I call bullshit. This club would never go after an injured player.

Decent player but hilarious us possibly signing another injured player. Clayton zane said on the news that the jets have been approached by the players (ie their agents) rather than jets approaching them.

    Thats pretty bang on

All our prospective players are fit when we negotiate with them

As soon as we sign them we then find out they are injured.

Reckon the pen Jets use to sign contracts must be heavy and injure them of something.

    PEN OUT

Just because Lustica gave the interviewer nothing doesn't mean he was clueless on the matter or didn't care.

It simply means he didn't tell the inteviewer what Ljubo was up to.
Where exactly did I show complete lack of Ljubo? I worship the guy. Bon, Premy, erryone will vouch for that.

If anything I showed no love for Lustica, but even that's a stretch.

And, like I said, Steve said he was clueless on the matter, and gave indication that he didn't care.

That was probably your worst post ever, Dunster.
    OK

Apologies if I'm not meant to mention this here (perhaps it's regarded as breaching a forum member's privacy?), but I did enjoy the (non-Thai) happy ending to this police drama.

Drew Jose, 22, was accused of grabbing an officer's testicles during a fracas in the crowd at the Jets' home game against the Western Sydney Wanderers on December 14.

He pleaded not guilty to assault and was acquitted by magistrate Robert Stone two weeks ago.

Mr Stone found that Mr Jose's evidence was "genuine" and "credible" while there were a number of discrepancies in the prosecution case.

I had wondered if the fella in question had a stadium ban from the FFA, and if so, has said stadium ban been lifted given he has been found not guilty? If not, why not?

    Yes.

    Not yet.

FFA don't need to follow procedural fairness. They can ban you just for asking if they like. Doesn't matter if you've done nothing wrong legally.

Edit: that photo is of Danny burt, however you have to love the cop on the left side of the photograph reaching over to grab/hit/spray (hard to see exactly what). Blokes already in cuffs by that stage and being walked out. What need that cop has to lean in like that I will never know.

Wankers the lot of them that night.

Edit 2: noticed the cop on the right grabbing the face too. Police are tough when there are a dozen of them and they have their sticks, spray and tasers.

    COMEBACK: Zenon Caravella.

ZENON Caravella is set to answer an SOS from the Newcastle Jets and return to the A-League.

Caravella had a year to run on his contract when he quit in June to move to Cairns and help run the family-owned backpackers resort.

In announcing his decision at the time, the clever playmaker said it was time to ‘‘put my energy into something else’’.

However, with the Jets’ midfield stocks dry, the Newcastle Herald understands the 31-year-old is poised for a comeback.

After missing out on Erik Paartalu to Melbourne City, Jets coach Phil Stubbins said he would not comment on contract negotiations until they were finalised.

But the Herald understands that Caravella will meet with Newcastle management this week and could be on deck for training on Monday.

The industrious midfielder has kept in shape playing with Far North Queensland Heat in the Queensland National Premier League and runs a football coaching academy in Cairns.

He helped steer the Heat to second place, but they lost 5-4 to eventual winners Brisbane Olympic in the semi-final on September 6, which is his most recent game.

Caravella played 25 games for the Jets in a season and a half after moving from Adelaide midway through the 2012-13 campaign.

After a slow start last season, he finished the campaign in career-best form, highlighted by a man-of-the-match performance in a 2-0 win over Western Sydney in round 21.

Caravella’s unexpected exit at the end of the campaign came a fortnight after skipper Ruben Zadkovich was released to join Perth Glory.

Since their departure, the Jets have lost Josh Brillante to Fiorentina and allowed promising teenager Mitch Oxborrow to return to Perth for personal reasons.

Billy Celeski was brought in, but he and Ben Kantarovski, the only other recognised midfielder in the squad, have undergone groin and knee surgeries respectively and will miss the start of the season.

Contract talks with Paartalu fell through after big-spending Melbourne City gazumped the Jets with a four-year deal.

Former Leicester youth team captain Robert Paratore came and went on trial.

Jacob Pepper and Taylor Regan have teamed up in central midfield in the past two pre-season games, a scoreless draw with the Mariners in Mudgee and a 2-1 win over the Young Socceroos in Gosford on Saturday.

The two local products, who have each occupied defensive roles in recent seasons, are likely to start in the A-League opener against the Mariners in nine days.

However, Caravella, subject to signing and fitness, could be an option for the bench.

FFS if that's the case I would prefer a local in Jobe. Back to pulling my hair out watching caravan do circles in the middle of the park.

I agree. We have an ex-captain sitting in our backyard waiting for the phone call. Jobe really matured while playing next to Wehrman and when Kasey was sent to do laps I remember watching Jobe and seeing Wehrman's technique coming though.

Maybe not. He was mainly doing roundabouts because there was no support. I think he has a much better team around him this year. I'd pick Zenon over Jobe, so long as there is an enforcer type defensive midfielder next to him. Oh wait, I don't think we have one.
