Thread: 2024 Zone League 1

Thanks for the update builtwithload, you’re the oracle of zone league with these findings, old keeper leaving?

I have also heard rumblings that 50% of Olympic’s home games will be played at Darling St next season. No doubt will likely attract some very big names that want to play under the bright lights if it happens

So out of the 12 clubs in the league other than Minmi & Westlakes I wonder who would prefer not to have a third grade team?

Does it matter? Its a choice. No problems.

So if third grade is optional and there?ll be byes from other teams not having a team will Dudley be allowed to keep theirs and play them in this comp? Or is that too sensible an idea for NNSW

Thats the only negative for mine. keeping the grade aligned with the top 2 each week.

Alternative is to have a draw that that plays at home on home game day but maybe against different opposition. Depending on the number of teams have 3 rounds if 8 teams.

It's a slippery slope. Once it's gone, it won't come back. Rather than trying to help the couple of clubs that are struggling to get third grade numbers (or allowing them to continue in ZL3), the federation should be trying to help bring people to Zone Football, not push them away.
I think you'll find with it being optional, that Olympic won't have a third grade. They are outside of the promotion conversation, so they can just sit in ZL1 and concentrate on just keeping two grades afloat.

Plenty will disagree with me and already have, but the best thing about having three grades is being able to keep players at clubs for a longer period of time. Creating and keeping that club culture. Having a diverse range of players from your younger boys coming through the ranks, even children of guys that have been or even still play and are involved in clubs, that's what's special.
If it wasn't for third grade, there would be plenty of people who are heavily involved with clubs that probably would have never been there without that avenue. Not everyone that joins Zone League jumps straight into first and reserve grade.

Be lucky to field 4 teams of 3rds comp if the information Zonal insider is saying is true. Lots of money lost for the football associations. I have already heard Mayfield will boycott season if this is true.

3rds teams ready to go Dudley no.4 mode on NNSW

Minmi are relegated, If westlakes are the only other team that aren't interested in fielding a 3rd grade team then Dudley replaces them in 3rds, problem solved.

It all comes down to whoever expresses interest in 3rd grade, decisions will be made on the back of that. It's pretty straightforward in my opinion, want a team request it.

I think it's vital though players still move up and down grades in this system, needs to be set up so this occurs.

Likely want to keep third grade:

    Suns
    Cardiff
    Mayfield
    Kotara
    Warners Bay
    Uni

    Unknown:

    Swansea
    Azzurri
    Olympic
    Croatia

    Unlikely:

    Minmi
    Westlakes

Unless they want Zone league 1 to be an 11 team competition with a bye round then Minmi will be remaining where they are.

With all due respect they possibly should look at forfeiting their place to an ambitious team from the division below though. Just my opinion

Go read nnsw promotion relegation rules zombie marking… minmi are long gone …
NNSW wanted 10 newfm teams they don’t care about zone league having 11

Swansea is a definite YES to fielding a third grade team which they indicated last night

You can read the rules as much as you want pretty boy. As of this moment there is no confirmation that next seasons Zone league one will be an 11 team comp.

Minmi ZL2. Stockton were a topic of conversation in regard to ZL1.
