Not sure if serious and looking for who the Honourable Member was trying to slander in the local game, or taking the piss, given most on here know the Member's love for all things GvE, Deans and Middleby :sup:
Azzurri 2 Jets Yoof 1
2 first half crackers from distance for Azzurri Kale with a second half effort for Jets.:fap:
Both sides were shit and can see why neither are in semis.
Jets midfielders were a ****ing disgrace defensively in the first half. Back 4 had 3 young rookies a little out of depth and got **** all support.
How that Lundy bloke is getting time with the seniors is a modern day mystery. No final pass and needs 4 touches everytime as he sets off Ronaldo style before coughing up the ball or crossing out for a goal kick or aimlessly to no one:banghead:
Blake Green I am still confused how he gets a look in at this level at all:banghead:
Kale was crap too:banghead:
U23's Azzurri 1-0
U19's Jets Yoof 4-1 qualify for semis
U17's Jets Yoof 6-0
I was thinking how good it will be to not have to watch that again anytime soon until the realisation hit me I have the HAL to look forward to:banghead:

MFKS Yes we are finally on then same page this is what I was trying to say a couple of weeks ago without mentioning names. You can have all the speed in the world but if you do not have a football brain??? But still gets rewarded??? You me and not sure who else can see it??? So maybe we see things the same. Summarizes the season no support to the defence and not good up front. I thought the boys did ok today with such a young side I think the average age would have been 17 I know of 4 16 year olds 4 17 year olds 2 18 year olds plus the shit keeper which is embarrassing can not see why they would not give the local kid a go who is only 16 but was doing well for the first half of the year. It amuses me to see from what I have heard they are paying the kids that were brought in from Sydney some playing in the 23s and not rewarding local kids that are playing week in week out in 1st grade. They wonder why kids leave the area to chase their dream or give it away to go back to club land to earn some $$$$. IMO sending the wrong message.

Brady Parker got sent. 1st yellow a late challenge on swanny, 2nd yellow for kicking the ball away..
Pretty dull game in my opinion. Last 20 got a little better once the game started to open up

Yeah I witnessed this today, my first chance this season to sneak over and watch a game. Mind you I didn't think Weston were that terrible, they have a few young lads that are gonna be decent but just gave the ball away a bit too often. Thornton and cousins struggled to handle majurovski and the big dude, especially when maj dropped into space and played a few through on goal. Good entertainment at half time with a van exploding into flames up the road but in view of those sitting on the eastern side of the ground.

no problems until Ben smith opened his mouth apparently, didnt witness anything personally but was told all blown out of proportion, those involved were not southy supporters either, really was hand bags at 10 paces, edgy like to talk it up as if their always hard done by, theres always two sides to a story, he said she said, I'm leaving it at that, back to the footy

I was there, the pissed guy stirring Edgey at the end singing out Solo Cup.... If he wasn't a southy fan I don't know what is. Just after half time I overheard a young Edgey player disgusted at the things being said to Ben Smith behind the goal and confirmed exactly what was infered in the herald.
A drunken idiot singing stupid songs doen't offend me, but it's not a good look for Southy as a club.

Drunken?, Idiot?, Edgeworth?... How many times do we here these words in the same sentence... Where were the RSA Marshals, Duty Officers, Security Guards? Lets hope NNSWF warms up their book throwing arm.
I was about 15 mtrs away and truly was a nothing situation. Yes the small group were heckling the keeper and yes he responded in kind. I did say to the bloke i was watching the game with that the Edgy keeper would have done better by simply ignoring them remain focused on the game and making his point to club officials during the break.
He must have made mention at halftime as a member of the Edgy club approached them after halftime and asked them to keep a lid on things which they did do after the chat.
Again it was areally a non event much like the first half of the game. Edgy clearly dominated the second.

