I see no reason for Stubbs to hype it up if it turns out too be some no name kid. I'm not expecting some huge name but if he has as much name value as someone like Berisha did prior to coming to Roar then I see no reason even announcing we were gonna sign someone from South America.

I've looked at Colombian, >1 int cap, Striker, contract expired or expiring in 1 year (from July last year) and not based in Europe or UK.

If I exclude people >35, I've come up with three names...

I did the same thing a week or so ago but didn't get time to post it up here

The club would have had the draw for some time now. Imo announcing a new signing on the same day as the draw would be a good move
    OK

Announcement for the knights ownership is due tomorrow isn't it, can see HSG waiting and announcing on the same day.

Your probably right. Pretty well too late for one today. Bloke probably changed his mind and jets are madly trying to get another signing up for this week.
On a different trajectory, with stubbins saying we'll probably bring in another centre back, it will surely have to be a low wage signing. What about David vrankovic? Young guy that I reckon would of kept his contract with melb city had chapman not forced his way down there. Any other young, promising ones around?
Personally I would of kept josh mitchell

What the hell are the Jets doing? Releasing all their sh*t players and signing decent ones. This isn't the Jets I've come to hate at all.

I honestly believe Kanta can do that job.
Him and Brillante in the centre would be nice,

I was wondering if this would happen. Two theories here, Caravella career nose dived at AUFC after being successful at the Gold Coast so wondering if he and Stubbins did not see eye to eye. Second theory is that Stubbins has stated we are after a midfielder/defender for the final squad position I wonder if Caravella's salary was required for this position. Might explain holding off on formalising the striker deal should Stubbins still be juggling the salary cap.

As it looks likely we will play 442 with a midfield diamond, I wonder in Jon Mackain is being looked at for the midfield/defender role. We will need a dedicated DM to which only Kanta fills the role.

Didn't Stubbins leave BEFORE Caravella arrived? Or at least in the same off-season...

I think it could just be that Caravella hasn't recovered as well as he had hoped from his ligament tear and is retiring to pursue life outside of football in his hometown of Cairns, kind of like it says in the article...

Haha nah its just a smoke screen for my conspiracy theories ;-) I hadn't seen the article but have now thanks. Realistically though Stubbins probably gave him a tap on the shoulder about likely game time next year.
