I agree if the comp reverts back to 10 team comp. The final series should be top 4 as followed.

    Week 1 - 1 v 2 = winner to GF loser moves to week 2
    Week 1 - 3 v 4 = Loser out & winner progresses to week 2

    Week 2 - Loser 1/2 v Winner 3/4

    Week 3 GF - Winner Wk1 1/2 v Week 2 Winner.

This format rewards you coming 1st or 2nd and a second bite of the cherry.

Just my thoughts. however I'm for a 10 team comp across ZL1 to ZL4.

    Interesting times ahead

    Allegedly

2 grade model across all tiers

Possible separate comp for clubs who want thirds

Interesting 6 from 12 clubs from this season voted for optional or removal of thirds

19 of 32 clubs in zone football voted for 2 grades only

I believe there is already a separate comp for thirds - All Age

Wait, so 13 clubs from ZL2 and ZL3 voted for Thirds?

Any idea on the league sizes? - Sticking with 11 for ZL1 & ZL2?

Be interesting to understand if the 19 votes were in support of it being ?non-mandated? (want it but don?t care if a couple of clubs in the division don?t have a 3rds) or if they actually ?don?t want 3rds?.

Draft comp format will be discussed at the ZFL Meeting at NF in a couple of weeks on the 23rd is what was mentioned at the meeting the other week.

Really the best way to go about it, wonder if Dudley will be allowed to have their thirds remain and be part of that comp.

I don't believe this, many people on this forum told me that every club they spoke to wanted to keep their thirds.

19 of 32 clubs in zone football voted for 2 grades only
Hardly a shock, it was always a small minority of teams that were insistent that the only reason the game existed and managed to survive in the Hunter Valley was because of thirds.

7 clubs from ZL2 and ZL3 voted for thirds.

Disappointing outcome for ZL, there will be several disgruntled clubs.

Let?s hope those wanting a 3rd grade squad can be catered for effectively.

Picked it. Committee just reading these posts.

If theres a joint 3rd grade comp we need to avoid byes & try to have clubs playing at home with other grades where possible.

Still cant believe players will be shattered by missing out on 3rds.
Newcastle has lots of comps. Could put a 2nd team into ZL4 in 2026? I think most are disappointed because many think their too good to play AA.

    Suns
    Cardiff
    Kotara
    Warners Bay
    Mayfield
    Uni

    So that means

    Olympic
    Swansea
    Azzurri
    Westlakes
    Minmi
    Croatia

So this means the latter 3 clubs all voted against having third grade

They are already catered for, go play in lower division or all age or o35

Which means 6 of these clubs voted for it either being optional or to be removed

    Olympic
    Swansea
    Azzurri
    Westlakes
    Minmi
    Suns
    Cardiff
    Kotara
    Warners Bay
    Mayfield
    Uni

And that 5 of them voted for 3rds to remain

Odds of it being another 90 min discussion re: 3rd grade?!

With your ties to Dudley I am not sure you would be so outspoken on this opinion if they were still in the competition.

Well I can name at least 6 of those teams who would definitely prefer to keep their 3rd grade so Insiders numbers are not adding up.

Prefer to keep or would have voted that it must remain? You could still prefer to keep your 3rds but have voted to make it an optional competition.

Asking those guys to go and play for another club is not exactly catering for them

Don't all these clubs have AA and O35 teams already?