Lets focus on the football being played and the finals, I know a lot of the supporters on here, their teams wont be involved in the finals, but as a supporter of football in general these are good times to watch games, a lot of excitement and tension.
There was some good football played this round with Olympic beating magic 2-0 all be it the game meant no result to magic and they treated like a training run.
Charlestown sent Wilson off on a high and overtook Southy in their final position, Lakes continued to finish strongly and Jaffas thumped Weston 8-0 who are remarkably still playing semi final football.
There is a lot to focus on apart from a small spectator incident. After all, we cant blame the club, you cant stop a spectator turning up to the game and carrying on like an idiot, the only action you can do is ban them from attending home games.
Lets move on to the football and the finals, and Lambton finished in second place in their first season!
Finishing positions so close between 2nd and 5th that it had to be decided on the final day, so close that any one of 3 teams could have dropped out of 5th position on the final day! Closest finish I can remember for some time.
Predictions?
Sat- Edgey vs Weston......Edge
Sun- Jaffas vs Olympic....... Olympic on pens (worth 2 points!)

Interesting you think edge are one of the top 2 teams, given that Olympic and Lambton finished in front of them/.
Also given that Olympic just beat Edge and that Lambton beat both Edgeworth and Olympic twice and Magic once.
Interesting theory on Edge being one of the top 2 teams!
I do think out of the top 5 teams there is nothing between the top 4, that anyone of these teams faced against each other could go either way on the day.
After the weekend I cant include Weston in those 4.
Athough Weston could go the other way and sometimes a team that has been smashed can come out the next week and lift their performance and cause an upset!
Up for some exciting Semis.

Although Weston suffered an embarrassing loss on the weekend, and were outplayed by a better team, i would expect a huge improvement against Edgy this week. If you look at their games against top six teams this year that was only their second loss. They beat Olympic twice, Magic once and could have easily taken a point from their second game, and have drawn with edgy both times this year in which the second game Edgeworths performance was one of the better I have seen this year, the Weston defence was hard to break down. Not saying the Bears will get over the line on the Saturday, but it will be a very tight game in my opinion.
The game on Sunday between Jaffas and Olympic also shapes up to be a tight affair, with Olympics defence hard to break down, I think Lambton might just sneak home.

Does anyone else find it stupid how all the Jaffas articles in the Herald this season have been about how they are underdogs and are over achieving this season?
I mean FFS they have spent close to the most (if not the most) in the league and have man for man the best squad. All this bullshit that most haven't played in the NBN League before is a joke. Every single player has except for the Central Coast lads and the ones who have been professionals for their whole careers!
With that squad to not win it is under achieving not over achieving!
Perhaps Kevin Cranson being heavily involved at the Jafs gets them all these fluff pieces!

haha youve lost it mate. herald tipped jaffas to come 9th, didnt hear many people tipping us for glory at the start of the season. admittedly now we are contenders but the squad isnt that expensive and werent superstars at the start of the season. we had maj and abe wheelhouse? we then had some great pickups with ireland in goals (who was an injury doubt and not sure if he was even going to play, so a risky acquisition) and obviously great to get Jobe.
other than that we have kept the core of the team that we played in NEWFM, who wouldnt be on significant cash (im assuming, i have no knowledge of player contracts), and picked up players who were not big names- tommy smart, connor evans, robbie ambrogetti etc etc.
sorry for the essay- but its true we were underdogs, and its a credit to the players/coaches that they have all lifted to be contenders- tommy smart and connor evans making the northern select side is proof. also of the top of my head tanch has given first grade runs to at least 5 players who have come through U/19s at Jaffas, which is pretty good from a side freshly promoted?

Not whinging...good on them for beating most of the league. But you don't hear Magic or Olympic calling themselves underdogs nor did Charlestown claim they over achieved last year?
Just saying that the Jafs need to stop with the rubbish they sprout about being underdogs and over achieving. Facts are they have best squad in the league and are spending more money than most (probably all) in the league.
Underdogs are teams that don't have the same quality or resources of their opponents...The Jafs have more money and quality than most at the moment, why the continual dribble in the Herald every second week.

