we've got an 18yo (yes I know hes not Newy youth) starting CB. Is that not young enough? and a 19yo at LB. Why the call for more youth? Not saying Fyfe is an awesome option either.

So in the same conversation I've read that we (fans) don't want to promote youth, we do want to promote youth, signing a young bloke from another club was a bad idea and signing Fyfe is a bad idea because he's too old... It's a mid season injury crisis so there wouldn't be many blokes in their primes hanging about with no clubs. So what does the club do? Like it genuinely seems impossible to please.
iain fyfe ffs
He should have played De Godoy before even signing Koutrumbis, but I guess he is his love child. Fyfe is a good signing, there was no one else really available, the only option wold have been to get an injury replacement and the push hard for Spiranovic or Curtis Good in January.
Welcome to life.
You will always have people for or people against.
Me, I would have preferred them to pick up someone from our youth or local NPL. I don't think Fyfe has anything to offer, that some of the locals couldn't. You can say he has experience - he hasn't played in the competition for 2 years. It's completely different and he is 2 years older. He may prove me, and many more wrong, and be a great acquisition but I don't see it.
Jones himself said, he will only be an asset if he can get back to the pace and rigours of the league.
Sums it up perfectly.
Between Jackson, Cowburn, Koutroumbis, Vujica, Duncan, etc, I don't think the club can be accused of not giving youth a decent chance. We need a defender that was willing to come on short notice (McKain wasn't), and someone who knows the A-league, or at least the standard expected of them. If he can provide a steady influence on the rest of the backline for a few weeks, that's all we need. This isn't the time to throw another youngster to the wolves.
The young players getting slaughtered 40mins down the road every game last season certainly don't appear any better for it this season.
And can someone name these NNSW NPL defenders that could immediately slot in and steady the ship for a month?
I've got no concerns playing De Godoy when the time is right. My fear is playing him now, in a back line next to Koutroumbis (3 appearances) and Vujica (6 appearances) doesn't have the required experienced head next to them to guide them through a game.
We all saw what happened to the Mariners when they played with inexperience last year. It was a farce.
Hopefully Kanta can beat the clock and play.
Except the GK wasn't in line because he was necessarily good enough, it was because our stocks were so low he was next by default. Carle is a whole different kettle of fish, not to mention slotting into a team that presented next to zero pressure on his shoulders.
And the fact you've compared a GK with an attacker who can play with freedom and not necessarily cost his team goals.
Taylor Regan must be bashing his head against a wall right now.
Where Tiago at?
Kew still lives locally?
Time to get Lucas Neill out of retirement yet?..
Nah, **** that. Sick of getting old folks in. Poljak had a kid last week, sign him (her?) up. Can't be any worse than what we have.
Couple of alternatives:
Uskok - HAL experience, 25 and just won the NSW NPL with Sydney Utd and made round of 32 in FFA Cup.
Cairncross - HAL experience with Sydney FC, captain of Blacktown, 26, QFs of FFA Cup and successful season in NSW NPL.
Petar Franjic - HAL experience, 24, brother of Ivan, decent player who had a good season in VPL.
Vrankovic - HAL experience, 23, playing for Bonnyrigg - ones of the top clubs in the NSW NPL.
All better options than a 34 year old Iain Fyfe who's been playing NPL for 2 years imo. At that age his body is winding down and will find it much harder to re-adapt than these guys in their mid-20s who have something to prove.
Fyfe to join the injury ward within two weeks.
I like your suggestions. But whats to say these blokes haven't got good paying jobs outside of football? I can't imagine the injury waiver contract being that high? Mayb Fyfe has nothing to fall back on outside of football as he's been around for so many years. Just looking to squeeze out as much cash as he can before retirement.
So, how much exactly would Martin be prepared to fork out and in what position should he invest it? If Martin is open to funding a guest player, who? Personally, I would prefer a Leonardo style attacking player (without the injury cloud of course)... and Ljubo... :D

Plus it would have to mean Jones would want someone else not from Adelaide, which I doubt he does.
Kokko has a fractured jaw..
Letss discuss who we move on in january to get some funds freed up for better players (fingers crossed).
For me: Cooper,Brennan,Pav,Hoole go in january
End of season: Kanta mullen poijak BK (sadly) move on
