own rules, just like your church.
you dont want gays in heaven, they dont want Alex Jones on facebook. is there some sort of difference here?

Private companies who are claiming to be platforms for a legal protection status and then act as publishers which actually removes their protection status
Only thing is at this point in time the law hasn't caught up to them
Since when is my church a private company? ?
Rules of my.church are pretty much set too
There ain't no grey areas unlike Zucker****ers site

The church makes revenue, the church pays employees, the church owns assets and the church spends money.
seems kind of company type behaviour to me..........except for the very generous tax status they seem to feel they deserve though right?
i cant get married in your church.
old mate and his mate cant get married in your church.
Church has rules, facebook has rules.
which part are you not understanding?

also, when Facebook and Twitter start geration long murderous wars and stir up hate and bigotry because of their fundamental defence of Macs over PC or some such other trivial bullshit then come talk to me about how ****ing stupid they are compared to religions.
anyway we are getting off topic, and doing it in the worng thread.

That's actually my thought train on the issue.
It's funny we had a video flagged (available to our patrons) on youtube. Whilst it met the community standards they flagged it as 18+. Yet (insert countless 16+ female singers here) are perfectly fine despite wearing less clothes than any of the models I shoot wear and dancing in ways that would make any visitor of No5 blush.

Ausgrid. Absolutely useless piles of shit those khunts. We have a tree dropping branches on powerline near us and they effectively told me to arrange / pay for one of their contractors to cut / trim the tree even though it's not on my property.

Never do it, Grimario. The delays are acceptable but they treat passengers like sh|t, which isn't.

the part we're all suffering through at the moment is that theres no escape from this
no football, no outside distractions - if we're lucky we have work - but otherwise we're all stuck indoors and on our phones, trapped in the 24 hour news cycle
as for the fear, this would be a lot, lot worse if it affected kids rather than the elderly - and I know that's truly awful

I don't work and I have no trouble finding things to do all day. Ride bikes, ride motorcycles, play guitar, play piano, program synths, do some recording, fly Rc planes, helicopters, Cars, Buggies, slot cars, do the gardening / landscaping, listen to music, play video games, go for a walk, take photos.......
I'm anti-social anyway so not really much of an adjustment for me to be isolated.
