Before the last few weeks I thought the same ie plastic fans. I applaud u if u are happy to keep turning up, I really do but as it stands, with other things in life considered, I won't be turning up for next home game unless there is some seriously positive happenings at the club.
It's about time the fans and the community were taken seriously.
It's about time we got the stable club we deserve.
It's about time we had a club that wasn't a laughing stock.
Any players or fans that jump ship presently can't be seriously called plastic.

I see it like this
Fans who continue to go:
- are extreme loyal fans who support the club regardless of any position
- fans who are blind to all the clubs trouble and just support the 11 blokes who run out
- mongs
Fans who don't go
- fans who no longer are willing to accept mediocrity and the crap served up
- the bandwagon
-q man
Fans who continue to go:

Can confirm I am in this category.

This protest you are talking about interests me.
Who are the issues we rally against??
Tinks Palmer Stubbins FFA ??

Whats everyones thoughts about doing it at the Asian Cup Semi??
Feel that this would be a great time as the attention will be on the town and the message of anarchy can get out to the wider public and the FFA will be paying attention as to what is going on??

What is a "plastic fan"? How do you determine this? Please enlighten me?
You go and sit there and watch as the owner and the coach turn us into a laughing stock, you can go and watch as our players leave because they can see how badly the place is getting run. Do you think by coming on this forum and complaining something will change? Do you think by writinig into the herald or any other paper things will change? How is it you think things will change?
Each and every day the Jets are getting dragged further and further into the mud. As a "fan" I would think you would be open to do anything to show your dissatisfaction with what is happening....guess that's just plastic though.

Plastic is turning your back on the club when times get tough. Justify it as a protest if you want but all you are doing is deserting the club when it needs your support.

I was thinking more along the lines of turning up to the front gate at a future home game but instead of going in we rally outside or sonething similar. Would have to be organised so that all fans knew and could decide if they wanted to participate.
Or we could just boycott the game all together and just leave those fans content to let this continue show up.
P.s I must state, as I have earlier, that if circumstances change (good CEO appointment, player signings/ retention, tinks showing seriously positive intent) I will be at next home game content.

So Mat Ryan is being monitored by Liverpool and they might try to get him. He just signed a 4 year contract with Club Brugge.
He is now valued at 3.5 million Euros.
https://www.eyefootball.com/news/21856/Liverpool-table-bid-Aussie-keeper-Mathew-Ryan.html
Central Coast Mariners were smart enough to insist on a sell-on clause in his contract when they sold him to Club Brugge. It is worth 20% of his next contract!
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-31/goalkeeper-ryan-signs-for-club-brugge/4725604
That could net The Mariners €700,000 = AUD$1,000,000 !!!!

I agree with this. It's a local issue and let's not taint what is a privilege to the city.
I honestly think the FFA see us a value-adding participant in the A-League. We have demonstrated time and time again that we have the potential for a captive audience. What we have against us is the business support and sponsorship. Solid administration can sort this out and we need the FFA to step in.
If the rumours are true, we are in for a tough time if they come off, especially if they aren't replaced. But let's look at each case on it's merits.
Flores and Stubbins do not get on, I think that's clear, which is disappointing because we have a genuine playmaker in the team which we've been crying out for since the days of Carle and Vigs and he simply can't get a game.
Birraz hasn't been the same since his head was turned. He came here looking for a go at first team football. We gave it to him and he got the interest and since then it's been down hill. He hasn't responded, by all reports, how you'd want a player too after being dropped. He's gone into a stink instead on knuckling down like, for example James Virgili.
Hoole, Carney and Neville are probably the most saleable assets the club has left so it's no surprise other clubs are looking to take advantage of our tumoil and take our better players. I think the likes of Cooper will be next.
I'm fearful we will get to the stage of GCU and send out a youth team to field a side. It's heading towards a farce and I still don't think we've hit rock bottom yet. We are the least attractive club in the league so I struggle to see how we'll replace anyone that does leave.
I will continue to support the team because the club is bigger than any one player but I'm having a really decent think about what I do with membership next year. A lot will hinge on the off-field shenanigans and I won't be in the same boat again.

