This makes me happy on what has personally been a terrible day regarding sport.

One year is a good option for both parties.

Glad to have him re-sign. TIFO worked

Didnt realise the Griff was turning 35 before the season. Maybe 1 year is a good option then see how he goes.

Unless he has a stellar season, methinks Griff may just call it a day next season. At least he will finish his days here.

Dunno why he would retire at the end of next season. He's not Bridges y'know.

    Archie Thompson
    Vaughan Coveny
    Daniel McBreen
    Damian Mori
    etc.

Anyone else find it interesting that all the talk of Griff re-signing so far have included Carney, but this news of Griff re-signing does not accompany any news of Carney?

The Knights flogged at home in front of a pitiful crowd to go bottom and Griff signs....perfect day.

    Yes!!!

Great news. Here's hoping he has a great season and puts all the doubters in their place.

This is one for those who say there is no loyalty in football. Sure, it plays no real part for most players but there is something special when a player's career intertwines with a club and its fans. For whatever reason, Joel has been a Newcastle boy through most of his career. It would have been a shame if he couldn't have re-established his place in club history.

It is great that he has signed on again.

Only thing mentioned in the article about Carney is:
Griffiths is hoping that fellow late-season recruit David Carney also re-signs, explaining: “I just think he’d be a really good asset to have once he’s really fit. The boss has obviously got his work cut out here."

Griffs resigning makes the Triple-J news.
    Even the hippies love Griff.
