Most of those issues you bring up and benefits you bring up have **** all to do with the Newcastle Jets

Column inches in the regional NNSW rags for football have nothing to do with the Jets

Winning hearts and minds in NNSW isn't gonna mean **** all to the Jets in the short medium or long term

Winning hearts and minds in the Newcastle and Hunter community will though
You don't win hearts and minds by shafting your existing support base correction long suffering support base to appease a few hillbilly's who live in the sticks by giving them a taste of the big smoke for a day

Someone thinks they are scoring a goal with this idea but they are showing how inept they are

They can't even engage their own community properly

. Why not work at fixing this rather than chasing some pie in the sky dream of engaging a community 400kilometres from downtown Newy???

Some very interesting comments from Miller on recruitment. Seems the memo from the FFA on not signing players didn't make it to Scott's desk. Which I think is exactly what he should be doing.

    I disagree

except that the jets form part of a still fledgling competition struggling to get decent TV ratings and wanting to get onto FTA

i suggest that man u, arsenal, man city, everton, juventus and all the other teams that have travelled thousands of kilometres to play a couple of matches would disagree with that statement.

I agree. why can't we do both?

if the price drops to reflect that there is one less game, then I don't see how you're shafting anybody. and nice work with the end of that statement, you always have such sensible arguments.

easy to say from the sidelines. put your hand up next time there is a position going there if you think you can do better.

I agree, they need to improve, but again, why can't they do both

if you are too narrow minded to see the potential benefit of this, then I feel sorry for you (and just so you know, the Newcastle jets need to look a little further afield than "downtown Newy". Downtown newy must have a population far less than 20,000. don't think you can sustain a football club in a national competition with a catchment of 20,000).

Can you imagine? Businesses will have the opportunity to have company for $5 5 5 for each home game. Gives a whole new meaning to corporate box.

Listica and Hervas released from Brisbane. Never heard of Hervas untill the last Roar game so know nothing about him. Lustica worth a shot though?

Hervas is up there with Jardel for the worst imports ever.

But hey while ever we have millions playing the game and not many of those millions turning up to the elite matches lets just keep ignoring the grassroots.

Hearts and minds don't matter? Bullshit. Get major regional centres like coffs or tamworth or port Macquarie focussed on the jets, increase TV ratings for jets games due to nnsw towns all tuning in to watch and we might start to be able to argue with broadcasters that we do warrant a Saturday night timeslot and we get less stinking hot Sunday arvo games.

Their whistle stop tour last year got a whole heap of people in the manning area watching and traveling, and buying merch.

A better relationship with nnsw might see better links being built with Newcastle/hunter based clubs and benefits flow both ways.

Everyone in football has a responsibility to promote the game.

I rate Lustica but we already have enough salary cap committed to his position in Poljak, Ugarkovic and Kanta

Is Pablo Sanchez off contract? Would be hard to get. Was watching the aftermath of the GF he looked pretty chummy with his Spanish mates. However has now won Major and Minor prems with them. Might be chasing something different and would be a walk up starter in Newy.
Also Bonnevacia from the Nix? Now that they've signed Finkler will they be able to play with two 10s?
Just food for thought. Think I read today that Jets were only chasing Aussie talent for the first part of preseason with Visa players to come in late. Likely to do with ownership me thinks.

You played the local Coffs Harbour track??

Made it there after missing it on 1\2 a dozen occasions.
    Was highly impressed.

Quality course ignored due to the fapfest at Bonville which is a shame

2 weeks time I'm off to play Kew on Friday then Saturday/ Sunday at Bonville.

Couldn't get on at Coffs on the Friday because they have some corporate day on. Was keen to try it though.

Oh well Bonville will have to do.

Why do we need to take a game to a regional centre when all we have to do is promote the foz?

That way everyone, not only in those centres, but across the world can come on here and get a clear and accurate account of what's wrong with the jets, the HAL, the Socceroos, the game in general and basically any other topic up for discussion from the members wonderful postings.

I'm truly surprised that it isn't already a nationally syndicated production......

I can understand where the likes of Gaz and Belchardo are coming from in regards to playing a game at Coffs or Port but I am still of the opinion that this can be done during the off-season or in pre-season. Engage with the community then, come season proper it's about playing for points and trying to win as many games as possible at home.
I'm with the good old Member on this one!
Find it hypocritical that Eland and Northern talk of wanting to engage other areas of NNSW using the Jets as the conduit but the NNSW NPL competition as long as I can remember has never included a side outside the Hunte....how's that for bloody engaging other areas of NNSW!!!