Firstly boycotting the Jets games is not the go with any protest.
Straight away take it off the agenda. As Premy rightfully says support the club through thick and thin and our club needs us more than ever even if thiose running it are trying to destroy it we must stick solid and support the club.
Secondly the reason why the Asian Cup would not be a bad idea is that assuming the dumb ****s get the crowd right!!! We will have 20k there. The other night I noticed and spoke to quite a few who turned up to this game but had stopped going to the Jets whether frqueent or infrequent attendees. Reality is throw out the foreigners and those coming from out of the region the vast majority of those at the game on Monday night are JETS SUPPORTERS
These are those Plastic Fans (Trademark Pending) that are referred to when everyone talks about Newy getting great crowds when they win games.
Add in the FFA and Media coverage and to me it is a much better place to start than a Jets game in 4 weeks time when lets face it the crowd will be much lower. Add in the back lash from our last home game conceding 5 V Heart and the impending clear out I would not predict many there next home game anyway.
Reality is this shit should actually be on going anyway until we get the change we need.
20k singing We want Tinkler Out has a more cutting impact than the 7k who will sing it at a Jets game

As I see it their are two parties responsible for our predicament
FFA and Tinkler.
FFA gave us Tinkler didn't do their due diligence etc
FFA screwed Tinkler with the licence fee creating bad blood with the bloke from early on.
FFA forced Tinkler reluctantly to honour his commitment
FFA sat around with their heads up their arse whilst Tinks financial empire crumbled
FFA sat around with their head up their arse whilst Tinks gave up the Knights
FFA continues to sit around whilst he cuts the guts out of our club.
That being said inspite of their injustices to us they are our ****ing saviour. They just need to be forced to pull their heads out of their arse and do it
Tinkler for the obvious reasons that don't need listing.
Both parties to my way of thinking need the protest directed squarely at them.
Stubbins is after all just a shit coach coaching a basketcase of a club. He is the least of our problems and will be gone as soon as we have an owner who expects a performance level above wooden spoon spot

the loss of Neville and Hoole would be really tough for me to take.
each time I see an article like this, I wonder why I bother supporting them.
The article says that both these players are fielding offers from other clubs.........and
I would be disappointed if our good players weren't attracting interest elsewhere.
Whether the club keeps them or not is another story altogether but just reporting that SFC are sniffing is nothing new.

There are plenty of things to be outraged by supporting the Jets, but an article outlining the loss of players in the transfer window when we are running next to last is not one of them.
This doesn't go far enough. Clear out as much of the deadwood as possible and do it now. That's not to say Flores is deadwood but he is a Visa player with questionable fitness and isn't being used. It's a good outcome for both club and player.

I also support the club, the badge and those that give their all for it. What I don't support is an owner who does what he can to bring the Club to its knees. I don't support a manager who has little idea of what to do in his job. I don't support a managment that do little to improve the running of the club. I can support the players who give it all.
You know what I don't have to justify the way I support the club, nor protest their failings to you or anyone else. imo, some kind of protest/declaration of unhappiness at the current situation is needed, but i don't think a boycott of the games will help. Overseas, the fans have a lot of bargaining power over decisions. I seem to recall Cardiff City fans holding banners and chants to display their unhappiness towards their owner, allegedly sacking their manager, who they believed was being unfairly judged after he got them promoted. Now the owner is still there, but, they certainly got the publicity for it.
I don't really know how getting banners into the game goes or if they need to be checked. But i feel some sort of visual protest/message to FFA, Tinks, The whole nation is needed and unless it's something that gets the attention of the media and in turn, embarrasses the FFA so much they need to step in.

protests are only valuable if everyone is of unanimous agreement, which i believe people aren't.

