Seriously, if the club goes through with having our home game vs Citeh played up at Coffs, McKinna needs to go, simple.
yeah, ****, imagine making a commitment and sticking to it! don't want that shit in our club.
Question was already asked and answered, the game at Coffs can't be changed. And it was organised long before McKinna rocked up anyway.
pffft, timmy who. Just another big head. Our boys will nut him
Probs better not to lose at home anyway
Yes, the deal was done well before McKinna came into the role as CEO. Eland would have been heavily involved in the decision.
Anyway as Lawrie has stated it can't be changed now.
As we are on this topic of Timmy playing for City, late this arvo at work a work-mate who doesn't go to games but has a "passing interest" in the Jets was saying how good it is to have Cahill in the A-League and that he would go and watch when City are playing up here , there was a bit of an awkward pause, then I replied and gave him the news that the Jets only home game for City this season will actually be played in Coffs Harbour! The look on his face was one of disbelief. Daresay, if this game was played at Hunter Stadium it would have got 25,000 plus. The potential of bringing in new people to come watch an A-League game (like my work-mate) would be massive.
Anyway good luck to Coffs and the Mid-North coast but seeing this was also mentioned on NBN news tonight I just have a gut feeling that we have definitely not heard the last of this.
Maybe we can just blame Miller for not preparing for another club signing someone like Timmy
the hell you getting a crowd of 25,000 from?
They only got just under 22k for the Socceroos game, and that was against an opponent way better than the Jets.
or do you have like, a LOT of workmates?
The Socceroos game was capped at 22,000 odd because Asian Cup regulations did not allocate seating that was uncovered, hence the northern and southern ends were not for sale. The game was technically a sell-out and I know quite a few people who wanted to go but couldn't get tickets.
Throught you would've known this plaguey as it was well documented at the time in the media!
Anyway, Kewell when he returned to the A-League for Victory a few years back helped attract a crowd of over 18,000 at Hunter Stadium. Cahill in recent years has surpassed Kewell in terms of profile and popularity, 25,000 would in my opinion not have been too far-fetched a crowd figure had this game had been played at Hunter Stadium, but it's hypothetical now.
its ok Coffs in its reduced capacity might get a 12k sell out then you'll be happy.
as for your friends who wanted to go geez they must be lazy buggers because tickets were on sale on the day of the game.
anyway, i agree we should cater the whole season around blokes who may or may not feel like heading down for a look depending on an opposition player because that seems a way easier way to boost the crowd figures than actually having a decent team that plays good football. we have only gotten near 25k during finals or when the Wanderers made up 3/4 of the crowd.
oh and the 'official' crowd for Kewels return was 17,245 (not 'over' 18,000). Lucky you can't get the sack for having shitty stats unlike your boy Milos huh?
Why always get personal?
Maybe tickets for the Socceroos v UAE were available on game day as you say, I'm just going by some people I know saying they were unable to get tickets online for the semi.
I'm over the Milos thing, looks like you still want to keep this pathetic little argument going, get a life bud!
I'm with Stopper - the AFC crowd by all accounts would have made the 30,000 mark had the hills been officially open - ticket sales online sold out quickly and the large interstate and Sydney contingent couldn't get here.
As for Coff's we've been expecting this a while. I doubt there will now be a switch as if there was Coff's will then go on about the FFA and tell them to stick their league.
The issue now is the stadium - it's sort of a long weekend, the ground has one small grandstand and apparently a capacity of 20,000 (though if you look at pics of it you wonder how). Alot of locals will attend and many will come down from the north coast too. A fair few Newcastle people will make a weekend of it and there is member admission.
What if the thing sells out and members who travel up on the day can't get in? We already have Gold and Platinum members banished to the grass. If both sides are doing well and Timmymania has been ramped up it good get ugly. And if there is a summer storm....

Cahill has a two year deal. We will see him twice next year.
where was this outrage when we missed seeing Cameron Watson play against us in 2012 when we played the reds in Bathurst?
Hills not open....just another excuse on why crowd did not turn up. its a moot point now, but I attended all the Asian cup games in newcastle and bought my tickets at the gate on the day/night.
As for work mates that were going to attend but didn't... I have been hearing excuses like that for years. Gees way back in the Breakers day when they played on a Friday night, the biggest excuse for not going to the game was it looked like it was going to rain. That has been replaced now by if so and so was playing, if they were winning..etc
Excuse?Quote:

The game was officially a sellout (this was the only sellout of the Hunter games)....there were some tix available on the day because alot of Japanese had fully expected being there and returned them.Quote:
In accordance with FIFA World Cup regulations, the AFC have prevented the local organising committee from selling tickets to the two non-seated hills behind the goals at Hunter Stadium, which reduces the capacity of the venue from 33,000 to approximately 23,000.

