You?re not wrong. Went down to watch Dudley v Cardiff thinking it would be a good contest. Dudley trotted out a team of reserve and 3rd graders and not a single guy that started the last first grade game. Clearly not interested in the cup this year

Now ProMotion / relegation are on the table, most sides won?t play full strength, being promoted or fighting to stay up a lot more important then winning a couple of knockout games then getting smashed by NPL or an A League side. Heard Cessnock, Dudley and lakes all went down.

Disgraceful attitude by clubs, Fed should come down hard on them, but they won?t of course

Pathetic from all clubs who have taken this approach. You are going to kill this competition. We really don’t play a massive amount of football during the season. A couple of extra matches a year is not asking a lot. Have a bit of pride and ambition. Very disappointing.

I highly doubt Cardiff were full strength either

The Australia Cup is going to die because a few teams in Newcastle don't play full strength squads?

maybe they should revamp the early rounds, early Feb, very early march rds 1&2, lowest team gets the home games or make it the 1st Tuesday or Wednesday of each month so clubs can plan a little better, knowing these games are happening.
Rd3 maybe tag into easter weekend, once again lower ranked sides get home games, make some cash make it harder for the higher ranked teams, not playing on carpet each week etc etc.

The next draw is on Friday and has to played by the 20th April i was told yesterday.

Lower ranked teams always get the home advantage, cupsets galore..

There is technically no incentive to go through and win except for some cup Croatia won last year for being the Zl comps longest survivor, how about some financial bonus??

We at Cardiff made the 16 once, lost on pens to Port and the other year were walloped by Olympic, all we got out of that was a couple of injuries, hides kicked and a suspension, yippee recommend that to everyone.

Definitely needs a tinker, stags playing Thursday night in cup then sat 2pm in NL1. Only 18 round competition helps but 4/4 in comp would be their priority I?m thinking.

It?s their home game. If they a stupid enough to schedule it on a Thursday before a Saturday comp game then that?s their problem.

i believe there will be a questionnaire/survey put out shortly to ask for suggestions etc. on how to make it more workable.

Very easy to fix like you say, just play rounds 1 and 2 before any Zone League competition and Northern League One.

Round one to be played by 3rd weekend in February and the second round to be played in the following 3 weekends before the competition starts.

Some might think its a simple way to look at it but from a youth point of view kids are always wanting to go to the teams that win.For senior teams I dont know if its any different so being known as a team that lost to a 'lower' ranked opponent cant be a good thing for your reputation. It may not matter this season but will potential recruits be put off by stuff like this? Now for what its worth I am very much in the group of people that think the best of ZPL is an equal and higher quality than most of NL1.But thats what the new system is about and I hope theres as much change as possible over the next few years with bad clubs being punished and good clubs being rewarded.

People are going to remember the league more than the cup. Only 2 teams make it to the Australia Cup proper

I agree and if everyone is honest there is really maybe 6 teams that are a realistic chance of being the final 2 team. All the other teams are running risk of injury/suspension for what. All teams at the start of the year set out to win the league.
Like Anfield said if there early rounds were in the preseason these games can replace a trial games and clubs are more likely to have a crack

Just try to be the best team in your grade & maybe beat someone a grade above. Job done skip the rest.
