I seen there first game against Terrace and there didn't seem to be any big difference should be a cracker of a game this weekend
Round 4 just out... NBN- Magic Vs Phoenix... Edgeworth Bye
Easy win for the magic
Anyone going to watch the hayne plane tonight
Magic team is mostly U23's. Valo looked better for the first 20 minutes, missed a sitter after 5.
Full Time- Broadmeadow Magic 0- Valentine 1
dudley wallsend 2 - 2 and like 100-99 on penalties with dudley winning.
swansea uni - swansea win 2-1
What a joke,
Watched Magic 23's (3 first team regulars) vs phoenix (full strength 1st grade)
I wished i never wasted my time going to blacksmiths to watch crap like what i saw lastnight..
big credit to Pheonix for taking this comp seriously and having a go.
MAGIC either your to big for the sport, or you truly believed that your 23,s would do the job for ya. WRONG
The poor kids looked lost out there last night...
WHY enter the comp,
they're actually forced to enter it, unless i'm mistaken.
maybe it was part of magic's bargaining efforts to entice/keep their 23s players that they'd be given a go in the state cup. clubs can do what they want. if their 23s can hold a full-strength first grade side to 1 goal, that's not a bad effort imo. those 23s will be better off for the experience - much better off than not playing, letting their first grade play, and boozing for a weekend in coffs.
it's all about priorities innit. wigan win the fa cup, yet get relegated from the epl, because manure/arsenal/etc are playing their youth/reserves in those cup competitions - not only to preserve their players, but to give their lower players a run.
like i said - magic probably promised a large part of their 23s players a run in the state cup in a way to entice them to the club, or keep them from signing for another club. imo this is only making their 23s players stronger, and thus making the overall competition stronger.
I've tried to stay out of your rants but enough is enough. Why should Magic take the cup serious when the Fed don't? Why risk your first graders when your in the box seat to win the premiership? If you ask me it's a huge risk for a huge club like Magic who have something to loose and nothing to gain out of it but on the other hand clubs like VPFC, Lakes and Southy who are looking at a nothing season have to play their main squad as it's the only chance to win silverware.