15-01-2015, 04:22 PM
Can i just point out that most of this anger seems to be based on an article, written by the Herald of course, listing all of our valuable assets and saying they are going to Sydney. I don't believe any of them are going to Sydney at this stage and i think most sensible people will feel the same way.
At the end of the year when everyone is off contract and the Jets are re-negotiating then i'll believe it. The entire squad is basically playing for their futures in the A league as it is, either with us or if they want to move on they will have to show that they deserve a chance elsewhere.
Protest at the Asian Cup isn't the way to get them on our side, i think it will just turn the FFA away from us even further. They are currently putting pressure on Tinks to sort out the running of the club. Maybe now that he is chairman he can start to enjoy being involved with us and he might offer up what money he has left to fix some problems we face behind the scenes. As stated by many, we don't need a new team of players to improve our position on the ladder but we do need a lot of work done to become a well run club again.
That said, if he doesn't start to improve the situation by the end of the season i say we chase him out of town with Pitchforks..

Wasn't the Cardiff managers sacking over some real racist shit?
Anyway fans protested, owner didn't listen, was ultimately proved right yeah?
Better example would be their owner changing colours from blue to red, fans blew up deluxe, two years later owner wants to change back.
Power to the peeple.
Good for shirt sales tho.
Anyway moral of the story is to trust Tinks. He's got this.

Agree.....but nowhere in the article said that this was or would happen. Its transfer window time, every club is out there releasing players and putting the feelers out to others to see if they are interested. This article merely printed the few players from our team that are of interest to other teams.
The facts are that the playing roster is pretty poor by any standard. We are well off the pace in nearly every game we have played and a dramatic overhaul is needed. Wether Tinkler actually follows through on his recent promises and actually spends some money on replacements is another story. But I would much rather make the changes now for the rest of the season than do this all over again in 4-5 months time. With the squad we have/had I am in no doubt we are headed for the wooden spoon. Even with a squad overhaul I have no real confidence in Stubbins but I am also not a fan of turning over coaches every 6 months.
Flores had to go. A great guy for sure with real flare and talent, but, imo the pace of the game is beyond him to play in the No 10 role he was recruited for. The only way he could be included in the game day squad was as a second striker in behind a Montano or Neuman. I would have like to see big Phil give that a go but its not to be. The Jets need roster and visa spots to use now and when an amicable split presents itself you got to take it.
To be honest there is barely 1 player in this squad i would be upset to let go, maybe Hoole and Neville, thats it.

Protest at the Asian Cup isn't the way to get them on our side, i think it will just turn the FFA away from us even further. They are currently putting pressure on Tinks to sort out the running of the club.
Exactly right and I agree with you. If we disrupt the biggest thing to happen to football in this country they'll let us suffer.
FFA have a vested interest in this, don't forget. They have a big market here and Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne probably aren't ready to support a 2nd/3rd team. They need 10 teams for the TV deal and all teams to be competitive when that deal is renewed next year. So if they think Tinkler isn't the long term answer, they'll pull the plug once they have enough of a case for his removal. We just hope by then it isn't too late.

All I'm doing is what I believe is rightfully criticizing people who suggest we boycott the club. All I'm guilty of is depicting a boycott as deserting the club, I'm also going to stick by that depiction as that's what I see a boycott as and I still believe that's the way it was implied.

Soooo I'm putting words into your mouth and I'm the bad guy but you have just said that I implied that I'm abandoning the club because I suggest a boycott of a game to show our dissatisfaction with how the club is run.....I can clearly see how that is fair.
Please don't assume to know my mind when I suggest a boycott because I am not deserting the club. I am mearly suggesting that the owner, the management, the manager and maybe even the FFA will listen if the team is asked to play in front of an empty stadium. The player that give their all don't really deserve it but what else is there? Banners...security will be on them before they get on tv. They can't remove spectators when there aren't any.

Fact is, while we continue to get decent crowds to the games, the FFA won't step in. Why would they? The crowd is strong and they can continue behind the scene. Crowds stop coming and it's a much more visible thing to try to force the FFA's hand.
And don't mind premy, after Middleby went he needs someone to direct his dislike for me to.

