    3-1

Jesmond held on well, Stags had a lot of possession just couldn't break down their defence (missing our best ST, but that's no excuse). Toronto had plenty of chances in the final quarter, just couldn't convert. Good Luck to Jesmond next round, some good players in that team.

I honestly think that it's being played far too early in the year. As some have said, most Zone league teams have only been training for about a month. This makes it very difficult for these teams to be competitive against not only better but also much fitter players. Also add the cricket season to this when games are for some reason played on a Saturday. NPL players may not be as committed to cricket as say a ZL2 player would be, if put in the same position.

Once the Zone teams are match fit, I think the scores would be much closer.

Happy with our win v Toronto. 3-0 up then it perhaps showed how early in our pre season we are as we got ran over the top of in the last 30 minutes. We've probably only had half dozen full sessions and one trial so lads were doing it tough. Late on our gk got rounded but their striker forgot to shoot then we conceded a pen which the entire lead up was disappointing from our perspective. 3-1 probably a fair result. Apparently an up and coming female ref who I thought was very good.
Good setup out there and was run like clockwork. Well done all involved. Good to play on a true pitch rather than the goat tracks we usually play on. My only negative in the setup is the awkward proximity of grandstands. Whoever planned them needs a clip.
We'll probably draw someone out of our depth but will take it for what it is, an opportunity to test ourselves that we otherwise wouldn't have had.
Goof luck Toronto in your comp.

Went out and watched Olympic Vs. Suns on Saturday. Suns where very competitive in the first half and Olympic found it very difficult to break them down. Second half Suns ill discipline in the form of silly fouls and defensive errors cost them and Olympic ran away with the game from there. I'm not sure if Olympic are expecting many players back from injury, but just from my observation I believe the only established first graders that where missing where one of the Swan boys and Bailey. Olympic wasn't convincing at all and looked like there attack was very dis-jointed. This could be put down to a number of new signings in the front third just waiting to gel and the very young squad they had out, which they may reap the benefits of in the future. Early signs that i took away from the game is that Olympic have a good young squad, that i believe may start off slowly, but if they can get some confidence in the young boys and instil a good culture, they may finish the year strongly. I realise that it is still relatively early in the pre-season but its just what i took away from the game.

Pretty much agree with everything you have said.
But when you add Bailey, tom spenser and the swan boys too the starting line up it adds a lot of experience.

On a date TBA, it wouldn't surprise me if NNSW don't have it set in stone yet.

The Quarter and Semi Finals are on the 21st and 22nd of June, but there is still the 3rd and 4th rounds to be played before that.

Can confirm Kotara Tigers defender also did his ACL in round 1. Anyone got an idea of the official count after two rounds of games.

That is shit. I have also heard that due to the heat from the surface, there are reports of players having the glue melt on the base of the boots, allowing the sole and studs to partially come away. Anyone else have this trouble?

I believe it was due to something happening to the field. Not exactly sure what though.

Yep and people keep telling me these pitches are safer than normal grass.

Love how the statistics coming out that say they are as safe as grass are coming from studies from Pitch installation companies

as for the the pitch havent been on it (living over here).. but i have had my fair share of various synthetic pitch surfaces... some are soft and do feel quite real to grass for most of the time.. but others like the one i played on last weekend in Basel (just next to fc basel stadium, whata complex) was a very hard under foot surface... for gk a nightmare... alot of people pulled up for training very sore...

But hey thats another discussion re pitches....

on other cup news tomorrow aarau of to sion (4 hour bus ride in switzerland woo haha)
    Amigos Aarau