Just because you are a newly promoted team doesn't mean you're an underdog or spending small cash...Look at Monaco newly promoted in the French Ligue 1. Huge money and signing huge players..they are not an underdog despite being their first year up for a while.
I don't want to list every player one by one, but the 3 you mentioned all have decent NBN experience and 1 was wanted by the Jets, they are hardly no name players.
You have got 3 players who have been fulltime professionals in the starting 11 and all are under well under 30...what other team has that?
Jaffas have done ok...but they aren't underdogs and never were.

i just find it hard to believe that jaffas would have a higher wage bill than at least 3 other clubs. maybe they'll be paying more next year with the improvement of a lot of their players, but at the start of this season there couldnt have been many that commanded big wages. and the ones that did came for other reasons (maj mates with tanch, jobe to play with his brother, ireland had mates at the club).

Mate all i can say is well done to the jaffas,
first year in the league and a top 2 finish, give credit where credit is due.
But lets see if they can back it up next year and not have that second year syndrome, i thought some teams this year expected to turn up and get gifted the points against jaffas.. Now they should been seen as a threat.(a bit like azzurri this year)

You know our wage budget, our players, what individual players are getting paid??
Are you our president? Secretary perhaps?
If so why are you bagging our club??
SOMETHING DOES NOT ADD UP!
and for your info your along long way away from the wage budget, individual budgets and players who play NBN!
we have 5 known NBN players not 15!
Faroe you say you don't want to list every player (you must know a lot about us), but I will list them for you!
Here are a list of our players in the first grade squad who HAVE NOT been regular 1st grade players or even played 1 full season in first grade NBN League.
1. Tom Smart
2. Mick Lawrence
3. Terry Dries
4. Matt Kenny
5. Adrian Perisic ( a reserve grade player at Lakes as stated by Chris Turner)
6. Robbie Ambroghetti
7. Matt Wilks
8. Ben Herron
9. Riley McNaughton
10. Geoff Gonninan
2 or 3 of these guys may have had an odd game in 1st grade to fill in, but havnt been a first grade player
Here are a list who has played NBN or higher
1. John Maj
2. Jobe
3. Danny Ireland
4. Connor Evans

We have not bragged at all, but there is no denying we are extremely happy and proud that our 1st grade has done far beyond expectation, The herald tipped us to come 9th.
2nd is a great achievement for us in our first year. Hopefully we can back it up next year with a god finish :)

haha how do YOU know so much information about our club!

Come on jaf jaf,not bagging Jaffas here, well done on a great season first year up. But I think this is the point faroe is trying to make in a roundabout way. Again you try and play it down. It is a small town and all the players talk and know who is on what, but it is no ones concern what each clubs budget is. If you have a hard working committee and can spend more on players than other clubs so what. Spending big money doesn't guarantee success just look at lakes, but I do have to pick on how you always talk your squad down. Tom smart got plenty of first grade time at magic in the strongest first grade squad over two years. Ambroghetti played first grade at phoenix sought and Olympic, started in at least 8 matches last year in Olympics minor premier side.matt Wilkes played first grade at edgy before travelling overseas. Perisic played first grade for lakes for two years including the season lakes ran second. I also think your leaving the best left fullback in the comp mick sessions out of your squad, sure he plays first grade for you last time I checked. So realistically from your starting 11, Ireland, smart,Wilkes perisic, sessions, ambrogheeti,Evans wheelhouse, littler wheelhouse, maj have all played plenty of nbn not to mention jobs being a 200 game a league captain and Ireland having played in england. Hang on a minute jaf jaf,I agree with Faroe, stop trying to talk it down you underdog

Does anyone else find it stupid how all the Jaffas articles in the Herald this season have been about how they are underdogs and are over achieving this season?
With that squad to not win it is under achieving not over achieving!
Welcome to coaching 101.
No matter how good you're going, you are always the underdog.
Des Hasler/Craig Bellamy do it, Gypos do it, Alex Ferguson did it.
Jesus, if Don Bradmans 1948 Invincibles were around today they would call themselves underdogs.
Nothing original about the Jaffas approach there.

