I thought he was starting to find his feet there just before he left. I dont think he and isais worked very well together and were constantly moving into and patrolling the same areas.

    Would you sign him?

I think perhaps because he was played too deep? Isaias is probably better as a single holder but he was holding back. And he had Makarounas next to him as well. I thought his first game agaisnt us he was solid.

    WTF??

If the basis for signing a ViSa player is success at a HAL club then maybe

But let's put some faith in Bert's contacts delivering a 2017 Carlos Hernandez or Fred or Bonovecia etc

Someone no **** has heard of coming in and carving it up

I been watching a lot of the LaLiga and La Liga 2 highlights thanks to BeIn Sports

Go get some of those blokes and find the next Diego Castro

They can play and would kill it in this league the blokes at the lower end of LaLiga and the Upper end of LaLiga 2

I didn't say it wasn't speculation, I just posted the link. No different to the baseless speculation linking us to Milligan/FBK/Messi

In my opinion both FBK and Baro have both also "carved it up"

I must say, am surprised that after repeated years of signing Neville nobodies, that there are so many willing to beleive we stand any chance of Burns/FBK/Kruse etc

I feel you will be slightly disappointed when we do sign the likes of Lia/Tratt and co.

I would predict, bar the 1 marquee No #10 we sign, all our signings will be older journeymen types with the spin given that these are tougher experienced players we need.

Realistically 1 Visa player will be an unknown Chinese player, you can put your house on that.

Jimmy would be a success at the Jets imo.....but the money is better spent up the park

Would you put Georgevski and O'Donovan in that boat? Georgevski is one of the better left backs in the league and O'Donovan has consistently reached double figures for goals - something just 2 players have done in the Jets in 12 years.

For me, they're statement's of intent.

We've got 5 spots left to fill.

I'd be looking at Ansell, Holland, Kruse, Burns and Foreign #10.

I know we need to bring in a Chinese player so that complicates my theory - perhaps as a guest player?

Can we fit those under the cap?

Mullen, Nobby and BK should free up a lot.. But we still have Brown, Kokko, Boogs taking a fair chunk.

Kruze and/or Holland will want massive $$ Holland moreso...

No I wouldn't. But I still think you are sugar coating those 2 players and what impact they will have.

I would say firstly they are an improvement on what we had so in that respect they are good signings.

But don't let the GF change the fact that Georgievski wasn't wanted at MV and Lost his position to Broxham for most of the season. He is a good LB but well down the best in the league imo. Still an improvement for us

O'Donnovan is good, but be honest we took the striker off possibly the only team in the comp worse than we are. I hope it works out and we give him the support he will need.

It's not like we came out and beat SFC/MC/MV to the signing of a top player. That would be a statement of intent. All we have done is worried the bottom 4 teams that we might be more competitive

End of story.

I think it is a good thing that we have signed an experienced professional to work alongside a young keeper in Duncan. Merrick has described Moss as a model professional, how is it a bad thing that Duncan spends 12 months learning how to better prepare himself? We have not signed Moss long term, what is the point of signing another young keeper to sit on the bench that will not develop as he won't play. I would rather be in a position that either Moss is starting and teaching Duncan skills on how to train and prepare, or Duncan starts and if he gets injured we have a hugely experienced guy who can step straight in and it won't all be a massive shock to him.
I wonder how Lawrence Thomas is ever going to improve with Matt Acton as the No 2.......

I guess it's a luxury we can afford and Victory can't. Will be interesting to compare squads come Rd 1.

I wouldn't count Kennedy because his contract was subsidised. There wouldn't be as much there.

I put up a post before and said, as a rough guess*

    Mullen = Georgevski
    Nordstrand = O'Donovan

Poljak = Holland (remember, Adelaide fit him under the cap)
Hoole + BK outside cap = Ansell
    Foreign 10 = Marquee
    Haliti + Cooper = Moss
    Ma Leilei = Kruse

There is also the $300,000 increase in the salary cap from $2.6 to $2.9 million

    * I've got zero idea on this and it's an assumption and a stab in the dark

Seems to make sense to me. Rough guess based on ability etc.

Still plenty of clubs with spots free for Kruze and Holland, unfortunately.. Means someone else will more than likely get them.

Perth, City, Adelaide, Brisbane have plenty of space and $$ still to use...

Socceroos must be screened by Smurfs and Citeh first before other clubs can make bids.
