Why the **** is Birraz still bouncing around like an idiot at the player shoots.

Second penalty he was still in the air as the shot was taken and he gave himself no chance for the last on.

But FFS, how bad were our penalty takers.

WolfMan

Agreed with Harper for once that Alivodic telegraphed his penalty massively. When he gave placing the ball and it rolled into the divot and then squared up on his approach, he was always going to side foot to the right.

No doubt about Alivodic telegraphing it, our penalties in general were woeful.

Whoever it was they were at it all game near us. I was already tired enough, they weren't bloody helping.

Watson, Haliti and Leaky G were great.. Poljak and Boogered were an improvement on last season and Hoffman needs to calm the fudge down and just play simple football.

Tommyjet
12-08-2015, 08:43 AM
Promising signs certainly. Like many have said poljak and Watson definitely an improvement on last seasons midfield. The effort and passion shown by haliti was refreshing and immense.
Carney was great but lacked confidence not in himself but cooper and Lundy who were both off the pace.
Can't wait now to see who comes in in the 9and 10 spot to combine with enver and carney

Crowley was good nuisance value but if we had someone more experienced up there we would have put the game to bed. Couldn't agree more on Watson and Kanta. Also highlight of the evening was easily Mullens air swing then pretend he was injured routine

I thought the longer the game went the better Poljak looked. He was still busting it in the 120th minute. Great to see. I think he is going to be a great signing for us.
Ive never been a huge fan of Haliti but his energy up front is really refreshing.
Lundy was terrible, didnt look interested and was so slow on the ball. Crowley the opposite, probably the best of the young guys ive seen come on up front. So much running and was really good at getting on the end of some balls through.
Carney, Enver and Leaky G all really good too. If we can in the end pick up a good 9 and 10 (dreaming?) i think we can actually push for a finals spot.

Light years beyond last seasons cup match.

With arguably are weaker squad.
Get the 10 and 9 sorted and we will trouble many teams.
Back four looked in control for large parts.

Get a keeper who can dominate the air between his line and the penalty spot and we'd be set.

With the new Salary Cap rules allowing cash outside the Cap for long serving players BK will be a Jet for life. Same with Kanta as I believe they are the only players that would qualify atm.

But we need someone with money willing to pay money that isn't covered by the salary cap... and regardless, why would we set aside BK money outside the cap so we could hire a third keeper?

This is a classic of the aussie football mentality, just like in our local comp.

Victory are the best by a country mile with supporters and facilities while Perth have moderate at best in both areas.
This is like saying, lets take the GF away from Magic and give to Weston or Cessnock???? both have inferior facilities but think they can do the job when reality shows they are way below par!!!!

As much as I was happy that Perf lost, they come up with some valid points here.
Fooked up the...you know where from all accounts. How p!ssed would we be if this happened to us?

The fallout from the FFA Cup final continues, with Perth Glory taking the game's governing body to task not just for playing the decider in Melbourne but for letting their hosts turn the showpiece match into a "Victory home game" when it was supposed to be staged in as neutral a venue as possible.

Glory are angry that their proposal to play the game in WA was turned down – they feel that the FFA never seriously considered it – and believe that with proper promotion the gate would have been higher in WA than it was in Melbourne, where a crowd of just over 15,000 turned up to watch Victory win 2-0.

In a letter to the FFA obtained by Fairfax Media, Glory chief executive Peter Filopoulos says the governing body dropped the ball over its decision to stage the game in the Victorian capital, a move many outsiders saw as a grab for cash on the assumption that Victory supporters would shell out for the tickets, regardless of how expensive they were. In the end they didn't, with the game's governing body attracting a torrent of criticism for pricing match tickets at a high of $80 and a low of $40.

Filopoulos says the FFA needs to think about more than simple "commercial opportunities" when deciding venues for such games.

"It was a missed opportunity to engage and re-engage a strong football community in WA over a city which is well accommodated by two A-League teams and hosted an A-League grand final only a matter of months ago," said Filopoulos, who pointed out that Perth attracted 19,000 fans to nib Stadium for the Socceroos match against Bangladesh – hardly a top-drawer attraction – in the World Cup qualifier in September.

"It is clear that what wasn't taken into consideration in your decision to host the final in Melbourne was (1) ticket pricing and (2) the financial fatigue of consumers on the back-end of a busy spring racing carnival week in Melbourne. Perth would have provided a better option as a venue clean of any competition entertainment options provided the ticket pricing was thought through more carefully.

"In our view, your venue selection criteria is skewed towards the larger clubs and cities and other considerations should also be given weighting other than just 'commercial outcomes'."

Glory, who also reached the final a year earlier and had to play in Adelaide (where they also lost), were also upset that there appeared to be little attempt to present AAMI Park as a neutral venue.

Although Melbourne was the host city, Glory pointed out, this should not have been a Victory home game but an FFA-run event.

"Our fans were shunted in a corner of a stadium like any other 'away game' and at one stage even had the big FFA Cup balloon hovering in front of them so they couldn't see the teams walk out.

"Melbourne Victory fans were provided with their normal active zone seating, North End and South End. Hardly a neutral venue presentation.

"There was no equality shown in deciding dressing rooms, benches, training facility access etc. We tried in vain to access the gym at the venue pre and post-game and permission was withheld by Melbourne Victory.

"Who held the booking to the venue for the FFA Cup final, Victory or FFA? Melbourne Victory were allocated their normal change rooms without consideration to 'flip the coin' on all aspects of the venue presentation and access.

"In our view, if FFA held the booking at AAMI Park, all facilities should have been given equal access and due consideration, including training facilities. In fact, Melbourne Victory's vendor for sports presentation was also running the sports presentation on the night."

Going through problems here in Switzerland... As to where the cup final should be held for 81 of the 92 years (approx) it has been held in Bern (the capital) yes a super league plays in the that stadium, but its is bidded as the national stadium...

However a lefty goverment in the city of bern placed artificial turf in the stadium and has said it will not host any cup or swiss national team games... ARGH!!!!

Now last season was held in basel ok with that I guess but it does belong in Bern!!! and this season cup is going to be held in Zurich in the athletic stadium letzigrund (****S!!!!) and the year after planned in Genf...

Australia will always have the problem of the logistical side of things re cup finals or grandfinals! but I do believe it should be either just 1 stadium that holds things or the stadium is announced prior to the season--- Like champions league style most of you culd get the reference...

What the above article says re the stadium... sounds like a total rip off... for the final only to get that little away corner is a joke...

We dont have the people (yet) to do a half stadium deal like you see for example the FA Cup.. but fair access and equal should be allowed!

I think the FFA need to be very careful how Mel/Syd centric they become. It is becoming more apparent, in their commercials, the Foxtel coverage and media releases. Still remember Bozza two seasons ago - a Jets game finished and back at the studio he said "let's talk about this later and get out to the derby, I'm so excited".

Both Melbourne and Sydney get their fill of major events and need to share the love if they want there to be a true national competition. Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle and maybe the Coasties and Wellington would have got more than 15000 for a cup final against MV, the opportunity to win a trophy in front of your own fans is a big event. As it was the game had that sense of inevitability about it - Perth needed that home advantage to compete.

They're suburbs of Sydney and Melbourne.

Will no doubt be amalgamated into the super dooper 8 team league of four teams each from Melbun and Sidney.
