EITHER Barcelona, Real Madrid or a powerhouse EPL club could play against Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium in what would be a huge pre-season friendly for local fans in 2013.
au.fourfourtwo.com understands that two local promoters have proposals for the tour match to be played in Sydney - most likely in July.
The clubs being talked about include either Barca, Real Madrid or an unnamed EPL club with a big fan-base in Australia.
Negotiations are continuing and if the one-off game comes off, should prove a massive boost to the local game.
Barcelona in particular would be a huge drawcard given their brand of football and the fact they have arguably the world’s best player in Leo Messi.
Other drawcards Iniesta, Xavi, Villa and Fabregas would make such a game one of the greatest ever tour matches in Australia.
And for Real Madrid – who have made the US their off-season base in recent years – the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo would be just as big a drawcard as Messi. Other stars for the Whites include Alonso, Casillas, Ozil and Higuain.
In other news, Sydney FC are thought to be close to signing Indigenous teenage defender Keifer Dotti to a senior deal.
The powerfully built Rockdale Suns starlet has featured in recent Sydney FC trial games. The 18-year-old was identified last season by then youth team coach Ian Crook as an NYL player for the Sky Blues

Ryan Griffiths down but not out for Jets

FIRST-choice striker Ryan Griffiths limped out of training yesterday but is expected to be available for the Jets friendly against A-League champions Brisbane Roar in Tamworth on Saturday.
The Jets returned to training for the final six-week block of their pre-season which includes four games against A-League opposition.
There was no easing back into things as coach Gary van Egmond put the squad through a gruelling 90-minute session at Ray Watt Oval.
Griffiths sent a scare through the camp when he tumbled to the ground clutching his left knee in the final moments of a nine-versus-nine game which completed the hit-out.
The athletic forward lost balance when the ball bobbled as he went to shoot. He sat flexing the knee before hobbling over the byline where he received treatment.
The Jets were not available to the media yesterday but the Herald understands that the injury is only minor and unlikely to prevent him from lining up against the Roar.
After spending most of last season on the left of a front three, Griffiths has been moved to the point of the attack.
Van Egmond hopes to sign an overseas No.9 but until then Griffiths has been given the job of leading the line.
His back-up, Adam Taggart, is one of three Jets alongside Connor Chapman and Mitch Cooper in Vietnam with the Young Socceroos.
Marko Jesic, who had the start of his pre-season disrupted by a quadriceps strain, scored a goal and set another up off the bench in the spiteful 3-1 win over Wellington at Weston 10 days ago and is another option.
Veteran Michael Bridges has resumed training after two weeks in England to visit his ill father.

Del Piero, 37, is the fourth-highest capped (91 games) Italian international of all-time, and played more games (513) for Juventus than anyone else before he pulled down the curtain on his illustrious career with the bianconeri after last season's Coppa Italia final in May.
