Completely Hypothetical Figures here (I'm sure its more)
Player gets payed $100 per game
    11 Player's per team $1100 per game
18 games per season $19,800 per season
    5 seasons saving $19,800=$99,000

Then these clubs have the nerve to seek for council funds for facilities upgrades...

And if you take this 20k a season frittered away to pay players and use it to subsidise rego fees for their juniors you can knock the price of rego down $100 for 200 kids or $200 for 100 kids.

Do that and the issue of expensive and OTT kids regos is knocked in the head in one foul swoop

I know this is very optimistic but are any clubs (other than westy) still after any u/23s players? I do realise that nearly all squads were probably finalised a few weeks/months ago but am just seeing if anything is available. Shoot me a message if there are any vacancies anywhere
    thanks

Where do you get that $20k a season from, though? It's all from sponsors, who want to support and get their name out there via a senior team. Seeing the company name on a picture in The Herald, etc.

You take away money from NEWFM and NBN, and give it to kids, sounds great but no one is going to fund it.
    OK

I agree with most of the talk about player payments being excessive, but the reality is the team that stops paying will be on a quick slope to relegation.

No they won't because NNSWF will not let anyone from ZPL come up!

Any games this weekend ? Have Valo got a game ? I went down to see the belswans game and thought the game was a bit closer than scoreline suggested.

    Maitland v Olympic
1st Grade Olympic won 3-1. Olympic had 3 clear cut chances missed in the first half while Maitland could have easily scored 5 in the 2nd half. Maitland held their own against a very good Olympic side.
23's 1-1 ( I missed most of this game and was 1-0 to Olympic when I left but was told it ended 1-1.)
    19's 1-1.

    At Blacksmiths today….BelSwans V's Jaffas.
    Results
U/19's 0-2 (Jaffas). Many players missing from both teams.
U/23's 0-3 (Jaffas)…. I think that was the final score.
1st's 1-3 (Jaffas). Appeared a solid hit out for both teams.
    Pretty oppressive heat all day.

Edgy originally drew Westy, who pulled out of it.

Shame, what a cup draw with that derby!

I believe Cessnock won on penalties after 0-0 at full time. Definitely Cessnock playing on Sunday in round 2.

I got told Cessnock should have won 4-1 in normal time.