You do that then.
You support a club through good times and the bad. Just cause the owner or the manager do things you don't like or agree with you never desert the club. We get rid of Tinks we gt rid of Stubbins and the good times return I assume you would return to???
That makes you a plastic fan. The quintessential bandwagon jumper. Don't like it too bad that is the reality of the situation.
Just because others refuse to quit on the club does not mean we support the regime. We just believe in the bit about supporting the club to the end etc is not a cliché. Now is the time to dig in and stand strong and not let these ****s break us.

What part did you not understand of me admitting guilt for making an assumption. I'll reiterat I still believe my assumption is correct.
As to what I believe is an appropriate protest would be things like tifos/banners, staying silent for a certain period to send a message, verbally as in chants ect, organized gatherings like the last time when tinks tried to hand back the club and signed petitions.

So putting the handbags down for a moment we now have 2 Visa spots available.
Assuming for a second that Tinks will open the chequebook, who do we sign.
My suggestion, Aziz Mashaan of Kuwait. Plays as a creative No 10, very fit and mobile. Was outstanding vs Korea and drove the team forward, off contract and wants to come to the A-League

Where in all the post have I said I'm abandoning the club? If you would actually take your head out of your ass and think rather than just mouthing off as usual then you might of picked up on the idea that I actually support "the club" . My suggestion of a game boycott was in protest of those who are entrusted with the running of "the club" which even you have pointed out in one of you many many enlightening posts, aren't doing a nearly good enough job of it. Tinkler, palmer, middleby, stubbins and the rest are only caretakers in their roles for "the club", the fans, whether you think they are plastic or not, are the soul of the club and with that responsibility it falls on all fans to do what they think is right to let those caretakers know that they aren't doing a good enough job. Maybe a boycott is the last line but by the way things look at the moment that last line could be approaching sooner rather than later.
You go ahead and keep calling me plastic, bandwagon jumping beacause it will make you puff up your chest a little more to feel superior than someone else. Like it or not a boycott is an abandonment, also like it or not suggesting it will come with criticism.
The fact that you're trying to take the high road and make jibes about us being superior fans because we will stay loyal reeks of hypocrisy.
The last line maybe approaching but as you suggested a boycott/abandonment is the last line, why not suggest another form of of protest before we get to the last option instead of suggesting a boycott as the first option.

Please come on. that's a pretty long bow to draw. A boycott is nothing like abandonment. A boycott is a statement that whilst we support the club we will not turn up in numbers to make it look like everything is rosy. A boycott is saying, you guys in charge are embarrassing us supporters with what you are doing so we are going to embarrass you by leaving you with an empty stadium to be broadcast on TV. Abandonment is leaving all together, never to return or worse supporting someone else. Sure a boycott of a game isn't the nicest thing for the players who give there all. Maybe banners and songs are the way to start. A big banner across the eastern grandstand saying Tinkler out or fix this or simply help us might be a good way to start. I will conceed to you that as a first line of attack a boycott isn't the nicest thing but when push comes to shove drastic action is needed and Tinkler doesn't exactly listen to anyone (except the team of lawyers he must pay a fortune to) and Stbbins is certainly living up to the stubbin part of his name with his reluctance to quit.
Lets agree that a boycott is for a last dramatic action and other things can be done first but it is something that all supporters should consider might need to be done.

One minute you are advocating boycott Jets games as a form of protest. Premy and myself have taken issue with this as it is an action of a Plastic Fan at no stage after this have you ever back tracked and conceded your suggestion/idea was incorrect and an over reaction. Contrasting this you seem to take a great deal of offence to the term plastic fan and any association to you being one and are now trying to convince us you are anything but a plastic fan.
Your stance on this matter is quite contradictory.

