didnt look close? are you kidding. the ref had a bright red shirt a few shades away from orange. yes it was red but it was very close to the orange of kotara. nowhere near pink as football refs dont wear pink shirts like nrl refs.
and if it wasnt so close howcome all of the stocko team that was on the field thought he was kotara player and most of the kotara team, at a quick glance thought he was one of theirs. obviously you were on the sideline cause when youre on the field and you are making split second decisions and all youre looking for out of the corner of your eye is a colour or at least a shade close to it. an red shirt looks orange. which is what had most players on the field confused.
the attitude was bad from both referee and linesman when approached about this and quickly dismissed as 'we think its ok',
which is made even more outraegous when prior to kick off, our reserve goalkeeper warming up in an all yellow strip was told to change his shirt as it was 'too close' to the kotara orange strip. you tell me if that makes sense!?!?!
ffs kit clashes grind my gears so much.
back in the day i was walking past a local league afl game on the way to watching the mrs play netball, and i managed to see the end of one game and the start of the next. in the first game it was a blue team vs a yellow team, the refs wore orange shirts, grey (with orange trim) shorts & orange socks. the next game came out and one team was blue, the other team was orange. the refs went into their little change room and came out wearing all grey.
for starters - why aren't our referees this organised?
secondly - why don't refs have fully grey outfits? barely any teams actually wear grey - they're near guarenteed to never clash. pretty sure champs league refs do, or used to, wear all grey. the only people i recall wearing grey in newcastle are keepers - i reckon if refs basically always wore grey it would be such less of a hassle.
also in regards to the stockton/kotara game - pretty sure you're allowed to refuse to play if the ref clashes. he needs to go get a green bib or something. i was under the impression they all had to bring at least two different coloured shirts to all games - i would have been fuming if i was you guys.

is this the 'orange' shirt in question?
Maybe somebody should start a referee thread?
Anyone got any news on the rescheduling of washed out games?
Sometimes we need to use a little common sense
try being colour blind where any strip of similar shade looks the same. I struggle with red vs green and any hot colour vs any other hot colour its a nightmare sometimes.
Going by the website, all games have just been pushed back a week to this Wednesday coming.
Regarding stockton v kotara, different people are always going to have different interpretations. Some have said the kotara kit is orange, some said its orange/black stripes. Some said the ref was orange/pink/red. The stockton shorts are red, could that be a reason to change too? Here's one for you, the refs brushed it off as they thought the comment about their shirts was meant as a "you're favouring kotara with your decisions so you may as well have one of their shirts on".
As for confusing the ref with a player, i doubt the kotara kit comes in a size big enough to cater for that particular official. Shouldn't really be getting anything confused there
hi guys at no point have we or are we going to say kotara had 12 players playing for them , this is beside the point , all we are trying to get accross is if we have match tap to our colours and skins why cant the refs were nutral colours , i spoke to lines man about this during the 1st half and they did have 2 coloured uniforms , when platys ( maroon / white ) played the bay ( yellow / black ) they wore blue shirts , after asking the lines man during the 1st half to ask the ref at half time can he change his shirt the lines man said we have only blue shirts and were happy with what were wearing , i said to be funny about it were them and see what kotara say. by the way we were blue shorts with a red strip down the side. enough said , kotara was all we expected , we led early in the game but only for kotara to take a 2 - 1 half time led. kotara threw everyting at us in the 1st half and can say some great saves from our keeper gept us in the game at half time. second half was fairly even and we were starting to play some good football , 15 to go we made it 2 - 2 and from there came home really stong and unlucky not to win it from there. well done to kotara in the end we had 2 chances to win the shoot out but you guys came through strong.
we can all whinge about little facts about the game
there are too many little stupid rules in an amateur saturday competition like most of us play.
an example of this is when we played stockton in state cup
every player in our team had to remove tape that they were wearing as it was not purple. even those wth a blue that is close to purple. also the white tape which is the colour of our shorts and clearly opposes the yellow socks of stockton.
yet many stockton players wore black tape on yellow socks.
alot of stupid rules like this, but u just have to deal with it.
realistically it would affect kotara more wouldnt it cause ur not going to want to pass the ball to the opposition.
Not a single person from Stockton wore anything other than yellow tape. Every single person had to remove their tape if it wasn't yellow including myself who had black tape so you are wrong. And when you are making split second decisions the red/pink ref shirt was very hard to distinguish.
All in all was a tough game. Stocko probably played a little under par and was tough into the wind. One mistake cost a goal. Kotara controlled the midfield but didn't create too many chances whereas Stockton got them on the counter. Was a fair result in normal time just a shame it had to be settled on pens would have been nice to see what happened if there was and extra 20/30 mins
how many different coloured tapes can you get.. what do people do with socks that are 2 coloured?.
and whats the rules on skins ? same colours as shorts? because im telling you now some teams aren't going to be able to find skins in there shorts colours so how is that fair?
Why are we still having this problem with undergarments(not necessarily skins)-the rule is not new, having been in for the last 3 years at least so teams should be up to date with that rule.As far as tape is concerned, the rule starts this season as laid down by FIFA and having been adopted by FFA and NFF and ID that tape has to be the same colour as the socks-as for 2 coloured socks there is no problem-the tape has to be the same as the main colour and if striped (say black and white)then blind freddy could tell you that black tape goes on the black stripe or white tape goes on the white stripe. How difficult is that.I am convinced that some people come onto this forum just looking to create trouble.Wouldnt it be easier all round if people just accepted the law changes and went out and played the game for enjoyment.Referees are there for the same reason(enjoyment)in the main-but rules are rules so players should not complain if their attempts to circumvent the rules dont work.
