Well well well, I am surprised at those results. Kurri res grade obviously improved greatly throughout the year but RAAF were clearly the strongest team in res (in my eyes) all year. To get both teams through to GF is a great effort.
Cookers 1st grade seemed to stall in the back end of the season, I would have had them v Simba in 1st grade GF at the 1/2 way point of the year.
Should make for 2 interesting GF's due to the different playing styles of kurri v samba and cookers v kurri. Good luck to all.

Cookers 1sts struggled with numbers the whole back half of the year, so we were happy we ended up limping into 2nd. If Simba are on they will be wry hard to beat, but should be a good game anyhow. I thought RAAF would have toppled Kurri but they got done in both games so they were obviously the better team.

First grade grand final should be a good game. Simba will be hard to beat if they are on.
No suprise that kurri are in the final. They appear to play with more commitment and spirit then all the rest in this competition. Kurri may look to try dominate simba physically, they will battle hard for every play.

Cooks hill should win reserves. Good effort from kurri to make the final. They appeared to look much improved and sharper in game 3 against us( going of the 30 mins I seen).

Anyway best of luck to all involved. Would have come watch, but being on fathers day, no chance.

+1. I generally think Newcastle football do a pretty good job, but I am very surprised there was not 1 or 2 back up grounds locked away with all the rain we've been having. Shouldn't be having to scramble around grand final morning looking for a kick. Mad Monday plans in disarray! I should be on the piss now after a hard fought game!

Just cause there is no surface water doesn't mean the ground is playable. We had a shit load of rain here last night and the day before. And as always has been the case at tenambit we put player safety first. The decision was made that it was unplayable at a reasonable time to find an alternative ground.
If we had played and u or someone else had broken a leg because of the unplayable conditions u would be on here whinging and saying y didn't we call it off. So my club made the right choice. So how bout taking Ur frustrations out on the people who should have had a back up ground on standby in case of this situation instead of at a club who at the end of the day made the correct decision.

In my opinion we should be doing away with grandfinals and finals all together. I know I stand in the minority on this topic but have always believed the team at the top at seasons end are the best team and shouldn't then have to win a gf to prove that. More teams in each league extend the season a tad longer, would save all the bullshit that comes about with finals and the ifs and buts when wet weather plays it's part in the finals.

Hey sharky, I do take ur point on the safety of players but one does sometimes wander about decisions as u guys have probably the most precious ground going. We know u get hit hard with fines if u proceed and damage the pitch, having said that I can't see how anyone actually expected to get a gig yesterday, It f@#ing pissed down all week! The games should now be next Sat, no ifs or butts!
And yes.......u are in the minority. I know finals in football globally are not the norm but in Aus it is a custom we all love (most of us). How about also, the spare weekends, if it is fine the comp moves forward a week (so 2 weeks this year). To bad so sad for those who are away etc. it is football season, playing takes priority.
Hopefully common sense prevails and the GF is next Sat.

Cooks hill have 2 teams in ZPL Gf next week and even taking that into account there is no way we want ZL3 to play anytime other than Saturday. No one is going to toss up watching ZPL or ZL3..if you are following a team you watch that game, and that's that. Surely Newcastle football can have 1 person at the ZL3 GF. I'd week grand final is a horrible idea and we won't be up for it at all.

Fck I wish they had just given us all another hour to look for another ground so we didn't have this shite to deal with.

Grand finals dont get washed out.

In saying that its ridiculas that if correct Tenambit fc have to pay Maitland Council for any demage to ground. That puts Tenambit in a no win situation. Ridiculas council rules that need to be lifted unless ground is a swamp. Otherwise other venues may have to be looked at.

No worries guys, our words to Russell Henry were the same this week as last week. Games will be played regardless, only called off if Match Officials decide to do so.

Not 100% sure of kick off times at moment, Zone Assoc were looking at bringing forward to allow people to get to see ZPL Finals I believe.

If weather looks like rain though and your a player, just perhaps park outside the ground so families etc can get cars into ground to watch you. We have covered seating on far side but due to the recent rain, for those that know the ground, we can't let cars past the scoreboard at the far end. Grounds being rolled again today to get rid of the bumps.divots from Sundays games so should be a good surface again for this Sat.

