Just watched the recording of the first half and maybe it's not quite as doom and gloom as I thought. But it's just the same old story... No creativity. Hopefully burns can improve and give us some spark up front. Jaliens looks the goods at the back, he and Chapman should do well. Would like to see the beard come in for caravella next week. Gallaway is actually looking quite good as well

I still am yet to see regan being the answer to anything apart drom a decent injury replacement option.
chapman simply isnt ready yet, yes he will become a great player but cant pass to save himself and is a poor reader of the game, taylor please

For all the people who wish to criticise Chapman can they enlighten us all as to what he done wrong on Friday night??

The only error I noted was he fell over for ADP's goal. That wasn't entirely his fault though as Zenon pushed him over.

The rest of the time Chapo was quite solid and done well I thought. Our back 4 were actually well organised for the vast majority of the game. What cost us was 2 turn overs when our fullbacks were again pushed up the park and neither Zads or Zenon were back to cover. Zenon admittedly coughed up the ball both times but I find it baffling the lack of criticism for Zads not being back remotely in a position to assist the defence if things went pear shaped considering the what can only be described as the pre mandated tactic for LB and RB to be 20 yards pushed up from the centre halves.

Chapo and Huge Aliens were 2 of our better players Friday

Exactly I thought our defensive set-up was good also just we were too slow in transition and gave the ball away cheaply in midfield

Bingo. Depressing isn't it? I mean I know we've been crap, but to realise that we've been watching us lose more than win every year for the last 5 years...

To put it another way, our current streak is 5 seasons in a row of losing more than winning. The next worst (at the moment) is a 1 season streak.

sarcasm yeah? how often did cara have to double around behind the defence. total kaos. Our new signing seemed stunned at the lack of a decent setup

from watching the game start to finish and getting more and more frustrated at the game my views were
ADP is class but geeze he does fall over alot for nothing. yeah he does get kick alot but not as much as he wins free kicks.

    but to the important parts
virgilli is useless as a starting player i think. he just be a impact player and thats it.
ZC is a ok player but he had a terrible game and Brillante has been killing pre season why drop him now when he came on we looked so much better in attack i think.

and me i reackon HOOLE is so much better as a wing back then neville. how can we have a wing back that cant deliver a cross more then 5% of the time

and i dont think Chapman deserves the bagging ppl are giving him
once again thats my oppinion haha

as i said just personal opinion
but i just have seen him create much in past two season. only ever in pre season. im not say the kid doesnt have talent. but maybe not as a starting playing for now atleast. he has alot of pace no doubt bout it. i also dont think the system we play suits him as a player as we always looking for wing backs to overlap etc when youy have aplayer like virigilie i would like to use him at getting at players one on one not our own players getting in the way or use his pace as i dont think we do with the current system GVE plays

Last year he was brilliant against Mariners when we won 2-1 especially and showed glimpses of talent at other points last year

Taking the gve perspective on chilli here (also applies to chapman as we'll) He is only going to show those glimpses if he is consistently in and out of the side.

Give him 5 games in the starting 11, give him a license to cut loose and watch the magic

i really think the system that GVE uses does not help virgillie chase at all for the type of player I see him as. also without some dominating midfielder that can play the ball correctly doesnt help him either. but i still think use him as a 20 or 30 min player for a consistant while and see if he can show some magiv which i can see if he does he will get confidence then who know what could happen.
specially with bridges when he is back he prob be in start line up and he wont last the 90 so when he is done throw virgilli on and then let him cut loose

Really? I remember a mate & I were chatting for around 10 full minutes leading up to the Heskey goal about how useless Virgili was, and how bad GVE's system was. I remember this because it was one of those moments where you say "that guy is useless" and he does something amazing (similar to how you try to recreate a computer/phone issue you're having, but it works perfectly when you show someone). Because I remember ending the conversation with "Virgili should NOT be starting any HAL game" and then within 10 seconds he setup Heskey. And FTR I celebrated wildly. And FTR I don't remember him doing anything else that game.

Virgili is a Ryan Griffiths type player. Is remembered for his brief moment of greatness in games where otherwise he's a passenger for the other 85 minutes.

TBH I hope Virgili, Neville, Gallaway, Bridges get a solid 5 games in the lineup. Losing 5 games is surely enough for HSG to sack GVE.

Whoever on this foz keeps bringing it up was spot on the money - Flores is looking more & more like another Smeltz, the one we'll forever hate ourselves for not getting. Flores costs CCM 150k per year, and MV pay the remainding 250k of his contract. I fail to see, after we let Jesic (who was on 140k - kutgw Branko) & Ryan Griffiths (200-250k from what I heard - plus "we got a transfer fee for him" so not only freed up his wages but earnt money off him #yeahright) and the others (no idea wages) go from our squad last season, how we couldn't afford to chase Flores. Even taking into account Jaliens and the short-term Burns signing.
