Yeah wow, Dudley boys let themselves down big time. That community are stuck in the 80's it seems. Says a lot about that club now.

I've seen the screenshot, and the comment from one player was poor and there is no place for those comments ever. I also note that there were a few laughs from other players in the group chat.

You then use a comment from one player and laughed at by a few in a private player chat, as a basis to question the character of the Dudley community and the Club as a whole.

I know quite a few involved with the Dudley Club and they are good people. I find your comments tarnishing the Dudley community and club equally offensive.

I've heard you bang on in here about everyone knowing who you are. For a leader of a club to make

If you are a committee member, you will understand that there are processes. NNSW has a social media policy, If it's a major issue there is a process to follow.

Your comments First time round were poor, In my opinion made quickly on emotion. With time to reflect on this and your reply shows a complete lack of leadership from a committee member. You could have retracted or changed your stance but you didn't.

You had a go at the Dudley community and Dudley club, You singled them out. You can't go around blaming the Dudley community and club for everything. But you have tried to make out you are the victim. Show some leadership, accountability and balls and admit your comments were out of order.

You can tell it?s grand final week. Even by this threads standards the tensions are high. I think everyone just needs to cool off a bit and look ahead to the actual football being played this weekend.

Sunday brings a close (at least temporarily) to the best rivalry in Newcastle football in recent years and very rarely does this fixture not deliver.

If you are free Sunday afternoon get down to Darling St. Zone league football has a different atmosphere vibe to NPL and is far better imo.

It?s all been happening this week. But the football is just around the corner. Weather forecast is good and fittingly the last 2 games of the year are the fiercest of rivals going at it for the last time (I think Suns will be next promoted)
There has been some extra petrol thrown on the fire as if it needed any.
Good to see Uni through to a GF and we?re 2min away from a first grade GF. Super season for Uni as a club. No one had them in their top 5 at the start of the season let alone that close to a GF.

Sunday should be 3 good games. 3rds I think Dudley to strong a few more that have been there and won it before 2-1
Res and First toss a coin. Should be quality football. Very physical and could go either way but hopefully Dudley?s.

Again this comp has provided the most competitive comp on the field and been pretty even. Off the field the most action also. Hopefully Sunday lives up to it

What an entertaining game. A full credit to Dudley from a neutral person. It isn't easy playing with 8 against 11 at any game or level. Their CB won't forget his two error (miss clearance in 96"), and giving away a penalty later. Congrats to Suns for the GF, and Dudley for promotion and playing in NewFM.

5 red cards for Dudley on the day isn?t the refs fault (including the reserve grade keeper that ran 50 metres to get involved for his second yellow), they should?ve been down to 10 in firsts after 5 mins with that challenge that sent our midfield engine off, if that later in the game it was straight off
No mention of the dudley supporters who on 2 seperate occasions came into our active supporter area to calls us wogs (honestly don?t care) and everything under the sun with no reaction from our supporters, quickly escorted away by duty officers and security including more crap after the game(and shit to females and kids), don't have the time to even go into that
Not saying some of our boys were angels on the day but don?t make out like it all went one way

He was just outside the box (not 30m) and the Dudley player did not make a football challenge. That's now a red. The fact he passed it has nothing to do with how the law is applied in this situation.

Pretty sure the rule is if the ref played advantage and suns scored, he can only give a yellow to the Dudley player.

But yeah, it was a red and yeah the ref stuffed up not playing advantage.

Is it possible to take any satisfaction prevailing over a team with 8 men especially after conceding a goal when your opponents are 3 players short? Not trying to cause trouble just genuinely curious. Dudley were a minute away from arguably the greatest GF win in local Newcastle football history

Good question. As a neutral what a game to watch.
You can?t blame the ref for the headbutt, or the second YC that resulted in the third send off. Even when Coxie was sent if the ref had played advantage there isn?t a Red Card but it was still an awful tackle with no chance of getting the ball so he was getting a card either way. There?s a solid case for a send off early in the game too - YC given but it was a horrible challenge. It?s hard to see on the replay because of the angle but I reckon he was lucky to stay out there.
The penalty is pretty obvious on the replay though it was hard to see at the time.
In short, Dudley were let down by several of their players not by the ref. They still nearly pinched it, which would have been a win for the ages. Great goal to put Dudley ahead too. A shame for them it wasn?t the winner, and the AP goal with seconds left would break most team.
Congratulations to both teams for showcasing Zone football.

Committee members on here were getting all high and mighty about a private chat Dudley players had and then they allow their supporters to represent the club like this, very hypocritical of them but to be expected.

All the red cards were justifiably red cards, the penalty was a very soft call and a get out of jail free card for Suns.

For 40 minutes Suns had 3 extra players on the field and could only manage one clear goal and they conceded I am feeling embarrassed for them, at least some of the Suns players could feel that too and didn't engage in the soft penalty celebrations. A lucky game to win, well done to Dudley for holding them out as long as they did, one bad kick away from winning it, but Suns made it look easy.


No wonder they don't want to be promoted if the score after 20 minutes with 3 extra players is 1-1. They're socials are saying it is a comeback they won't still forget, I'd be wanting to take the win and forget about the game as soon as possible.

If they are finishing lower than teams like Wallsend, Thornton & Singleton then they will have had a really awful time in NL1 - worse than I predicted. I can't imagine a team used to winning would then go thru a season of losing and being relegated and feel happy about it.

Anyway the quality of football was just as bad as the off field drama. I’m glad I didn’t have to pay to watch that, and even happier I didn’t bring my kids to it.

Was hugely entertaining. Best atmosphere I have seen locally (NPL and Jets games).