GF UPDATE
Res 1-0 win to cookshill

First start of second half 2-1 Kurri

Kurri win 3-1 all players remained on the pitch, some by shear luck that the ref didn't want to show a red. #8 and captain for Simba was fairly keen to wait for the refs back to be turned then put a few cheap shots on some of the Kurri blokes. And I thought Kurri where ment to be the grubs. Kurri keeper was outstanding making plenty of crucial saves. Simba took the early lead and Kurri did well to come back and control large parts. Simba had their chances to get back into the game but where wasteful in front of goal.

Congradulations to kurri. Well done to simba for minor premiership and promotion.

Didnt see the game, would have went to watch it if kickoff stayed at normal times. Stupid decison, All grand finals should be given their own standing.

I was suprised about lack of punishment in general by referees this year for challenges. Our club had only 1 suspension all year, suprising. All age referees much more harsh on dangerous challenges. Seen a couple of dangerous challenges that were obviouslly challenges to delibrately injure players,Not good.
So it doesnt suprise me to here that some challenges were left unpunished.

Looking at it, Kurri have the ideal setup to push their club forward.

More clubs in id's the better. Especially given that three teams have left id's for the new fm league. If they slide everyone up to fill the gaps, new teams will be required to make up the difference. More teams also helps us to avoid the spoon.

Go play at Kurri. Bellbird and Weston Swifts have folded due to numbers this season, if anything it will only weaken the area. Abermain have no junior teams so what you'd base the team off a o/35s team and all age team? Really clever idea!

BP Super Dynamos
17-10-2014, 07:20 AM
I don't see any problem with Abermain joining ZL3 despite them having a small junior base, Hunter Simba have done fine without one. The Weston Swifts managed to kick around for 10 years also. Presently, Kurri are the only ZL club in the Cessnock, Branxton and Kurri Kurri areas. There are numerous all age sides throughout these areas and not everyone who wants to play ZL would play for Kurri. There is definite potential for Abermain to attract players. Even if Abermain do base their squad around current sides in O/35's and A/Age, who really cares? They obviously want to play "real" football (45 minute halves, substitution etc.) instead of A/Age, so let them. It doesn't matter if they pull out of the competition in 1,2,3 even 10 years time, if at all. As long as they can field 2 sides, let them play.

anfield
17-10-2014, 12:29 PM
I agree, pay their money and field two teams and they are in. Like mentioned before, 3 clubs have left zone leagues for new fm leagues. So basically new clubs are needed.

At the end of the day clubs have to
crawl before they can walk. I would applaud Abermain if they give it a crack.

Incorrect. Reddevil obviously plays for a separate club (from previous posts, im guessing mayfield) and is making false statements that he has no idea about. I'm guessing again, but probably because he is someone who is threatened in the face of any competition, and is now scared a potentially good team has been included on the bill.

The only reason I could think that we at tenambit went up ahead of the RAAF is the Raaf facilities not being up to scratch for the competition. Or its a typo or the Raaf said no to promotion due to not knowing who will be in the team next year.

Saying that my info is RAAF were as keen as anyone to go up, at the 1/2 way point of the season they were looking good for self deserved promotion. No definitely not over 35's I'm only 27 but feel as tho I should be playing that age group. U may have played my missus old boy he was the loud pommy central mid.

Interesting competition for season 2015.

Raaf
Mayfield
Dudley
Wallsend
Kahibah
Valentine
Abermain
New lambton jnrs
Jesnond jnr
Edgeworth

Suprised tenambit went to zl2 in front of Raaf.
Im tipping Raaf, Wallsend and Mayfield will all be around top 4.

Any inside word on who will be strong next season?

Any inside word on who will be strong next season?

Indications are Wallsend will be strong but looking at that comp I think it will be very tough and very even all round. Abermain could attract anyone who does not want to play for Kurri or who is forced out of Kurri due to their promotion. Kahibah will have overflow from higher grades as will Valentine. Mayfield improved dramatically this year as the season progressed and Edgie are always competitive.
Anyone's comp for the taking.
