Good level of intensity. Changing around one touch drills with 2 players inside 5 others,
stretches and exercises in between. Looked better that the Stubbins sessions I saw anyway to make a
    comparison with. (callin' the Captain??)
Grant Matthews was in the mddle of coring both James Watt fields this morning when I had a chat with him.
The lads will be on No3 for the next two weeks, if anyone is interested in having a gander.
GM said JW will be out for that time frame with the renos...
Kick @ss coring machine he has too btw.
Really? I mainly saw JP and miller leading the drills. Jones and I think the physio took Leonardo aside after a while to do some fitness testing.
I must say the combo of miller and JP seems seems very promising. Both pushing them hard but remaining positive when things are as smooth as they would like. Very different to start of last season when I went and couldn't see the muppet but could hear him hurling abuse constantly at any mistake.

Should have paid attention to a bloke over on whirlpool who said this about Stubbins early last year before he had actually coached a game...

You'll find over time that he talks the talk but can't get his team to walk the walk for him Grim.
He really struggled with Campbelltown City here in SA last year, with a team that on paper should have been in contention to win the whole thing.

That's at a state league level, let alone National. Damien Mori will be the next big coach to come out of Adelaide. He's doing good things with City.

When he played against my team, he was berating his players and yelling and screaming most of the match.

Yep, it's pretty obvious that Middleby and Baartz did not do their due diligence on Stubbins. I suppose in the end they both done the honourable thing and resigned.

I might be mistaken but i thought it was official about Boogs being captain?

Actually as soon as he was signed months ago I tipped him to be the captain. Wouldn't be surprised if Muppet offered it to him originally but it seems that he is the logical choice anyway and Miller looks to have made his mind up.

Nothing is official yet. But i would've thought, and i expected, it would be announced today...

Im just hoping we hear of a new Jets striker tomorrow! Getting excited about the season ahead, we have a pretty solid team this yr, but more importantly, the coaching staff has made a massive difference

    Solid team??

I reckon the squad we have this season on paper is massively inferior to the squad muppet assembled at the start of last year.

Last season we had options of Montano Griff Jeronimo up front.

This year our option are Labi and some untried kids.

Chalk and cheese really and I can't see any of our rivals shitting house bricks at the thought of our attack

Miller is gonna need to be a top class coach to drag this side up to scratch with the rest of the teams in the League.

I would say we are solid, i certainly wouldn't say inferior. We are lighter on up top as last year we have griff, carney, flores, jeronimo. Going into the season we had no idea how Montano would go. This year we have Leonardo (could be amazing?), alidovic, labi and another striker to come in. We aren't that far off and with the coaching we have now surely we have to be ahead!

In Midfield we are a heap stronger than last season. I think Poljak is going to be huge for us this season, i really believe that is our best signing so far.

Boogard at the back definitely makes us stronger, Mullen is decent and Leaky G all season too.
WE DON'T DO WALKING AWAY !

So apples with apples and our squad from the beginning of last season with this seasons. We can't include Leaky, Alivodic, Mullen etc in last year's squad

    KEEPERS

    14/15 - Birraz, Kennedy
    15/16 - Birraz, Kennedy

    DEFENCE

14/15 - Neville, Regan, Jaliens, Madaschi, Gallagher. Welsh, Gallaway
    15/16 - Hoffman, Mullen, Boogaard, Ki-Je, Jackson, Muata-Marlow, Cowburn (?)

    MIDFIELDERS

14/15 - Kantarovski, Pepper, Caravella, Celeski, Baressi, Cooper, Steele
15/16 - Kantarovski, Poljak, Watson, Cooper, Baressi, Leonardo

    FORWARDS

14/15 - Griffiths, Neumann, Montano, Lundy, Carney, Hoole, Virgili, Flores
15/16 - Haliti, Brennan, Lundy, Carney, Alivodic, Pavicevic, Crowley, TBA

    Go nuts.

Get the new striker and we have the same squad number as last year

I think the defence is slightly better.

    Midfield is far better.

Striking department potentially equal but dependant on quality of striker to be signed.

So on par team to last year where most rated us a final chance.

Difference being Miller and JP - and that is a MASSIVE improvement IMO.

No-one is talking title contenders (and rightly so) but if they play as a solid unit and if (BIG IF) Leonardo can be a creative catalyst in midfield then we offer a threat this year and hopefully come New Year will be talking of our chances of playing finals football.

Getting rid of the two Galla's makes our defence amazingly better straight away.

Hoffman is a definite downgrade on Neville but Boogaard is one of the top 5 CB's in the league and a better player than Regan, Madaschi or Jaliens. Mullen is a bog standard HAL defender so is pretty much a like for like replacement for the other bog standard ones we had. A full pre-season under his belt and a coach that knows what he is doing... Leaky G is going to be the best left back in the league for mine. And compared to who we had there last year... It's like adding Roberto Carlos in his prime. Jackson is an upgrade on depth compared to Gallagher/Welsh and I've absolutely no idea what to expect from Muata-Marlow.

I think Poljak is a huge upgrade on everyone we had last year, Watson is kind of a bit underwhelming but that's my thoughts on who we had last year as well... I think Cooper/Kanta will have significantly improved seasons compared with last (though more due to coaching). Will reserve judgement on Leonardo but I imagine he will be a big upgrade on Cooper assuming he plays behind the strikers. However... you have Flores as a forward but he was in behind, so I don't know if Leonardo will be significantly better to what Flores should have been capable of. Dunno.

Forward line is shit, no Griff.

The biggest change though is obviously who is in charge. SM and JP are doing good things it would seem... something that I don't think anyone other than Stubbins said about Stubbins last year.

I don't think we'll be lacking any creativity. Hopefully the new striker has a bit of speed about him because I think we are lacking in that department a bit unless Lundy Or andy Brennan rises to the occasion on one of the flanks occasionally.

Let's be realistic. Considering the basket case we were a few months ago, we should be grateful we even have a team to watch this season.

In those few months we have signed some good players, new coaching staff, got sponsors on board, changed the vibe considerably and disposed of the Knights connections (apart from mutual spoons).

They won't win anything, finals will be a bonus, but anything other than last, with a bit of fight and style will do me.

Anyone continually seeking the negatives needs to have a good look at themselves and consider themselves lucky they are above the grass each day rather than under it.

Actually looking forward to it now.

Are you really a Jets fan? Seeking the negatives is what we do best, ffs.

I am hoping that with Hoole gone, our shit hair cut quota will drop dramatically... but I remember Brennan had a god awful one in some pic the club put up.

Being negative on our chances this season has **** all to do with anything. Sure there has been change in the club for the good in the last 4-5 months but reality is we have not rebuilt that well. Nearly all of our signings since Muppet and Tinkler got the arse are nobodies. We have not made one signing that says we want to be finals bound. We have just cobbled together a squad of bits and pieces with no obvious plan how we are moving up the table in the future at all. It almost looks like the club have surrendered already this season with making the semis.

I am looking at things in the cold light of day with a sense of realism. We were a long way off the pace last season. I sure as shit hope we have a crack every game and play for the fans and put a bit of pride back into the club this season.

I though not see this as any guarantee we will avoid the spoon.

Sure Miller may well prove to be 50 times the manager Muppet was (shouldn't be hard) problem is just like the rest of our new faces the jury is out on him and them as to what they will bring to the club in tangible improvement.

Reality says to me there is a distinct lack of quality in our squad. The same quality we had when we finished 7th every year
