joel's been a naughty boy
Does anyone actually consider HE may want to deal with his anger issues and the club is helping him with that?
Was there a time in the past he came out and recognized his attitude problems, may have been during the whole Socceroos blowup?
I'm all for having a player show passion for the club but that doesn't mean you go off acting like a dickhead blowing up at the ref.
Just leave the shit cheating ref to your captain, everyone knows this. The only way you're going to influence a ref during a match by blowing up at them is ENCOURAGING THEM TO BIAS AGAINST YOUR TEAM.
We all know this from playing on weekends, it doesn't change from grass roots to professional football.
I love griff, love his fire etc but it needs to channelled. Get stuck in, harry defenders, get rough in corners etc but be ****ing smart about it FFS.
This blind faith shit gets old on here.
griffology claims another casualty
RIP russjaybee
blind faith?
is there any other kind?
Nah Middleby just tried to belittle him by making the statements regarding counseling.
**** Middleby.
Hail Griff.
I'm so conflicted. The sack wack is one of the greatest feats in modern football and it goes against everything I said up there.
He doesn't need to not have a quote to look stupid.
If Griff feels he has anger issues and wishes to seek some help to deal with them then fine I see no problem with that.
What I do take offence to is the club publicly humiliating the player ie our ****ING HERO by saying they are making him do these things and then making him pay for it.
The way this thing is being handled by the club is amateur hour at its best.
Really couldn't give two shits either if the club had of ordered Griff they wanted him to undergo counselling. Couldn't give two shits if they made him pay for it.
I do have a big issue that they have embarrassed themselves Griff and our fans by the way they have cut Griff loose on this.
Embarrassed for firing up at the ref when every person in the stadium was doing the same thing? Yeah, really embarrassing Joel
Militiamon that's a cop out mate. Do you really expect or want your players to act like the fans on the pitch? Want the players to chant "Bullshit... Bullshit..." at the ref? (ps I miss those chants).
Edit: I wouldn't have as much of an issue with this if it wasn't for the fact we're fighting for survival this year and NEED JOEL BADLY, not to mention the club invested in getting him here then he blows up and instantly costs the club 2 games without him.
I hope he takes the time off to get sharp, hungry but also settled. The rage needs to be channelled.
Just for the record: anyone who is genuinely defending griff here and not just taking the piss should have a good look at themselves.
Stupidity of the highest order from a guy who we really need to be playing if we are going to make the finals. He's let himself, the team and the fans down.
But listen to the dickheads go on about it on the Herald comments.
He made a mistake and got carded for it. He's human. He doesn't deserve the vitriol being directed at him.
In reality he is probably only going to miss 60 minutes of football that he would be used as a sub while building his match fitness. He just has to do it on the training park now. So why is everyone whinging about how much he is hurting the club? The truth is that our other strikers have been letting us down for most of the season. But Joel is our Messiah so he can bear the disappointment that should be directed at Heskey, Taggart, Burns and Brown.
Truth is more likely that they are filled with hate and just love spewing hate out their mouths.
For me, it just adds to the drama and entertainment and this year has been so lacking in entertainment.
I'm not saying whether it was right or wrong, I was more making the point that to say he 'publicly embarrassed' himself is ridiculous.
Why the hell would I want to read any Herald comments lOL? Maybe if you're a masochist.
I don't really see much vitriol towards him around here?
In fact the only reason I piped up about this is because so many people were even going to the point of saying what he did was a good thing.
He was a dickhead and got himself banned for 2 games in his first few minutes of football. Let's move on and focus on the players we actually have available for the coming match.
I agree the club probably should have just dealt with this behind closed doors, no need to publicly come out and air the laundry. If they were queried about it they could have just said they were dealing with it internally and would prefer not to speak about players personal affairs in public. We don't need to know if he's getting counselling or any shit like that.
billy and goodwinfan, theherald's king cawksuckers
The short memories of some of you.
Where was all this talk of embarrassment and counseling when Kew got sent earlier in the season? Seem to recall that was over sfa compared to this.
How did he publically embarrass himself last weekend??
He got sent off for saying a little too much to the ref. He ain't the first and won't be the last to suffer a similar fate
Watch the footage. Griffos efforts are nowhere within the top 80% of players who have suffered a similar fate.
What really is the biggest issue here is the lack of support from his teammates. WHERE THE FARK WERE THEY???
If they had any of the passion the Griffo has they would have been over chatting to Ben Williams well before Griff EVEN got there and taking a yellow or two for the cause.
Those blokes just left Griffo high and dry and now the club have cut him loose.
I also assume any Jets player who now gets sent off for dissent will be under going councilling at their own expense and will also be publically hung out to dry by the club
DIS GRACE
The Member restores some sanity to this thread.
Where's sanchez to do his weekly foz posting?
That was a legit harsh call and not a display of blatant immaturity and bad-sportsmanship or "passion" as it is referred to on this forum.
How did they embarrass him? It seems to me like the club was trying to show the fans, most of which feel let down by what happened, that griff is doing something to rectify his actions and is clearly remorseful.
Of course I tend to read things as they are and don't sift through articles trying to find something to twist into my next crappy joke about middleby, as some members are prone to do.
....
G'day Robbie.
I'm sorry griff but one must be able to question thy god at times.
Yeah, that Thomas477 really sticks it to you.........I mean Middleby doesn't he.
Anyway, good for you that you have super reading powers that us mere mortals don't have. With your ability to sort out the 'spin' from 'fact' puts you in good stead to host your own show on Fox News one day. (You are a hot blonde chick aren't you?).
Now for the main issue:
I felt that a players brain snap (be it an outburst, a bad tackle etc) shouldn't be treated by the club publicly especially to please a certain section of the usual tin hat brigade.
(You said 'most' fans feel let down yet you have no real idea if it's true or not, you're just guessing).
Every time Middleby is asked a question on player contracts etc we get the standard "we don't comment on players etc etc etc" (which I agree with) but when it's time for JUSTICE he is more than happy to tell the world a players business.
I don't like that approach.
That's all.
I hope your super reading powers manage to cut through all the chaff and get to my wheat.
Thanks for the chat.
Plague.
Oh, and Middleby out.
Firstly your argument has kinda collapsed upon itself considering I said that I just take the articles at face value and don't try to find hidden meanings etc. So good work there.
Secondly yeah that was a guess but an educated one seeing as we are pretty much the only jets fans that exist who are so devoted to this guy and even some of us are on his back.
Thirdly that's a totally different situation and once again I'm fairly confident that airing that news was not an attempt to embarrass griff.
Thanks,
Parkesy.
