Whilst I'm a firm believer in all organisations rounding up middle management and setting them all on fire, our new CEO better be ready to pull the trigger on a bunch of bullshit she's probably not used to.

There's a few councils with small man syndrome out there that may be ripe for shelling out to be the 'home of the jets'. We should be taking advantage of that.

Clown after clown thinking the Knights will give us a fair shake has been embarrassing enough.

    Go get em tiger.

Just to add to the drama - another sports betting scandal, this one involving somebody from Western United.

Found an article that said his family would drive from Sydney to watch him play here.

That was from 10 years ago though when he was with us.

Not sure. I think he has family in sydney, not sure about his wife.

I'd have him back of we were an option.

But there's rumours he's heading back to WSW

I see Brian Kaltak's desire to test himself overseas has led him to Perth!

Jets Memberships renewals were sent out last week. An interesting move this season to change the full membership from including access to both men's and women's matches.

Those attending the ALW will not need to add it to the ALM package.

As a family who attend both ALM and ALW matches, I will be keen to see the impact this has on the crowd. The ALW crowds in Newcastle and Maitland have always been strong - I wonder if the membership structure was a driver to this. That said, I can see the viability of attempting to build the income for the ALW team through a dedicated membership too.

We will be retaining attendance at both, as will the people we sit with, so it will be intriguing to watch.

Good to see the Jets are not the shit show in the off season that they usually are, Western have missed player payments twice, Adelaide have got a rat killing the club from within, undermining the coach and could result in court proceedings from a player

Western are in deep shit. Rumoured buyers (KAM) have apparently already been deemed as "not fit and proper" by the APL before even having submitted an official bid. That's to go with missed player payments and a FIFA registration ban on new players that they are already dealing with.

Wow, not great for the players or staff there. Having witnessed it happen to us a few times you have to feel for those who are impacted.

Homegrown Newcastle Jets legend Nigel Boogaard will make a welcome return to the A-League club next month.

He?s set to replace Ken Schembri as the new general manager of football from 1 August.

It?s understood the Novocastrian will focus on managing the A-League Men?s (ALM) and Women?s (ALW) rosters, as well as providing direction to player development by leading the organisation?s Academy and Pre-Academy.

Born and raised in Newcastle, Boogaard?s career was spread across 16 seasons, making 122 appearances for the Jets with 121 of those as captain.

?I?m incredibly excited to be rejoining the club at such a pivotal moment,? he said.

?This region means a great deal to me.

?So, I?m honoured to have the opportunity to help shape its football future.

?With the strong backing of Maverick Sports Partners and the appointment of CEO Tain Drinkwater, it?s clear Newcastle is entering a bold new era.

?There?s a specific vision and renewed ambition to be a club that our people and communities are proud to belong to and re-establish the Jets as a competitive force in the A-Leagues.

?I?m committed to supporting our coaches and staff in developing the current and next generation of talent, while strengthening our pathway from youth to elite level.?

Drinkwater admitted Boogaard brought a wealth of experience to the organisation.

?Nigel?s made a significant contribution as a player and, now, as an executive in our business,? she said.

?His knowledge of our community, the league and club will be a key strength and we look forward to welcoming him back.

?I?d also like to acknowledge Ken Schembri, who has done a fantastic job as the general manager of football over the past 12 months.

?His commitment to the Newcastle Jets has been outstanding and we wish him all the very best for his future.?
