Seriously, if the club goes through with having our home game vs Citeh played up at Coffs, McKinna needs to go, simple.

Question was already asked and answered, the game at Coffs can't be changed. And it was organised long before McKinna rocked up anyway.

Yes, the deal was done well before McKinna came into the role as CEO. Eland would have been heavily involved in the decision.
Anyway as Lawrie has stated it can't be changed now.

As we are on this topic of Timmy playing for City, late this arvo at work a work-mate who doesn't go to games but has a "passing interest" in the Jets was saying how good it is to have Cahill in the A-League and that he would go and watch when City are playing up here , there was a bit of an awkward pause, then I replied and gave him the news that the Jets only home game for City this season will actually be played in Coffs Harbour! The look on his face was one of disbelief. Daresay, if this game was played at Hunter Stadium it would have got 25,000 plus. The potential of bringing in new people to come watch an A-League game (like my work-mate) would be massive.
Anyway good luck to Coffs and the Mid-North coast but seeing this was also mentioned on NBN news tonight I just have a gut feeling that we have definitely not heard the last of this.

Maybe we can just blame Miller for not preparing for another club signing someone like Timmy

the hell you getting a crowd of 25,000 from?

They only got just under 22k for the Socceroos game, and that was against an opponent way better than the Jets.

or do you have like, a LOT of workmates?

We will worry about that in January.

The bloke has to get some wins on the board to not be at Centrelink by then anyway

The Socceroos game was capped at 22,000 odd because Asian Cup regulations did not allocate seating that was uncovered, hence the northern and southern ends were not for sale. The game was technically a sell-out and I know quite a few people who wanted to go but couldn't get tickets.
Throught you would've known this plaguey as it was well documented at the time in the media!

Anyway, Kewell when he returned to the A-League for Victory a few years back helped attract a crowd of over 18,000 at Hunter Stadium. Cahill in recent years has surpassed Kewell in terms of profile and popularity, 25,000 would in my opinion not have been too far-fetched a crowd figure had this game had been played at Hunter Stadium, but it's hypothetical now.

its ok Coffs in its reduced capacity might get a 12k sell out then you'll be happy.

as for your friends who wanted to go geez they must be lazy buggers because tickets were on sale on the day of the game.

anyway, i agree we should cater the whole season around blokes who may or may not feel like heading down for a look depending on an opposition player because that seems a way easier way to boost the crowd figures than actually having a decent team that plays good football. we have only gotten near 25k during finals or when the Wanderers made up 3/4 of the crowd.

oh and the 'official' crowd for Kewels return was 17,245 (not 'over' 18,000). Lucky you can't get the sack for having shitty stats unlike your boy Milos huh?

    Why always get personal?
Maybe tickets for the Socceroos v UAE were available on game day as you say, I'm just going by some people I know saying they were unable to get tickets online for the semi.
I'm over the Milos thing, looks like you still want to keep this pathetic little argument going, get a life bud!

I'm with Stopper - the AFC crowd by all accounts would have made the 30,000 mark had the hills been officially open - ticket sales online sold out quickly and the large interstate and Sydney contingent couldn't get here.

As for Coff's we've been expecting this a while. I doubt there will now be a switch as if there was Coff's will then go on about the FFA and tell them to stick their league.

The issue now is the stadium - it's sort of a long weekend, the ground has one small grandstand and apparently a capacity of 20,000 (though if you look at pics of it you wonder how). Alot of locals will attend and many will come down from the north coast too. A fair few Newcastle people will make a weekend of it and there is member admission.

What if the thing sells out and members who travel up on the day can't get in? We already have Gold and Platinum members banished to the grass. If both sides are doing well and Timmymania has been ramped up it good get ugly. And if there is a summer storm....

Hills not open....just another excuse on why crowd did not turn up. its a moot point now, but I attended all the Asian cup games in newcastle and bought my tickets at the gate on the day/night.
As for work mates that were going to attend but didn't... I have been hearing excuses like that for years. Gees way back in the Breakers day when they played on a Friday night, the biggest excuse for not going to the game was it looked like it was going to rain. That has been replaced now by if so and so was playing, if they were winning..etc