So putting the handbags down for a moment we now have 2 Visa spots available.
Assuming for a second that Tinks will open the chequebook, who do we sign.
My suggestion, Aziz Mashaan of Kuwait. Plays as a creative No 10, very fit and mobile. Was outstanding vs Korea and drove the team forward, off contract and wants to come to the A-League
http://m.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/asian-cup-2015-kuwait-star-aziz-mashaan-hoping-to-attract-a-league-interest/story-fni2fopz-1227178669653?nk=e0c04c96838e66dc8efd5949bd16c979
Yep would take either of Mashaan or Djeparov and both have expressed interest in playing in A-league. Mashaan was really good against Korea, i had never seen him before but he had Korea going backwards.

I think we need to find a role for Joel as our scout.
His stellar work on FM to make the Jets invincible should mean he will over scout our opponents abilities and we will triumph when we are over prepared to face the equivalent of Barcelona and we get to the game and find we we ain't playing Barcalona but some side nowhere near there talent and our confidence levels sky rocket at the realisation.

Spira getting offers to go to the Eredivisie. I'll be so freaking sad to see him go, but it's in his best interest.
Would be nice if he went somewhere better than Holland though - their defending is absolute garbage. That's a reason that pretty much no strikers move onto better leagues and do well (note: I know some strikers do well out of Holland, like Suarez, RVP, etc but my point is they are the rare cases) - there's far more that originally do good in Holland, move to a bigger league and just flop when up against capable defenders.

You can't say your views about the Eredivisie to the general Australian football supporting hipster nowadays though, because in their eyes it is the Eredivisie, Bundesliga 2 or Belgium that is pretty much the hallowed grounds for any Australian footballer. I expect parksey is one of said hipsters.
But having watched a lot of Eredivisie, I just don't rate it. There are some top-notch players in there, but overall I think the comical defending in the league just makes it a second-rate league and is only good as a use for Australians to attempt to get gametime and in the spotlight of better teams - and even when they try and do that, it doesn't end up working usually.
Tommy Oar goes OK in the Eredivisie - I wouldn't rave about him like others are though. But he goes alright - I think the previously mentioned level of defending helps him out a lot. But he is a player I try and find a way not to put in the Socceroos nowadays.
EDIT: in saying all that though, I realise that my main man Trent Sainsbury plays there

Kind of feel the A-League will be a mix of Up and coming Australian youth, mixed in with established A-league players, with a few Has-been internationals. I don't see the A-league getting international youngsters, like we can't offer them anything, Asia does us for $$$, and Europe does us for experience.

Just rolling through the #NewcastleJets hashtag on Instagram. A few funny pics and vids of babies yelling at the TV etc. Stumbled across a Kroekrit Thawikan fan page account which has 2x videos sporting the Hashtag. Could this be the "let field" Asian player that has been bandied about?

It does say that, my bad. Still interesting though, given Stubbins was brought in from Thailand

Yeah Ferreira's pace would of been nice to see up our right flank but I doubt we'd be an attractive destination at present, even compared with the scum

Didn't Stubbins say a couple of days ago that its Spanish is not great? Doubt is Portuguese is better..!!!

The most ludicrous thing about that quote of his is that he had someone who spoke fluent English and Spanish and treated him like shit. Jeronimo speaks broken english at best - that interview with him was nonsensical post Adelaide win. Anyone have any idea how much English Montano speaks?

Oh, cool. Let's hope Stubbins doesn't bin Jeronimo off as well though I imagine on the pitch is difficult enough, never mind having a clue what he wants of you in your 4x2 hour training sessions each week.

Spanish works kinda backwards in some respects. Think about translating it all as you go. It's not that easy

Can we please sign Emmanuel Eboue? That bloke is absolutely hilarious and can't get a game anywhere else.. Still only 31 so not exactly over the hill.
He even speaks Korean so he can help our our new left back.

I would take as we lack a lot in our final third. If tinks is serious throw money at someone like this for a year contract

Yeah I reckon him and lee ki je down the left would be amazing. Fahid drifting inside allowing lee the space down the side. Alternatively Fahid in the middle when finkler was out also proved successful.

hasn't killed it yet. but great potential
