Fair enough - Sydney got 2005 and 2013 critical games.

    Melbourne should be enough

The Thais think 20C is snowing temperatures

They will struggle enough with Melbourne 5 days into Spring after flying in from Bangkok a couple of days earlier.

Though i was dropped from a monkey

Amazing news overnight - Saudi lost to UAE. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of blokes.

How were BOTH of UAE's goals - woof!

What this means for the Socceroos is if we can somehow beat Japan tomorrow, we have qualified for Russia without even taking into consideration what happens in the last game.
    OK

    Jeez those goals were good..
Just had a squiz at the table.. any reason why we are still sitting 3rd? Doesn't it go to head to head before goal difference so we would be ahead of the Saudis? (goal difference is equal anyway)
Therefore we would only need 3 points in next two games to qualify?
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

What it means also is the Saudis need to beat Japan in the last game to have any hope of Qualifying as well

A draw tomorrow night for us will actually put us in a great spot as it would all but guarantee qualification assuming we don't get pumped at home to the Thais

It's actually means that the last game for Saudia them and the Japs can't collude to manufacture a mutual result to screw is over

Destiny is in our hands as we will have to just beat Thailand by a large score to guarantee qualification regardless of tomorrow night's result

As I said though doesn't this comp go to head to head results rather than goal difference??

    An away draw to Japan?

Double-eff-aye just announced Pim Verbeek has flown in to take over coaching the team for this match.

See this is the exact game where it time to actually park the bus

A draw is a great result here

Don't really see it in Anges DNA though to play defensively here though

Matter of fact it would have been interesting to see Anges approach to this game if the Saudi result hadn't of fallen our way

Would he have stuck to his philosophy and attacked or chased a result by any means necessary

I was under the impression from memory it went Points, GD, goals scored, then head to head. I could almost definitely be wrong though.

I pretty certain that how it is

Saudis still ahead as points same GD same but they got16 goals to our 14 goals

Not that it really going to matter much after the last game anyway

It really down to what we both do in the last game

I thinking we going to find it much easier v Thailand than they will with the Japs

They need 3 to be certain

So tomorrow night a win for them and they through and a win for us and we through

A draw helps both of us but doesn't help them a great deal

Matter of fact regardless of what happens tomorrow night if Japan draw in Saudi Arabia they are through

Japan need minimum 1 point, doesn't matter from which game they have left, to automatically qualify (is that right? I dunno. If they draw v Saudi they are through definitely). Anything more than 1 from a potential 6 is overkill for them.

I'm disturbingly optimistic that we can beat Japan and make the last game v Thailand completely irrelevant.. and hopefully we put young AL players out for that Thai game.

I hope we get a draw tomorrow night so the foresight I showed to book flight and hotel for Melbourne before the game was announced are rewarded by being on hand as we qualify and can live the feeling of Uruguay 2005 and Iraq in 2013 etc