I don't think anyone is talking it down, if anything we are tryin to stay grounded rather than bagging
We are saying the young guys Jo havnt been able to cement a spot are "unproven" first graders IN NBN!
Tom smart couldn't cement a spot, Ambroghetti couldn't cement a spot.
If you compare the other 4 top 5 teams and even sth Cardiff, Charlestown and lakes, we have far less players who are cemented or proven 1st grade nbn players.
As I said some of these guys may have played nbn 1st grade time to time but never been a first team regular.
Nobody is talking it down! In fact these guys are guys who should be credited with playing this level and proving themselves.
However the Herald did know our squad and picked us to come 9th for a reason! The names in our squad!
We were underdogs all year. After our first loss to Valentine everyone was saying a long year for the Jaffas. Never heard any of you guys standing up and saying hang in a minute! They have the highest paid squad, they have a gun team! They are not under dogs they are favorites!
And I'm sure you still wouldn't if we were second last.
However I am glad that now after our performance everyone is putting us up here with Olympic and magic rather than down there with valentine like they all were at the start of the season!
Not sure why we went from everyone picking us to be second last at the start of the season to everyone now saying you guys were never under dogs!
If you go back to the start of this thread u won't find one person that had us picked for top 5.
I mean we wouldn't expect you to say you had a great season Jaffas above expectation well done.

Fair point.
If nobody predicts you to finish in top half of table and you finish 2nd I would call that an underdog?
Not sure how you could argue with that.
However now based on the season Jafas have had they would now not be underdogs and have to be considered contenders.

I would call it over performing, which goes back to FM's point that we weren't.
At the end of the day:
Jaffas were underdogs at the start of the season, no arguments, they were. Newly promoted. As will Rosebuds compared to the rest of the league, bar maybe Lakes, dependant on how they recruit.
Have they over performed in comparison to people's expectations? Coming 2nd when tipped 9th? Yep.
Are they now underdogs? Depends on the game. Against Magic? I reckon they are. Against Valentine? Maybe not.

woodsy with a stupid red card for throwing a ball at a player, when edgy were 1-0 up and cruising. seemed like weston player might have given woodsy a nudge with his foot when he was on the ground and woodsy got up and reacted to it, had to go. weston then came back into the game, although palozzi looked a threat throughout the match. wilson (i think) got sent to the stands at full time after saying something to ref. edgy probably better team, weston had some good chances though. weston equaliser a bomb. edgys keeper should have saved at least 1 of the penalties that he let in, probably 2. shoutout to edgys 6th penalty taker pinging his top corner! thats all i can think off to share!

"Pratty is Pratty and he got involved in a few mind games at one stage with one of them, and as a keeper you’re always looking to unsettle penalty takers.’" from the herald weston's coach.
If he is referring to edgeworths second penalty pratty was trying to put the guy off. But the player just pushed him out of the way, and slotted the penalty. Mind game didn't work IMO.
Just on that why wasn't that player sent off as well? He struck another player similar to woods throwing the ball at the weston players. Surely if things were to be consistent the penalty taker should have been sent? Pretty woeful game by the referee IMO.
Good game overall in tough conditions the was really blowing in regulation time especially. Weston very lucky winners.

Jaffas up 4-2 over Olympic in penalties after a 1 all draw after 120 mins. Jobe Wheelhouse got sent after about 75 minutes
Jaffas got to take their first penalty 3 times because twice Swancott moved off his line before the Jaffas player had kicked it and saved the pen. Both correct calls by the assistant. Ireland saved the crucial penalty to send the Jaffas to Wanderers next week.

If Jaffas beat magic this weekend and go straight to GF then jobe is ineligible because of his suspended week added to his automatic 1... And if the fed rescind his suspended week suspension so he can play in the GF... Then i'm sure there will be a riot from the other 9 clubs in front of the NNSWF office on monday morning after the GF.

Only yellow cards start again it doesn't reset his red cards. I thought he woulg be out 3 games. That is his 2nd red card for the year which is an automatic 2 match suspension plus he has the 1 match from his suspended match that got rescinded. Doesn't that make 3 ?

Correct,
When a game suspension is suspended it counts for the normal season only.
We had exactly the same situation 2 years ago. Cards are for regular season only.
Jobe will be available after next weeks game, so he will be eligible for GF or for the next semi

You only get 2 games if its a second straight red.
2 yellows are only 1 game automatic.
Also ALL CARDS are reset for finals series as it is not part of the regular season.

Not wishing to start a ruckus but was Swancott booked for the leaving the line early aspect??
Considering it happened twice one would assume he got at least 1 card.
Not 100% on it but isn't the leaving the penalty line early for keeper an automatic yellow???

