Why would he be asking about the 2015/16 fixtures list being released if they were released in July last year?
    This makes no sense.

Damien Duff, Rob Wielaert, Iain Ramsay and Mate Dugandzic will not be remaining with Melbourne City FC for the upcoming season.
Kew Jaliens, who joined the Club mid-season on a short-term injury replacement contract, has also been released.

surely all contract negotiations across the league are on hold by order of head office until we have selected our squad? we are owned by the FFA now!

A STAND-off between Football Federation Australia and Professional Footballers Australia has left Newcastle Jets players waiting for monthly wages that are now 11 days overdue.

Jets employees were to be paid on May 15, but when that did not happen it triggered a series of events culminating in owner Nathan Tinkler placing the club into voluntary administration and having his franchise licence revoked.

FFA stepped in to assume control last Wednesday and promised to pay all Newcastle’s employees their May wages by the end of the week.

Nine of Newcastle’s 10 administrative staff were paid last Friday but players cannot be remunerated until they sign contracts with the new Newcastle entity.

PFA has advised the players not to sign because it is concerned FFA has been unable to guarantee that other outstanding financial obligations, in particular almost $800,000 in employee superannuation – much of which is owed to players – will be settled.

‘‘The FFA has the funds ready to pay the 15 players who are to be offered like-for-like contracts with the new A-League club in Newcastle,’’ the head of the A-League, Damien de Bohun, said in a statement on Monday.

‘‘The delay is down to a procedural issue on the part of the PFA, which is holding up the delivery of the new agreements to the players. Once the players have signed new contracts, the payments are ready to be made.’’

But PFA’s head of player relations Simon Colosimo said there were ‘‘fundamental basic rights’’ that needed to be protected before any contracts were signed.

‘‘The CBA makes provision for the PFA and FFA to negotiate in good faith when a licence changes hands,’’ Colosimo said. ‘‘... It is critical that the PFA doesn’t allow this to occur unless we are satisfied all guarantees are in place to protect the current and the former players or that all payments have/will be made.

‘‘Our bottom line is to protect the players and the game. ‘‘It is in the interests of all parties that there is certainty on this matter.’’

PFA is concerned that in past cases when franchises have changed hands, players have been left with no option other than to forfeit superannuation and other entitlements.

‘‘Historically, anything that was outstanding, FFA said: ‘You’re just going to have to wear it’,’’ Colosimo said, adding that PFA was representing not only the 15 Jets players under contract for next season, but also many who have long since left the club.

‘‘We believe that FFA have turned the corner since then and we do have a good working relationship with them.

‘‘We believe they will honour these obligations.

‘‘We are confident they will, but we need to do the right thing by our members and that is to ensure all these [obligations] are in place.’’

An FFA spokesperson said until the governing body had a full breakdown of the $4million in liabilities Tinkler had racked up in his five years as Jets owner, it was too early to ascertain which creditors would be paid.

Colosimo said more of Newcastle’s players had contacted PFA on Monday asking to be advanced money from the union’s hardship fund.
Once again PFA looking like a bunch of amatuers.

Maybe next time they negotiate with the FFA instead of going for more cash for players who don't deserve it they actually force the FFA to structure things so the players get Super entitlements pay etc without any of the issues as seen with Tinkler in the last 4 years.

    Not rocket science

Pay for the non-marquee players (everything under the cap) shoudl be centralised and paid for by the ffa - it essentially is anyway with they way they cover the cap with TV money and pay it to clubs in installments.

might solve some of the salary cap issues too.

Bit of a communist way of doing things but probably the right way forward.

When you think about it the FFA have provided HSG with the money to pay the players. The ATO have taken the players wages as Tinkler has issues with his other businesses that have nothing at all to do with Newcastle Jets as a result players miss out. Not really fair on them.

FFA paying the players directly would stop this happening and would also see all super and entitlements honoured.

The only issues then would be Marquees Coaching and admin staff which the club would be responsible for

Be interesting to note whether the FFA have grounds for taking on Tinkler for the loss of money and any issues with the club being insolvent at the time

That's exactly what the MLS do but the Marquee players are called Designated Players DP's.

Jimmy Gardiner was harassing Birraz on Twitter yesterday.

Article in paper today says Birraz unlikely to sign new contract at Jets as he wishes to stay in Europe preferably. Don't forget all our players are technically free to go due to the Tinker/FFA change.

Vukoshit has just left Perth due to him cracking it over the salary cap issue and Perth have a spot.

Birraz is a Perth boy so looks like 2+2 = 5

I would be backing Birraz won't be in Newy and will be staying in Europe. If he can happily sit on the bench for an Italian 2nd Division side he ain't coming back to the HAL anytime soon

Nah, that's bollocks. Vukovic wanted to be back on the east coast for the birth of his kid, had been in discussions about early exit at seasons end with the club and the salary cap drama has just facilitated that without it being a real issue. He's nailed on to head to WSW, it would seem.
