In all honesty when I see that picture I cringe.
Whilst it does look fantastic, it's far to big for us, the end terraces do not need to be double tier.
What we need is the lower terrace of both the East and West stands to be joined up by having seating where the hills are. Where the corners in the Western Stand end now is high enough it just needs to continue around on both hills to join the Eastern Stand with coverd seating.

Hearty chuckles at all the people blowing up about the stadium.
They may want to turn their attention to their respective state govts who all had a chance to host the game and chose not to.
Suck a big bag of them the lot of you.

I don't care who's playing, a semi and playoff for the Asian Cup on Newy soil is beyond epic.

While I'd be happy with the single tier, what is wrong with going for a bigger stadium and get bigger events?

Lens has a population of 250,000 now and has a 40,000 capacity stadium.

The pictured stadium in Newcastle could get an annual NRL final, Socceroos match , Super 14 and any number on concerts - if it had the facilities.

If Soccerroos beat China then looks like Australian Active support will be in bay 50.......And opposition active support in bay 60!!! (Semi Final is Winner Q2 V Winner Q4, so assuming Winner Q2 will be team 1)

Because 10,000 people in a 40,000+ seater looks embarrassing.
Without the second tier it would still be around 35,000 and would be big enough to host such events that you mentioned.

Pipe dream talking here would be a brand new stadium of 15-18,000 somewhere in the center of town for us to use regular and leave Hunter Stadium for Finals, Dog Molesters and Events of the likes that you talked about.

Fully agree about the pipe dream of our own ground.
    **** paying rent.
Get a quality surface all year round as no one ****s it on you
You build it right as a football stadium and not a multi purpose venue and you don't have no in goals for the Rugby codes so everyone closer to the action
Atmosphere also improves when you have it packed.

Stade de Newy is far from perfect for HAL at present and is far too big 99% of the time for our clubs needs and is even too big for the Dog Molesters needs most weeks

Been saying this for years that we need a 12000 to 15000 football built stadium that we can fill out every week and create a real Jets culture at and tough if we then have the odd week that we could have sold 20000 tickets . It will make people want to get membership each year and we grow from that point.

What venue's are available ? Magic Park anyone LOL

What is actually epic is the burn coming from the ****s in Sydney and Melburn blowing up.

****s in Melburn blowing up as no Socceroos QF in Melburn. Did they not realise they may not top the group?? Bit of a stretch to assume they would top the group anyway with an opponent like Korea in there
****s now blowing up about no semi in Melburn either

****s in Sydney blowing up that they should be entitled to see the NT again. Eat a Dick you ****s
Jump a train you lazy ****s just like we have to when we have to see the Socceroos

Newys time to shine in the sun.

    Ohh the Burn is epic

No. 2 Sportsground. Next to Marketown, the ground is fantastic. Used by (funded by mainly) Wanderers Rugby.

It is currently being used as an AFC Asian Cup training facility.

Cessnock Sportsground (Goannas Rugby League)... Japan trained there and it was hands down the best pitch I've seen in Australia. Amazing was all I could think when I saw it.

Why not make the new heart of Football at NNSWFF grand park. Take Lakes ground and put grandstands all round it. Knock a tunnel into the NNSWFF Regional facility for connectivity and there you have it.

Newcastle council, FFA, Jets and Northern should join forces with the AFL, Cricket Australia & Athletics Australia to loby State and a Federal Government to make a Newcastle Sporting Complex at National Park.
If you move the Croquett next to Lowlands bowling club it would free up a large amount of space.
Upgrades to No1 New Grandstand for AFL & Cricket, Leave No2 as is for the Rara, brand new Football specific Stadium for the Jets and give the Athletics Track a face lift.
Build a large Free Car Park complex with a Bus interchange that could be useful for people who work in the city, Car Park and Bus Interchange would then be sufficient for Major Events and Match day's.

Pretty F'ing simple but this is Newcastle.
So first you would need to do a study that would take at least 5 year's then you need a study on the previous study. After all that you would have to get past all the legal proceedings that the tree huggers and hippies that became lawyers throw at you. Once all that is done you would have to wait until an election comes around so either side of the pollies can promise the funding for it from the selling off of some asset, only to be then with drawn after the Awabacal land coucil cliams the land is of cultural significants and the plans sit idle for the next 2 years until the next election comes around.

That greyhound track out at Birmingham gardens would make a great football ground.

The main thing you would have to consider with building a stadium would be public transport infrastructure. You would need to actually build it in an area serviced by train/buses or what is left of the train line in Newy.

To me the ideal site would be to kick EDI off their site at Cardiff and build there for the day the Glendale interchange gets built somewhere next millenia

IMO it has to be in the City.

The match day experience is far more enjoyable when the stadia is located in the CBD, something that is drivig popularly in the MLS is having Stadia located in the respective Cities Central Hub's.

You only have to look at Gold Coast and ANZ to see what happens when you put a Stadium in the middle of nowhere. Pubs and restaurants pre and post game benefit from it and match day becomes a day out rather than just a day at the Football.

Where will we drink if it's at Glendale? Argy Pub?

If you think we'd ever get a purpose built stadium you have rocks in your head.

Think outside the square and work out how to fill Marathon Henny Penny Energy Australia Stadium !!???