Agree with backstick. Depends on the opinion of the referee, first time was probably "every keeper does it but he got caught one", 2nd one was probably his last chance, had he jumped early again (which he did) and saved it, you would have to imagine he would have been, then the fourth time was probably another yellow.

The quality of some of the goals were exceptional.....there were some bombs, some classy finishes and some great team goals. One that sticks to mind was the 2nd Magic goal which started from well within their own half after their CB won the ball and released it, a sweeping counter-attack ensued with the end result being the same CB scoring from 6 yards out after continuing his run. For entertainment value the game had it all but I'm sure the coaches would be pulling their hair out from some of the defending.

Before I start..I want to say I have no affiliation with either Southey or edgy.
Edgeworth. How can the federation allow repeated yearly infringements from their coaching staff against members of other clubs or federation officials. These infringements include violence and abuse each year.
South Cardiff . Players need to toughen up. They are paid employees and being yelled at over a fence is really no big deal..although Southey really should act in a positive manor to cut the issue now as people who get away with inappropriate behaviour tend to push the boundaries further and the club will find itself in trouble

Indeed, when Edgeworth players and staff jump the fence to fight opposition supporters and said players also attack committee members who try to intervene... its all he said she said... members of the game, i.e players and coaches should be held to a higher standard than the general public. Not good enough as usual, a coach ranting to the Herald gets a higher sanction (8 weeks) than a player jumping the fence to fight the crowd (2weeks).

What are people hearing in terms of player movements? With this new point system i am hearing some clubs already approaching players, as they try to fill their point quotas with the best quality before it is to late. Here are some of the rumours i have heard. I stress these are rumours and i will not be stating the names of the clubs i hear these players being approached by, as it wouldn't be right as the comp is still going.
Olympic
both swans
Hodgo RET
Lakes
Mooney
Mcpherson
Mathews RET
burt RET
Smith
Edgy:
Wheeler
Dodd
Polozi
The boy of Hill (not sure of first name)
Hammel
(plus a couple of players retiring. they will find it hard next season)
Southy
Bures
front man Faj

Azzurri
Bird
plus a couple having to move away.
Obviously these are rumors i have heard from various places. Interesting to note even if half of these are true some teams would be very weak next season, considering the points system.
P.S i didnt want to mention any current team as it could disrupt their final hopes.

Time will tell.
Jaffas won 4-2 on penalties after 1-1 draw
Magic scored through a Majurovski penalty after about 15 mins. Jaffas look comfortable and Olympic arsed a goal in the last minute they barely deserved. 2 mins into extra time and Olympic had the chance to nail the Jaffas with a penalty of their own. Mason Campbell hit a weak effort down the middle and Danny Ireland saved. Extra time petered out with Olympic shading it.

Of course they are. They ain't ****ing mugs.
Jobe will be a big addition to Jaffas, they have a fantastic keeper in Ireland and are solid in defence and with Maj up front they have some attacking punch with Dries and the two wide mids and they play some good stuff in the final 3rd and Magic are not the strongest at the back.
What will be a loss for Jaffas is young Abe Wheelhouse limped off in the second half.Magic will start deserved favourites but are no certainties and many will view Jaffas as a big show

haha i dont see why the goalkicks is an issue at all. he actually has a massive kick when he needs to, he has had a history of knee problems so doesnt see the point in risking injury, no matter how small the risk, and if he can just get someone else to take the goalkicks it makes sense.

It does look odd particularly when he does regularly kick clearances long from back passes and hoofs it up the park from the hands without any hesitation or apparent concerns yet the rest of the time won't take a goal kick :sigh:

Was very good coverage really, though the cameras were off centre.....odd that Rabs was there and not next door watching his beloved Knights. His commentary was sometimes cringeworthy - typical of a league guy trying to cover the round ball game ( I remember Daryl Eastlake doing it once). One good moment when Rabs head gets into shot !
Also sounded like an old fashioned stereo LP - voices to the left and crowd to the right ? Picture quality was excellent.
Levity comes from the sage words of Newcastle's very own "Mr Football" - Bridgey.

