I could go on and ask many more questions but I feel that your short sightedness & nepotism regarding your child wouldn?t allow you to see reason.
I love how people read my comment and immediately assume I’m talking about my own child. Hahaha. My comment must be unusual on here by the sounds of it.

If you’re referring to what I said about overseas players, I can assure you it has nothing to do with my son, he’s doing perfectly fine in the senior system and he knows he needs to wait for his turn. I just think differently, and I can assure you my so‑called short‑sightedness and ‘nepotism’ are perfectly fine. Not sure about you, though.
Coaches are employed to coach and develop players from bottom to top, that’s their job, isn’t it.

I just feel sorry for all the kids who do have potential but won’t get a chance because their spots are taken by visa players or out‑of‑region players. And just because a kid didn’t play at the Jets or Mariners doesn’t mean he isn’t good enough, sometimes the parents simply couldn’t afford it, this is the thinking our head coaches need to move away from as well. I could go on and on as well.

I?ve seen many a kid return from jets into senior system in npl and they are no better or worse then the kid who has only played npl. Many know that the jets system is broken especially in the older groups 18s and 20s, many of the good kids preferred to play npl and knocked back offers from the jets due to the travel, cost etc and to be honest better development playing against men in npl not boys in jets system.

Looking at the current Jets men?s squad and the number of players in it who came through the Jets 18s & 20s makes your comment look a little bit silly

3 or 4 out of hundreds? And only just recently. The "academy" is a joke and our youth have been treated like **** for years. Goodwin was a lucky one and as usual other clubs saw his value. Young McSeveny just had 11 years with our "best"coaches (lol) and finally made it to Weston. Our 1st grade is decent grade level. Im expecting more.
Academy players should be looking O/S for football or at minimun Aleague.

Granted a few recent boys are doing great but you are talking a handful from hundreds and hundreds over recent years who have gone thru the system. I also feel that the A league is at such a low level financially that they are now forced to select some youth purely based on costs. This is not to takeaway from some of the excellent youth kids now in the A league but let?s be real about the level that A league really is compared to other leagues throughout the world.

Again, when the system becomes flooded with visa players and talent brought in from Sydney and Melbourne, local players inevitably miss out. At some point, parents need to start asking the hard questions. If clubs can?t generate sustainable funding through sponsorship, then they need to stop paying overs for players.

It?ll take a club to go under before they all finally work out it isn?t sustainable

Even back in SAP days you had dads who just went and got a C licence to coach

The new match day roster rules will go a long way ti correcting this. Only 2 visa players allowed, 3 players must've played for at least 3 years for the club between 15 and 23, 3 players must be under 23, a further 2 must be under 20 and goalkeepers must be Australian