That may be true but an official sell out does not mean that people attend.. Just look at ANZ when they say the game is a sell out but there are empty seats as you look around the stadium.
In the Herald
"Gallop was adamant Cahill stood above signings like Alessandro Del Pierro, David Villa, Robbie Fowler and Harry Kewell"...:roflz:

The irony here being that Darren Cahill retired from tennis due to chronic knee problems and ten or so operations to fix them.
Ticks every box for a Jets signing.
Yeah but these are the same people you expect to turn up as part of your 25k except they won't because they were never actually coming.
Accept it. Jets crowds are lame and won't get better til the team deserves them.
I'm over the Milos thing too, I'm just revelling in your assist argument being outed for its lameness.
Long live assists.
Long live lame arguments.
Although did you see Messi's bicycle assist the other day?
Phwooaaarrrr.
It's a shame really, but the three times we could have got a 25-30,000 crowd (2008 semi final, Beckham match, AFC semi), we were impacted by reduced capacity.
we should play all our games at Homebush so we never have this problem.

FFA to start talks with Ronaldinho as Milos Ninkovic wants out of Sydney FC
A day after announcing Melbourne City's signing of Tim Cahill, Football Federation Australia is ramping up its pursuit of Ronaldinho and Diego Forlan with negotiations set to take place as early as next week.
The brother and agent of Brazilian star Ronaldinho will land in Sydney on Monday for scheduled talks with the FFA over a possible move to the A-League.
While discussions are yet to include A-League clubs, the 10 members have been put on notice about the availability of the 36-year-old as a guest player. Under the new regulations, a guest player paid outside of the salary cap can be registered for the entire season, however those adjustments may still not be sufficient enough to sway some potential suitors in the A-League.
As part of the marquee fund allocated to star signings, the FFA is taking a more active role in negotiations for major recruits and is understood to be involved in talks for Uruguayan striker Forlan to Brisbane Roar.
The FFA is eager to make Ronaldinho another high-profile guest player for the coming season but is likely to face a hard sell to the clubs who will pick up the bulk of the player's wage bill.
Sources at Western Sydney ruled out a potential move for the two-time world player of the year and will likely not pursue a move for any guest player this season. Fairfax Media understands the club remains in the market for a foreign marquee player though that is unlikely to be a high-profile star.
Sydney FC are more willing to sign Ronaldinho as a guest player though any potential move will first have to receive the blessing of the club's football department and coach Graham Arnold. Senior club officials informed Fairfax Media they have no plans for a guest player but they will make the funds available if they are convinced of the investment, marketing impact but most importantly, the benefit to the football department.
The new approach is a stark contrast to the Sky Blues' strategies of the past where they have been willing to sign several short-term guest players such as Kazu Miura, Benito Carbone and Lucas Neill. While the club is yet to be convinced of making a move for the veteran attacking midfielder, Sydney could soon find themselves in the search for a new creative player after Serbian international Milos Ninkovic rocked the club with a request for a release this week.
The 31-year-old midfielder is understood to have approached the club requesting the final year of his contract be mutually terminated to pursue a move with an unnamed club from the Middle East. Fairfax Media understands Sydney FC were angered by negotiations taking place without their knowledge for a lucrative deal understood to be worth almost $2.5 million per season.
Chief executive Tony Pignata ruled out releasing Ninkovic before the end of his contract and says the club has not received any offer from the Middle Eastern club. "We've had no offer or correspondence from any club. He's a contracted player and he has a year to go on his current deal. He remains a part of Graham Arnold's plans for the season and he's not being released," Pignata said.
Forlan signed with some IPL side yesterday.
Why aren't you in politics plague?
Have to hand it to you, you are good at manipulating and twisting around someone elses opinion so that in the end the whole issue is clouded and the argument is about a totally different one from the original one discussed in the first place.
P.S. you don't have to reply, just accept a "compliment" when I give you one!
