So the grounds were unplayable were they? Funny how every other match went ahead today despite the other clubs not being able to control the weather either.

Croatia 1-0 over Kotara in a very tight match. Both teams hit the post or bar several times.
Deflected shot left Kotara GK with no chance and that goal was the difference between the teams
A draw would have been a fair reflection of the match imho, but yeah good teams find a way to win and they have proven their quality a few times now.
LMRFF really isn?t designed with spectators in mind. I can?t think of a worse ground in the comp to watch a game.
With Daniel McBreen signing for top of the table team Croudace Bay Crabs (ZL2), they are surely getting promoted next season.
I?ve watched them play and imo they are better than 2/3 of ZL1 comp. Clubs like Olympic, Cardiff, etc. won?t want them in the comp as they will definitely force them out of the top half of the table towards a relegation scrap.
I believe the Crabs will be the next Azzurri. The club hasnt enough community support or longevity to create substantial backing over the long term.
They might stay in ZL1 for a few years at best for mine. They do have the future to turn this prediction around!!
This is why they need to go 2 up 2 down for next 3 years to sort it out quicker.
Norths, Southern, Bolwarra and Cooks would comfortably beat Westlakes, Azzuri, Stockton and Warner's Bay.
For the next 3 years we are going to see promoted teams from ZL2 make ZL1 finals first year up.
Stockton going up last year was an outlier, I think everyone knew they were not ready.
I think to lump Warners Bay with Westlakes, Stocko and Azzurri is tough school.
I think Crabs and Croatia are in the same boat that as new clubs they are having excellent success but can they survive the long term.
The issues I could see would be both have excellent playing rosters but what happens when the rosters start to turn over. With no juniors it can make that harder than a club with juniors.
Croatia also need a home venue. Bero isn?t sustainable.
Both these clubs being successful is great for the comp as they add another strong club higher up and makes for more competitive games.
We saw putting up 2 teams doesn?t work. Stockton have struggled, Minmi and Westlakes came up as a 2 and that hasn?t been a huge success.

Well said Hacker,
Everyone in ZL2 knew that all of Stockton's NPL players would jump ship if they were promoted. They all were just glory hunters and viruses for Stockton. Stockton have done very well to essentially rebuild from scratch and hopefully avoid relegation. Stockton's biggest strength as a club is their passion and community commitment that will keep them in ZL1/ZL2 for a long time.
Be realistic, only Norths and Crabs would be battling mid-table onwards. Southern, Bolwarra and Cookers would be in and around that relegation battle. The gap between ZL1 and ZL2 has seemed to lose a lot of merit over the last couple of years.

Who and where did these so called NPL players go to ? The only one i know that is still playing is Tom Smart who went to adamstown
Your whole post is nonsense but in particular what a terrible take on Warners Bay. Consistency has been a bit of a problem but aside from a tough mid week match against Croatia I dont think there have been too many losses where the guys werent in a tight contest and the opposition could say they came away with an easy 3 points.
Thanks and great point regarding south Cardiff.
Speaking of the gunners, I?ve just seen a funny Facebook post from them ? they?re recruiting a director of football? why the f would a ZL1 team need a director of football?
Very interested to see how Cardiff go against them next year.
Can anyone tell me the prize money for winning zl1? Still 10k?
These five fellas played for Stocko in 2024 and I believe all have 10+ years of experience playing first grade NPL. All jumped shipped after Stockton got promoted.
Tom Smart
Paul Buxton - Played for magic and a couple other NPL clubs
Chris Berlin - Played for adamstown, magic, and a couple others I think - gun striker
Blake Thompson - 7 ft maitland legend
Jon Griffiths - Played for the likes of jaffas, olympic, magic
Last season they pushed Croatia all the way, more than what the ZL1 teams have this season and definitely one of the biggest 'what ifs' this season.
Stockton have done incredibly well to try and rebuild their first grade from literal scratch after a lot of their other first graders have moved on too. If managed well they'll stay in ZL1 for the next couple of seasons. A lot of work to do if they want to challenge finals though.
Would Suns even want to play the grand final this season and risk being destroyed by the unstoppable behemoth that is Newcastle Croatia…. A 3rd time.. ? Hearing the grand final may end up being Croatia vs another team. Kind of sad as for all Suns dominance in this league they will be remembered as just another zl1 team Croatia put a clinic on in years to come
like i said, you said they all jumped ship and are glory hunters ? .
other then Tom Smart, he went back to NPL
Griffiths , Berlin & Thomspon have retired or cant play, they would still be playing for Stocko if they played
Paul buxton only played youth NPL 15 years ago or more but agree did go to the Suns to play against Stocko for some reason
Tonight
Stockton 1-3 Mayfield
Weekend
Olympic 2-2 Suns
Warners Bay 1-4 Uni
New gk for first grade van something?