FFS. There's 250pts for next year yeah? Assuming the attached post is accurate, the Jaffas have 48 points to play with for next year. Remington has signed, so theres 10 point plus 8 for switching (if he attracts that, due to playing for the Jets), so 230, leaving 20, possibly 28, left over. Plenty to sign 1-3 more, assuming no one leaves the Jaffas, and loyalty bonuses aren't activated, which I am not privy to. I suggest you do some research before commenting on other clubs.

To my understanding of the system Blokes like Remington or anyone who comes back to the NBN League from HAL clubs are not subject to as severe pinging for the change of clubs aspect. Think you will find he will attract **** all above the 10 points per player and won't be subject to the 8 point penalty for switching clubs

Grey area being the Jets Yoof are competing in the same comp I know. But the system is not designed to punish the blokes who go into the elite pathways and not make it and come back or the clubs who pick them up

Why? Wouldn't he count as a "Pathway Player", as Faj and Abe would have for Cardiff and Lambton respectively? I take it the Youth aren't going to be restricted to this point value system (let's just ignore whether that's right or wrong ATM) either, so players moving from them shouldn't be classified as a player moving from Olympic to Weston, for example.
And dammit, the Member beat me.

if nnswf allow them to move without penalty then maybe nnswf should allocate them a club, if the jets release say 2 players then that allows only 2 clubs, or one, to pick up a free player, hardly fair, pathway players are only counted when returning to your previous club,

I think your right about it being a grey area and I think there may be some interesting decisions in the future about players returning to the NPL as Pathway Players.
My reading of insert below taken from the document is that it is designed for players returning to their original club otherwise they are considered switching players.
"No penalty for players who have left a club, joined a pathway team and subsequently returned to the club"
I think this would more than likely be to reward the original club for the players "junior development" and stop other clubs from grabbing them as they come back out of the Elite programs and reaping the rewards.
I do acknowledge though that I have not read the document in any great depth so I am willing to concede others know far more than me

I am positive Remington will pick up the 8 points. I was told the 8 points isn't applied only if for eg kale was at magic, went to the jets, then returned to magic again so he would only be a 10 point player in that situation. If he went magic to jets and then signed with jaffas he would be 18 points

You're probably right under the that classification, but I am interested to officially see if Youth players will attract the transfer penalty. Also, we should remember that the 8 points is only if they played more than 5 games (Remington will, he played 14 games).

If the 'ELITE' Jets have let players 'GO' because they are not in their plans or they do not see the potential in that player anymore then under the NPL's mantra that player returning to a club could be taking up the spot of another up an coming talent. The Jets should be treated just like any other club... if said player returned to the Jets because the Jets changed coaches that renewed their interest in that player then they should not be penalised under the points system, but a player that has played for the Jets through all levels of their development that is then discarded should be penalised for switching clubs. You can not have rules for one and ignore for the other. Kale's example is spot on, he came through Magic ranks, only Magic should be benefit for that development investment.
When players leave the elite pathway, its highly unlikely that the player will ever again participate in some type of national/interstate representation that all this NPL, U22's etc has been developed for. Its sad but, you had your chance, but we cant hold the door open anymore. its the same for any state league player from now on that... is over 25... may not get on with a new coach of a club... may move for from their original home/club for work and desire to change clubs for convenience. NPL= We don't care for these people.
A lot of these kids coming out of the jets will not have played for a club since U9's. Most will have joined their respective Assoc rep team and moved directly to the NNSWIS and jets program's.

Was at the awards night last night, and i cannot understand how Charlestown got club of the year. This has got to be a major fk up right? Who made this decision, on what criteria, and who was the oversight on it? There needs to be a sacking for this. Surely Jaffas, Magic, or Edgeworth, deserved this award? BUT Charlestown??? I mean they didnt make the top six, got more cards that most of the top 6 teams, have surely not been voted up by the refs, have done nothing to their ground or facility, have not shown any major youth progress... This has me stumped. Sure heads must roll. What an embarrassment for Northern to be making such blunders such as this.

Doesn't champion club work off the results of all grades 17, 19, 23 and firsts. Not sure of the weighting for each grade though.
No, looking at ladders that don't work.

