I actually think he has been at 50% since the away victory over Brissy. I think he has realised nothing short of a miracle will see him unemployed be seasons end and.

Both of those produce less than GVE.

Looks like it could be Zane who steps up.

Club has taken the cheap option by shuffling the decks around. No new employees so the payout doesn't affect anything.

    Zane to Coach.
Bridges as Assistant/Player (its like an All Age Team set up)
    Deans to Youth

FFS Bridges if you're going to be Assistant do the right thing and retire from playing. Other then that I have no dramas with this, should be interesting to see how Zane goes.

Also no problems with GVE as Technical Director of the emerging jets program, how ever I'm not sure about Deans having the youth team.

The way this appears to have been done with no one new being employed. If bridges were to retire, I couldn't see the club filling the space.

The whole Player/Assistant Coach thing is a bit of a stretch though. Do one or the other, surely there is a conflict doing both. That aside I have no issues with Bridges as Assistant. Jury is out for me on Zane being appointed.

Because I'm a complete ****ing idiot I will keep turning up to support the Jets regardless of who the coach is. If I had the slightest bit of intelligence, I would have walked at the end of season three.
That being said, if Clayton Zane is handed the Reins I'll be posting regularly in the Zane Out thread.

I never thought I would be saying this but -- why not Deans as caretaker?

Zane has been less than impressive with the youth team from all reports (MFKS plz correct me if I'm wrong), and didn't he coach the W-League Galacticos team (with Barbieri, De Vanna, van Egmond, German chick etc.) to a disappointing 5th place which effectively destroyed our entire W-League outfit?

Probably being harsh but the move doesn't strike me with a great deal of confidence.

Actually I've had a change of heart. No to Bridges for Assistant if Bridges is Assistant then that means we won't get Ljubo.

Agree. Willing to be proven wrong, but in the interim, I would be more confident in the bloke that was at the temporary helm when we beat the Coast for the first time in forever...

Management won't sign Ljubo no matter who the coaching staff contains.

I'm also with you. Why disrupt the Youth team as well as the First team? Is it so GvE and Deans can work together still in the youth setup?

I'm also waiting for MFKS to tell us what his thoughts are on Zane's performance as youth team coach.

isn't deans just a yes boy to GVE anyway, i think a fresh word from Zane might be the kick start the team need.

i think it would be better though if they went and got someone new like okon, milicic or papas right away though so they can have this season and the off season to start changing things for the better.

It's quite common for clubs to get rid the staff associated with the previous manager. Plus youth coaches seem to kick arse when given the job. (Tim Sherwood)

Deans isn't exactly associated with GVE though. He was kind of a club-assigned staffy who just got put on whichever coach came in.

I think it's a pretty big statement by the club if they were to appoint Zane as caretaker as opposed to Deans. Deans has had the chances/experiences to warrant that caretaker job at the very least (he's statistically the most successful coach in HAL history with a 66.67% win record). The lack of faith shown to him by the club is huge here - wouldn't be surprised if he moved on tbh.
    OK

    Agree 100%

A thought - Deans may see the interim role for what it is, decided not to put his hat in the ring in hopes of getting the full-time gig for next season?
