Ange (and all international coaches) get bugger all time with their squad to implement their system. McKay is so adaptable to everything, and knows Ange's philosophy backwards.
No, he won't provide the X-factor of Luongo. No, he won't score like Cahill. But he does his job, which is exactly why he is the perfect option for Ange.
We can't play a lone holding mid unless we have Jedinak. When Jedi is out, we don't have the quality to replace him with one man so need to go to 2. This works perfectly with Milligan/McKay because Milligan does the yards defensively, and McKay follows the ball around like a puppy dog and will rarely if ever turn over possession. And that's good, because we have some highly active, mobile players in Leckie, Troisi, Luongo, Kruse, Oar that we move the ball around, and switch it, a lot. And we're lucky to have someone of McKay's engine-room to be the outlet for those players.