Not Club Championship, they won Club of the Year, thats right, Club of the Year. What the fk is the criteria to win Club of the Year? Surely it would be one of the top six at least... Edgy won Club Championship...
I was told today that "club of the year" was the team with the least amount of yellow cards.
Aka the fair play award, I guess. Odd

Not entirely sure of the criteria but might want to check your facts on who made the top 6 first of all, secondly how can you possibly know they got more cards than the top 6? That's a really big call to make. Just a though but maybe there was off field criteria which you have no idea about, things such as junior development etc.
Maybe someone a little more clued up and with some more sense could fill us in on the full criteria

Ok they were in the top six equal points with Southy, but didnt make the top five, ie the finals series. Cards = educated guess... take that as you will. Junior development you got to be kidding right? Agree lets see the criteria.

WOW... Hard to believe that the Jaffas can keep this points under the allotted criteria, not a criticism but with so many players coming their way i just thought it was not possible, good luck to them though, and assuming most of the Jaffas team have not come through the ranks, you have to assume that you can still put a team together? Taking Jobe for example one must assume that he enters the team as a marquee player but in reality he has finished his a-league career, did not progress to the jets directly from his junior club, but attracts no penalty because of his marquee status? Does his age count on his weighting? How many seasons will the marquee player status be upheld? How many marquee players can you have? Seeing this table leaves me more confused. Will these club rankings and individual player points be made public, or will this be a typically kept private matter for Northern eyes only?

That means Adamstown will come 2nd, as Jaffas were tipped to come last and ended up second.
But the Jaffas had the Coach of the Year Tanchevski... The question is will Jaffas comes first...

The clubs will be able to scrutinise each others points tally and raise objections with the federation at that stage. Word I heard was that the Federation would only look if an objection was raised.

I still think there will be some very creative management of this points system. 15 first graders, 5 "promoted" under 19s. Change the 15 first graders as necessary.
I don't see many clubs putting forward their BEST 20 players.....Will soon see when the rules regarding this come out, i hope.

I am sure there will be some creative work done to start with. As clubs embrace the new model and in time they will not need to try and circumvent it as they will be well within the parameters of it anyway.
The clubs that attempt to circumvent the system with some creative accounting need to be sorted out. They are obviously not working at making their clubs the best they can be and are taking shortcuts. The people running these clubs need punting as they are not looking after footballs best interests

THE GALLAGHER SHIELD
Wallsend Fc vs South Cardiff Fc
Wallsend will play South Cardiff in the very first Gallagher Shield. The Gallagher shield is in honour of Peter Gallagher who passed away from brain cancer just last year. Pete played for both of these great clubs and was a special player and person.
We are hoping to make this a yearly event between these two sides. The day will be held at the Gardens in Wallsend on February 2 and next year at South Cardiff, all three grades will play: 3rd grade, reserves and first grade. There will be a points system in place to determine which club wins the Shield, for example: If wallsend win in reserve grade they get 5 pts, if first grade win they get 7 pts etc. Which ever club ends up with the most points will win the Gallagher Shield and will get to keep that shield at their club for the year as well as bragging rights!
Each year we would like to dedicate this day to someone in need. Katie Vullo lost her husband just 8 weeks ago to a brain tumor. He had only just graduated with first class honours at Newcastle University as a lawyer & they were moving to Sydney for a job when he was diagnosed in November 2012 with a grade 4 GBM. The highest grade and most aggressive brain tumor. He passed away at the age of just 30. Katie is also 34 weeks preganant with their first child.
So on the day we are looking to raise some money for her and her child. The day is all about helping someone in need and I’m sure we can pack out the stadium and show our support!
For entry, there will be a gold coin donation. Also on the day there will be a BBQ, raffles, canteen, bar, entertainment and of course, some competitive football.
It would be great to see everyone wearing red & white on the day. After the games are finished, the club boxes at the top of the stadium will be opened for everyone to enjoy some drinks and share some stories! It would be great to get as many old boys from both clubs to make it a special day. Red and white is the colour of the day. So if you have nothing on that day, feel free to come down and have a watch. Cheers
