Hey mate, these guys usually do a good job of maintaining it:

Stein would be a great signing. Clinical finisher. A modern day Juho Makela - The Surgeon (sup, q).
But, we have no players to service a Stein (or a Berisha, or anyone like that). He would look rubbish if he came to us and we had the same players backing him up.
Also, in b4 the "Bridges could do it".
OK
----------------Biraz-----------------
Neville--Regan--Chapman--Carney
--------------Kanta------------------
Hoole---------#10---------Goodwin
-----------Griff---Taggart-----------
For next season, I'm picturing something like the above may/could work. Assuming Griff & Carney are still around then. And assuming Kew isn't.
Having a brief look at sfcu (and assuming what I looked at was up to date), the players I'd be keen on us attempting to sign who are off contract would be:
Brattan
McKay
Spiranovic
Finkler
And IMO none of them are realistic targets.
OK
I came to the conclusion last night that we are probably the least attractive option for an off-contract player. We still have a young developing squad. We have had zero success in the last 3+ seasons (being the elast successful club over this time).
Two things can bring the players here - $$$ or the coach. $$$ Are going to be an issue.
For me it comes down to who we appoint as the next coach. The next coach needs to be able to attract these players OR get the current crop playing above their level and develop them further.
agreed, hence why I consider no players to be realistic transfer targets.
We're good for players who have run out of options, are down on form/luck/opportunities elsewhere, etc.
We also seemingly have no-to-little players who can attract players. Look at when ljubo was here - he got a bunch of players over. Petkovic or whoever at SFC has dragged half of Serbia over.
I've come to a conclusion that I draw routinely - we need to splurge on Bresciano
OK
When Hoole and Goodwin learn to cross, yes. Until such time we need a top quality winger.
Middleby Gone
Lawrie Out
In your opinion, which current HAL wingers CAN cross?
And if you were given control of the transfers, which winger(s) would you sign from where (doesn't necessarily need to be from HAL)? Let's say you have the option of: medium-pay salary cap player, high-pay salary cap player, australian marquee, international marquee.
OK
How is it so hard to put in a decent cross ffs.
A-league players that come to mind that can cross ...
- Cassio
- That shit idiot from sydney who reckoned he was a fk specialist? Came from a state league team? I can't remember his name now. Played on the right.
Actually can't think of many decent crossers lol.
Rojas / Thompson were putting in some pretty bloody good balls to each other, most of them on the deck though.
Shannon Cole?
I used to rate Dugandzic before he broke his foot last season. He's been average since then.
Bratten can take a decent free-kick.
Bratten is a good passer but he's not a winger. In reality I can't remember many teams that have converted lots of headers in the a-league.
For some reason reminded me of old mate Coveny, much love. He's managing Victree Youth team apparently.
None of the strikers on our books at the moment could finish like this (except of course jg).
Also, how bad is the defending rof.
So really, there's barely any HAL players who can cross.
Kewell can, Franjic can, not many others.
We apparently want better wingers - there's barely any wingers out there nowadays. A high&wide man is more inclined to beat a man and run in, or cut back out and play in a close-proximity central midfielder. Goodwin is great at the first, Hoole is great at the second. They'll only get better with age, too.
Possibly the only out-and-out winger in the HAL is Hersi - who I don't necessarily rate as a crosser either. Plus he's old. And too busy making movies with Tom Hanks.
OK
Rof.
Goodwin should be an excellent crosser of the ball as according to everyone he's got great technique on his left foot.
He just needs to attack the by-line and cross more often, though he was woeful against Sydney. Give him time imo, during GvE's reign I'm almost certain the wide players were given a mandate to cut inside and re-cycle the ball rather than hit the line and whip in a cross.
What team consistently scores from a winger crossing the ball.