2 of my 3 kids went and they loved it too...the banter they heard on the hill area was reasonably hilarious too.

The video shows a beer can come from off screen. The beer can also landed closer to the goalkeeper than the suns player. After the goal, it was claimed by members of the Dudley crowd that the can was thrown by someone in a red shirt. The goalkeeper protested to the linesman about the can, claiming it was thrown at him.

Your comment comes from a biased position, which may be understandable. On balance, it was unclear who the can was thrown at, or by whom. Otherwise the perpetrator would have been kicked out. Without completely doxxing myself, I was there in a volunteer capacity and in the vicinity of that incident. In retrospect, the day probably needed more security present (easy to say after the fact).

I went to GF and went with my brother and his two kids.
I thought it was an embarrassment to Football at this level in the region.

Contest was over after 60 odd minutes with the red cards. Dudley showed fight but suns should have killed game off. There were some decent players on both sides.

But I thought the crowd in general was embarrassing and reminded me of a lower grade Hunter Rugby League final. Hardly a family friendly occasion, language was atrocious. Is this sort of stuff just accepted these days?

I heard from a guy at work that the megaphone was taken away by security and Newcastle Olympic and returned to Suns by Newcastle Football? Sounds a little odd.
Guy that went on field for Suns to talk to Bar TV guy was the main guy on megaphone that I could see. Talked alot of dribble , not a great look for Suns if he is their rep. A few Dudley guys lost their crap after being baited by the Suns supporters. Again embarrassing, I won't be back if Suns or dudley are involved again.

To everyone else, that was a crazy game of football. Some random thoughts on the game:

- Dudley were 30 seconds away from pulling off the best win in Newcastle football history.

- Number 8, Charlie Halsley (think i'm misspelling it) for Dudley must have covered 30kms that game... what a work horse.

- The Palozzis once again proving they are the most dominant footballing family in Newcastle. If Alex lost 30kgs he could play for the Jets.

- I'm not sure how the right back for Dudley didn't get sent off for that disgraceful challenge on the Suns midfielder in the first few minutes of the game... I'd be surprised if he didn't break or fracture his leg.

- It was bizarre to see Suns fans singing those songs in what sounded like the Bulgarian language. I have never heard any of the other ethnic clubs doing that (Azzurri, Croatia, Olympic) and I don't think that has a place in Australian football.

- Some of the bad eggs in the Dudley fanbase have tarnished the whole club with their behaviour.

- Suns fans at least had some songs to sing, the Dudley fans songs, which was mainly sung by about four or five mums, was honestly laughable.

- Dudley can blame Tully for their loss IMO. A senior player with his experience and quality getting sent off for something to stupid so early in a grand final match is probably one of the low points in his career. Not only did he do that, but the attempted """punches""" that he threw after the initial altercation was probably one of the saddest things I've seen in years. No comment on his fathers behaviour after the send off because he's been like that for years -- an absolute bellend.

I can guarantee you now, most of the bigger clubs in zone league 1 pay players. Not all players but some DEFINITELY get paid.

Well Mr B, if you were as smart as you make out, you would know that Northern do monitor the bank balances of clubs, you are supposed to give your financial records to them and players who are paid are even regoed differently to players that are not paid. It is called a professional player registration/contract.

As we are community football and we are not run by Northen and as such they don't look at our books technically the same and our players are not registered the same as a paid player is yet, but that is coming.

If they did that this year some clubs and some players could be in trouble (tax evasion is a crime).

Alot of talk this year about Cardiff, They were extremely lucky not to go down previous year. So they had to do something otherwise they would have went down this year.

They did bring in a few players, But they also got some very good players that previously played for their first grade out of their all age ranks. So they did heavily recruit within, Something that has probably been missed by a few.

Full credit to them on backing a rookie coach. They gave him a chance and he hasn?t given them a reason to get rid of him yet.

Going through socials I see many clubs looking for coaches right now. It?s a hard and time consuming job so hats off to all coaches putting their time in.

i agree i feel less clubs pay than dont pay in zone leagues
its mainly rumours and hype
costs a lot of money to keep a club running every season without paying players

Very true in the short term Taffy, but a club with an approach like that - well it doesn't always go well in the long term.

I recall a club back in the late 80's that came along all guns blazing, but fell over and folded like a dud for 30 odd years. Similar approach to what you?re suggesting. All piss and wind at the end of the day.

But now?s another era I guess. Let's hope for local footballs sake though, it doesn't happen again.

I don?t know what you have seen, but reserves will hold there own aswell, 3rds on the other hand, we will have to just wait and see how they go.

Thats the only negative for mine. keeping the grade aligned with the top 2 each week.

Alternative is to have a draw that that plays at home on home game day but maybe against different opposition. Depending on the number of teams have 3 rounds if 8 teams.

Does it matter? Its a choice. No problems.

It's a slippery slope. Once it's gone, it won't come back. Rather than trying to help the couple of clubs that are struggling to get third grade numbers (or allowing them to continue in ZL3), the federation should be trying to help bring people to Zone Football, not push them away.
I think you'll find with it being optional, that Olympic won't have a third grade. They are outside of the promotion conversation, so they can just sit in ZL1 and concentrate on just keeping two grades afloat.

Plenty will disagree with me and already have, but the best thing about having three grades is being able to keep players at clubs for a longer period of time. Creating and keeping that club culture. Having a diverse range of players from your younger boys coming through the ranks, even children of guys that have been or even still play and are involved in clubs, that's what's special.
If it wasn't for third grade, there would be plenty of people who are heavily involved with clubs that probably would have never been there without that avenue. Not everyone that joins Zone League jumps straight into first and reserve grade.
