I don't see Hoole as a long term option, just as I don't see Carney. I say that because he has overseas ambitions. That's dependent on someone buying him of course. He's a longer term option than Carney however.Quote:

Hoole for Carney then doesn't seem like such a bad swap. Although it does appear, like carney, the agent makes all the executive decisions for the involved player coming in.
Hoole was exciting to watch last year but needs to become a lot more polished in that final third. Needs to know when to dribble and when to hit a first time cross.
Hoole will offer more pace +++, athleticism and in the A-league this makes him a more viable player than carney does at age 32.
Carney is just simply on too much coin from the outside looking in.
Hoole would realistically be here on max 110-120k .. This allows a potential $100k approx more in the centre of the park.

“Sydney are clearly desperate to get hold of David Carney, but he has a contract until the end of the season.
“We have until 11.59pm to come up with a solution.”
The Jets have said they are willing to release Carney but on their terms.
A potential two-for-one player swap has been at the centre of talks.
The Jets have targeted Andrew Hoole and are understood to be willing to increase the Olyroo’s salary as an enticement to return to Newcastle.
The 22-year-old is six months into a two-year deal in Sydney and his management this week ruled out a return to his home club.
As well as the A-League finals, the Sky Blues are about to begin their Asian Champions League campaign.
Striker Chris Naumoff and promising left back Riley Woodcock are other Sydney players reported to be involved in talks.
“When the situation involves potential player swaps, it is really complex,” Eland said. “You are talking about people’s careers.”
If the clubs cannot agree on a player swap, the other option is for the Jets to release Carney and save the balance of his contract, believed to be about $80,000.
Under the A-League Collective Bargaining Agreement, formalised in November, clubs are allowed to stockpile any unused portion of the salary cap and add it to the next season’s spend.
Likewise, if the Jets receive a player or players from Sydney on less money than the Carney, the difference can be banked to spend later.
After a dream start, winning three of the first four games, the Jets’ finals hopes are in tatters.
They sit in ninth place, 10 points behind sixth-placed Adelaide, with 10 games remaining.
Carney has been the Jets’ best player, scoring three goals and playing a hand in several others.
However, the 32-year-old was a shock late omission from the side beaten 1-0 in Adelaide on Sunday, after the coach queried his “commitment”.
The Jets train on Tuesday ahead of the visit by the high-flying Melbourne City on Sunday.
Eland expects Carney at training and said he would be considered for selection while he is contracted to the club.
“Scott has been straight with where things stand with David,” Eland said. “You have to want to play for the Jets and be committed to the Jets. The culture we are trying to build here, that is a must.”
Remainder of Carney's contract is believed to be 80k, with 9(?) games remaining, people saying he's not on good coin are crazy. Works out around 8k per game + bonuses or 218k for the 27 rounds...

I guess the advantage is more cap space next season plus *possible transfer fee if we can sell him in a year. I think he'll have a lot to prove and if he's keen to get out of Newcastle again, he'll be working hard to do so which only helps us.
