I call bullshit and it's not the first time Parriss has been wrong. Pariss cites an FFA spokesman, not the Jets. And it's a question I have asked McKinna directly and he has avoided it. Answered other questions on u20 players but not this.

For Brennan to be a mature age rookie, he must also have been a mature age rookie last season. You can't switch a player to it as the requirement is that they weren't playing professional football in the previous 18 months. So if Brennan was the mature age rookie last season, which the Jets did not announce, then the squad was under the minimum number of 20 players. Mature Age Rookies are outside the cap.

The silence on this from the Jets seems to indicate they are looking for a loophole like this as they know they are in trouble, but will still be very interesting to see the FFA register any contract for the Chinese player.
