Wow. He looked like a newborn giraffe on his run but somehow leckie put it in.great counter-attacking goal.

Denmark look completely different in the second half.

There's quite a few players (and a coach) that I've had to reconsider my opinions of in this world cup.

This ref is itching for an excuse to do us over. No way was that a penalty. Gives us a yellow card 3 min in and ignores several similar challenges from the Danes.

Epic. Especially considering the French rolled over in the other game.

As the only one on here who ever said nice things aboit Leckie i def take some credit for tonights goal.

Also, GVE already penning letters to the editor, imagine being happy winning a game eith only 28% possession.

Gypo Arnold continues to fail upwards, which can only mean his next logical step is to become a Greens senator and live the rest of his miserable life gorging at the trough of idiotic statements and hollow gestures all the while being handsomely renumerated by everyone else.

    **** Craig Foster.

    Another beer please bartender.

    Fooled me too.
I would’ve been happy to see him hooked. Bloke should retire now. Can’t top that moment imo. At minimum he’s got himself 5 years as an a league coach if he desires with that claim to fame, right mr aloisi?
I’m still baffled how he managed to stay upright and get a shot off, let alone find the inside post and beat Schmeichel.

Still shocked we survived that first 25 minutes. They must be spewing.

    What’s a 95th minute Argentinian penalty at 0-0 paying?

Really pleased for Japan (and Asian football in general). It's been a pretty good tournament so far

The continent who has failed so far has been the Europeans

Germany Belgium Denmark Wales have all left without a shot barely fired

All this BS about them being in season has turned out to be irrelevant

The reality is there Qualification is a joke

Denmark for example played Scotland Austria Israel Moldova and the Faroe Islands to qualify

No wonder they are top 10 in the rankings when you get cheap wins against these type of teams

The results so far with Japan topping their group beating Spain and Germany then Saudi beating Argentina were we being over harsh on Australia not coming top 2 easily in qualifying

I think Asia is stronger and more technical than we give credit. This had been a terrific tournament to showcase that and the strengths of Asia when they go toe to toe.
I think we should be aiming for automatic qualification as a pass mark, but also be aware that that is actually an achievement. Playoffs is like having to sit the test again.
We have lots of useless games in Asian qualifying though. And those early rounds don’t help the general perception of Asia when the news reports us winning games by 3,4,5,6 goals to nil. Like even the final round, it’s essentially 3 teams in each group playing for automatic qualification.

The leagues in Saudi, Japan and Korea are all improving and their base of players to select from is getting stronger. Which an outsider may say the same about the a league, with a lot of our squad playing in the a league in recent times. We tend to have a complex that our league is rubbish. But people will be looking at Leckie, duke and Goodwin to see where they are playing.

Another cracking day with Group H drama. These last round games have been terrific for a neutral this WC.

Where I would say the Asians have got better is defensively

    Have a look at Japan

Even though they parked the bus against Spain and Germany they were pretty tight in defence. Even in WCQ I have noted when they play us their strategy is to get their defence sorted first and keep a clean sheet rather than trying to outplay us with their superior technical skills

Korea have also kept it very tight at the back

Even Australia with the 2 clean sheets in a row

Take the useless Qataris out of the equation and Iran's aberration against England the Asian teams have got into games based on being able to defend at the required standards at this level

I would say this is the big issue as we ain't seeing cheap goals scored from defenders or keepers not able to deal with aerial threats in the box like in the past
