Susjnar signed for 2 years, a little nervous with two years for this one considering he wasn't perfect at Perth, could turn into a Jurman 2.0 situation

This is just a token youth team, where are the players that we hope to sell on for profit, other than Stamma, none. Where are the young African origin players that other teams have had success with. This is just a boring line up. Hope to be proven wrong

You are forgetting this is Newcastle where if you are not related to, the child of a player who made it to NPL level in the past or known to those in the youth set up you have no chance of getting to be recognised as having talent. The first people Newcastle Jets need to hire are scouts in the outer reaches of Northern NSW to identify those kids with potential and offer them something to entice them to the system rather than asking them to pay for the privelege. Then we may see these young marginalised players unveiled.

To answer the slightly racist question you asked - Amos Okumu & Garang Arou are currently playing in the Jets 1st Grade (Youth Squad) in NPL3.

Bear in mind, Youth Captain and new Scholarship player Ben van Dorssen just got picked in a Young Socceroos Training Camp Squad, so there is a chance of a decent prospect there.

We have 18 under contract, so there is still room for hypothetically 5 more players. I would also think there would be a significant amount of money to spend. We need 3 quality, veteran players at least to be more competitive than last year.

I get the sentiment and concern...it depends on the idea of the role we have in mind for him. Didn't think he was great at LB against us.

Age-profile wise he's about to hit the apparent "sweet spot" which could be good....Jurman had lost his pace after coming to us and was a few years older.

At 28 he's one of the oldest in the squad (alongside Ryan Scott) so will more than likely need to take on a leadership role within the team.

Remember the difference having Boogaard made to organisation of the defense when he came in - we need the same from Susnjar. I think this puts pressure on Natta more than it does Cancar.

Susnjar has been signed to play left centre back, That is currently the position that was occupied by Natta.
For mine on paper it's a decent signing. Susnjar is experienced and likes to play the ball out from the back. As he has played recently as LB , which means he is quite mobile for a taller player.

Importantly Susnjar is very strong in the air, this will help defend and attack on set pieces.

Natta has played LB before and I think he was better there then LCB. I know some have previously disagreed but I remember him playing there 2 seasons ago and he was good.

As for previous posts about players with African background. If you watch SA and VIC NPLs there are plenty of talented players with African backgrounds. The big difference is that Melbourne and Adelaide have bigger African communities, hence they have more players pushing for A League contracts.

Looking at list of highest transfer fees received for players and now many were of African descent.

    Irankunda is at no 1.
Djite is at 10 back in 08/09 for ?1.2 million.
Mabil is no 17 back in 15/16 for ?870k.
    Garang Kuol was 47th,
    49th was Eli Babalj.

I don't think it was racist question, it was just a dumb one. If you meant to say dual internationals, that makes a lot more sense. 9 of the top 10 fees have been dual internationals, 15 of the top 20.

As for quantity, this season there were 3 fees and all had dual citizenship, last year it was 7 of 10, season before was 2 of 2, one before that was 2 of 2.

So, if we want to build players up to sell for profits there's some logic behind finding players will dual citizenship.

An example of a stupid question, indeed I did realise that, yes.

Thankfully tho, out of it I've added some wonderful information for people to digest. So all's well that ends well.

    Sky blue kiddies FC.

All BS aside if the smurfs rated this kid he would be remaining there given the number of players they have offloaded who play the middle of the park. This demonstrates Stanton's lack of a real network IMO and reeks of him just going back to the same old well.
