The question I'd as is who are West Asian teams like KSA & UAE playing and beating to be ranked higher than us?

It's the seeding that's go me stumped in this process. Wiki on this page have us ranked 2nd based on expected points come April 7th.

You think they'd get this sorted before this stage of the game. We're now 8 days out from the 3rd round draw.

Good point about the Saudis and how they out rank us they ain't playing anyone of note and beating the big names.

They ain't beating much in Confederation stuff.

They have done **** all in Asian Cups since we came to Asia and didn't even get out of the first group stage last WCQ campaign

The only way they can be ahead of us is if they are maximising their FIFA ranking by scheduling useless friendlies against weak opponents to be artificially boosting their ranking

If those pots are right and we avoid Iran and have to play only one of Japan or Sth Korea we should qualify easy.

The rest of those teams if we can't beat into 2nd spot then we don't deserve to go to the WC

Had a quick look at CONCACAF...for the 'just in case' factor.
Reckon we'd bring home the bacon there v 4th place over 2 legs.

You'd think our worst case scenario would be drawing all of Saudi Arabia, UAE & Iraq. Best case, we avoid all three of them. Particularly Iraq, I really enjoyed watching them in the Asian Cup.

Basically win the 4 games at home V the lesser teams.
We should do easy.

There is 12 points

Try and get something from our games v Japan/Korea

We can do that home and away

Pick something up on the road somewhere againt the lesser teams.

We are there.

Away you not need to win as draws work just as well taking points off your rival teams

Also none of the lesser teams outside the Top 4 are going to win 8 -10 games in WCQ anyway as they will drop points off one another somewhere

My 'worst case' scenario for tonight is:-

Sth Korea - echo what MFKS said.
Saudi's - diving turds and would be akin to playing the Azadi...nutters!
China - reckon their standard had really improved with imports in the domestic comp. UAE ranked above China??
Iraq - not a fantastic history despite the ranking differences over the years.
Syria - gawd knows where this would be played...
